Overview

About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Bierhaus is a fantastic family vacation home 200 feet from the Big Thompson River. It has been recently updated with new paint, living room furniture, all new comfy mattresses, kitchen island granite, and charming remodeled bathrooms. Bierhaus boasts many repeat visitors as well.

Our cabin is a fully inspected and permitted Estes Valley Vacation Home (operating permit #6023)

It is just a very short walk, less than 1/4 mile, to get into Rocky Mountain National Park and begin your hike. You can sit on the sofa and look out the picture window and watch elk and deer stroll by (this is actually very common). Bierhaus sits at the base of Giant Track Mountain and looks out across the Big Thompson River towards Eagle Cliff Mountain and the continental divide. It is a relaxing stay with plenty to do. Bierhaus is in the Aspen Brook community with very private grounds you can walk, including an area for bonfires as well as a playground for an absolutely great family vacation. The Aspen Brook community sits on the Big Thompson River.

Location, Location, Location. One of the truly unique features of Bierhaus is its location. You can avoid any Estes Park traffic simply walking 5 minutes and you are in Rocky Mountain National Park (see map on the right). One of the most common areas visited by elk, Moraine Park, is a brief hike from the house. The RMNP shuttle bus stops at the Moraine Park Museum during the summer. You can use the shuttle to get to many other trail heads further into the park. No need to find a parking spot at a crowded trail head!

Bierhaus is beautifully furnished and equipped to make your stay relaxing...or as active as you desire. It has a master bedroom (queen bed) on the first floor with a full bath. There are two bedrooms on the second floor that share a bathroom. One of the upstairs bedrooms has a queen bed and the other is a 'bunk room' with a set of bunk beds that are twin-size. Each bedroom has its own closet. The great room has a sofa and loveseat with a large table for games and a great fireplace. The kitchen is fully equipped for whatever you might need. Bierhaus has a complete laundry room with a large clothes washer and dryer. The home also has a deck with a gas BBQ pit and fantastic views. You can relax on the deck with a book and clearly hear the Big Thompson River, or just watch the wildlife.

As a guest in Bierhaus you will have access to a playground and large picnic area, all adjacent to the river.

Things to do (besides relaxing and hiking):

Hire a fishing guide

Rent a bike in town

Check into a white water rafting trip in town

Take a rock climbing lesson

Try a snowshoe adventure

Go on a horseback ride

Take a day trip to Eldora to ski

Cook some smores at the firepit

Take a wildlife drive/hike

Altitude: 7,800 feet!

About Greg Bier

While vacationing in Estes Park for the last 35 years it has been our family's dream to 'own a piece of the Rockies'. Bierhaus is that. It has been in our family for about 23 years. While our piece of property is very small it has a large history. There is a mineral claim on it from 1875. It was part of the Dunraven Estate. If you read the history of Estes Park you'll see how it all fits in.

We believe the Colorado Rockies are as beautiful as the Alps and more beautiful than the Canadian Rockies.

This - is heaven.

Greg Bier purchased this cabin in 1993

Why Greg Bier chose Aspen Brook

Location, Location, Location. Bierhaus is its own trail head...there is NO NEED to drive into Rocky Mountain National Park and find a trail head parking space. Bierhaus is about 3.0 miles from the center of Estes Park. It is part of the small Aspen Brook community which is on the Big Thompson River.

What makes this cabin unique

Bierhaus is a unique jumping off point for the whole family. It is convenient to Estes Park yet within walking distance of great restaurants such as the Dunraven Inn. You can walk to the YMCA of the Rockies and take full advantage of all the programs they have to offer (nominal membership may apply).

Bierhaus is its own trail head. From the cabin's deck you can hike directly into Rocky Mountain National Park without having to drive into the park.

The cabin is very close to Estes Park yet it sits in a very quiet, family-friendly area without the town's summer crowds.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a great time staying at Bierhaus! The cabin was awesome and located within walking distance of Rocky Mountain National Park. This was one of the best vacations we have ever had, and we are excited to come back again in the future!

Very well appointed cabin in the perfect location

  • 5 of 5

Four of us took a long weekend hoping to catch the Aspen trees turn gold and hear the elk bugling. Our first afternoon we walked into Moraine Park and heard the elk. There was a herd of about 20 of them with 4-5 bull elks bugling. We did several other hikes, many of them from the cabin so we didn't even have to drive into RMNP.

Bierhaus is in a very quiet area and was the perfect location for a get-away weekend.

Perfect location and great cabin!!

  • 4 of 5

This was our first stay at Bierhaus; but very happy with the experience. Accommodations we're great and the location was perfect! Real close to the park, nature and the best restaurants! Would definitely stay here again! Only downside was 3rd bedroom was bunk beds. A challenge for adults but other rooms were great.

Nice cabin, good location.

  • 4 of 5

Most of my complaints about my Estes Park vacation (crowds and weather) had nothing to do with the cabin, which we found to be nice and well appointed. We stayed July 28-Aug 3, which probably coincided with the last vacation rush before school starts. Estes was packed with people to the point that going into town was unpleasant. But I digress.

The cabin was clean and comfortable. Despite sleeping 6, there was only enough seating on the deck for 3 people. So we bought a couple of folding chairs and left them there. Hopefully subsequent guests can enjoy them. The locked pantry (not unusual for vacation rentals) required us to store groceries on the counters. But I loved the brand new grill.... it cooked steaks wonderfully.

Owner's Response: We take a significant amount of pride in offering an extremely well-maintained and comfortable cabin for other families to enjoy. The cabin is our home away from home. We typically use the adjacent laundry room cabinets for our food supplies when we are there and it seems to have worked fine for years.

Elk and deer are extremely common on the grounds. It is important that guests, especially children, understand the dangers of getting too close...or trying to feed the wildlife.
