About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Bierhaus is a fantastic family vacation home 200 feet from the Big Thompson River. It has been recently updated with new paint, living room furniture, all new comfy mattresses, kitchen island granite, and charming remodeled bathrooms. Bierhaus boasts many repeat visitors as well.

Our cabin is a fully permitted Estes Valley Vacation Home (operating permit #199-P)

It is just a very short walk, less than 1/4 mile, to get into Rocky Mountain National Park and begin your hike. You can sit on the sofa and look out the picture window and watch elk and deer stroll by (this is actually very common). Bierhaus sits at the base of Giant Track Mountain and looks out across the Big Thompson River towards Eagle Cliff Mountain and the continental divide. It is a relaxing stay with plenty to do. Bierhaus is in the Aspen Brook community with very private grounds you can walk, including an area for bonfires as well as a playground for an absolutely great family vacation. The Aspen Brook community sits on the Big Thompson River.

Location, Location, Location. One of the truly unique features of Bierhaus is its location. You can avoid any Estes Park traffic simply walking 5 minutes and you are in Rocky Mountain National Park (see map on the right). One of the most common areas visited by elk, Moraine Park, is a brief hike from the house. The RMNP shuttle bus stops at the Moraine Park Museum during the summer. You can use the shuttle to get to many other trail heads further into the park. No need to find a parking spot at a crowded trail head!

Bierhaus is beautifully furnished and equipped to make your stay relaxing...or as active as you desire. It has a master bedroom (queen bed) on the first floor with a full bath. There are two bedrooms on the second floor that share a bathroom. One of the upstairs bedrooms has a queen bed and the other is a 'bunk room' with a set of bunk beds that are twin-size. Each bedroom has its own closet. The great room has a sofa and loveseat with a large table for games and a great fireplace. The kitchen is fully equipped for whatever you might need. Bierhaus has a complete laundry room with a large clothes washer and dryer. The home also has a deck with a gas BBQ pit and fantastic views. You can relax on the deck with a book and clearly hear the Big Thompson River, or just watch the wildlife.

As a guest in Bierhaus you will have access to a playground and large picnic area, all adjacent to the river.

Things to do (besides relaxing and hiking):

Hire a fishing guide

Rent a bike in town

Check into a white water rafting trip in town

Take a rock climbing lesson

Try a snowshoe adventure

Go on a horseback ride

Take a day trip to Eldora to ski

Cook some smores at the firepit

Take a wildlife drive/hike

Altitude: 7,800 feet!

Keywords: cabin, house, lodge, hiking

About Greg Bier

While vacationing in Estes Park for the last 35 years it has been our family's dream to 'own a piece of the Rockies'. Bierhaus is that. It has been in our family for about 23 years. While our piece of property is very small it has a large history. There is a mineral claim on it from 1875. It was part of the Dunraven Estate. If you read the history of Estes Park you'll see how it all fits in.

We believe the Colorado Rockies are as beautiful as the Alps and more beautiful than the Canadian Rockies.

This - is heaven.

Greg Bier purchased this cabin in 1993

Why Greg Bier chose Estes Park

Location, Location, Location. Bierhaus is its own trail head...there is NO NEED to drive into Rocky Mountain National Park and find a trail head parking space. Bierhaus is about 3.0 miles from the center of Estes Park. It is part of the small Aspen Brook community which is on the Big Thompson River.

What makes this cabin unique

Bierhaus is a unique jumping off point for the whole family. It is convenient to Estes Park yet within walking distance of great restaurants such as the Dunraven Inn. You can walk to the YMCA of the Rockies and take full advantage of all the programs they have to offer (nominal membership may apply).

Bierhaus is its own trail head. From the cabin's deck you can hike directly into Rocky Mountain National Park without having to drive into the park.

The cabin is very close to Estes Park yet it sits in a very quiet, family-friendly area without the town's summer crowds.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a great time staying at Bierhaus! The cabin was awesome and located within walking distance of Rocky Mountain National Park. This was one of the best vacations we have ever had, and we are excited to come back again in the future!

Family Winter Wonderland

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay! Even after an 18" snow one evening the roads were relatively clear by noon the next day and we continued our ventures by snowshoeing from the cabin right into Moraine Park. The cabin was warm and cozy with fantastic views if we just wanted to sit on the couch and absorb the views. Bierhaus is a very comfortable mountain cabin with everything we needed. We'll be back!

Awesome cabin right in the heart of RMNP!

  • 5 of 5

Perfect for my family to spend New Years weekend in! Got lots of snowshoeing and hiking in with pretty great winter weather.

No negative feedback just recommendations:

- downstairs shower was a little slow and might need some drano

- We ran out of trash bags

Other than that awesome. Thanks for sharing your cabin with us!

Amazing Christmas Vacation at Bierhaus!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had an amazing experience while staying at Bierhaus for the holidays. The property was perfect for our family. Everything was updated and exactly as advertised. The location is perfect; just a few minutes into town and very easy access to RMNP. The view from the living room was breathtaking. We were able to enjoy the wood burning fireplace while watching the snow outside. The kitchen has all updated appliances and we were able to enjoy great holiday meals right in the cabin. We could not have asked for a more comfortable and luxurious stay. We will certainly plan to stay here again.

Beautiful Cabin, Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at Bierhaus the first week in November this year. The cabin was wonderful, beautifully kept, and located perfectly. We could easily walk into Rocky Mountain National Park and we loved the sounds of the mountain stream that goes by the front door. It was very easy to get to downtown Estes Park and the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. The cabin had anything we could have wanted, and we actually cooked several meals in the cabin instead of going out. Greg was super helpful with any questions we had. It was hands down on of our favorite vacations we've ever taken and we plan to come back again next year!

Perfect!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time! The home was perfect. Very nice inside with new appliances and nice decor. Great use of space inside. The kitchen was stocked with every modern convenience. We enjoyed the cozy comforts of the home which was very quiet. No loud neighbors. I would highly recommend this rental and I will be back to enjoy this treasure again. Very close to trails and 5 minutes to town. Don't hesitate this gem will be booked for a long time.

Also, on a personal note, the renter could not have been more accommodating . He is a great guy! I have stayed at very homes over the years and I have high expectations and they were all met at this rental.

Enjoy! You will be happy.

Elk and deer are extremely common on the grounds. It is important that guests, especially children, understand the dangers of getting too close...or trying to feed the wildlife.
