Bedrooms 3
Space 1,100 sq ft
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 7)

(Registration #6023) Bierhaus is a fantastic family vacation home 200 feet from the Big Thompson River. It has been recently updated with new paint, living room furniture, comfy bedding, kitchen island granite, and charming remodeled bathrooms. The cabin is exceptionally well maintained, very well furnished in a mountain theme, with a well-equipped kitchen and laundry room. Bierhaus boasts many repeat visitors.

It is just a very short walk, less than 1/4 mile, to get into Rocky Mountain National Park and begin your hike. You can sit on the sofa and look out the picture window and watch elk and deer stroll by (this is actually very common). Bierhaus sits at the base of Giant Track Mountain and looks out across the Big Thompson River towards Eagle Cliff Mountain and the continental divide. It is a relaxing stay with plenty to do. Bierhaus is in the Aspen Brook community with very private grounds you can walk, including a playground for an absolutely great family vacation. The Aspen Brook community sits directly adjacent to the Big Thompson River.

Location, Location, Location. One of the truly unique features of Bierhaus is its location. You can avoid any Estes Park traffic simply walking 5 minutes and you are in Rocky Mountain National Park (see map). One of the most common areas visited by elk, Moraine Park, is a brief hike from the house. The RMNP shuttle bus stops at the Moraine Park Museum during the summer. You can use the shuttle to get to many other trail heads further into the park. No need to find a parking spot at a crowded trail head!

Bierhaus is beautifully furnished and equipped to make your stay relaxing...or as active as you desire. It has a master bedroom (queen bed) on the first floor with a full bath. There are two bedrooms on the second floor that share a bathroom. One of the upstairs bedrooms has a queen bed and the other is a 'bunk room' with another queen bed and a twin bunk above. Each bedroom has its own closet. The great room has a sofa and love seat with a large table for games and a great (gas) fireplace. The kitchen is fully equipped for whatever you might need. Bierhaus has a complete laundry room with a large clothes washer and dryer. The home also has a deck with a gas BBQ pit and fantastic views. You can relax on the deck with a book and clearly hear the Big Thompson River, or just watch the wildlife.

Our cabin is a fully inspected and permitted Estes Valley Vacation Home . A photo ID will be required prior to check in.

As a guest in Bierhaus you will have access to a playground and large picnic area, adjacent to the river.

About Greg Bier

While vacationing in Estes Park for the last 35 years it has been our family's dream to 'own a piece of the Rockies'. Bierhaus is that. It has been in our family for about 25 years. While our piece of property is very small it has a large history. There is a mineral claim on it from 1875. It was part of the Dunraven Estate. If you read the history of Estes Park you'll see how it all fits in.

We believe the Colorado Rockies are as beautiful as the Alps and more beautiful than the Canadian Rockies.

This - is heaven.

Greg Bier purchased this cabin in 1993

Why Greg Bier chose Aspen Brook

Location, Location, Location. Bierhaus is its own trail head...there is NO NEED to drive into Rocky Mountain National Park and find a trail head parking space. Bierhaus is about 3.0 miles from the center of Estes Park. It is part of the small Aspen Brook community which is on the Big Thompson River.

What makes this cabin unique

Bierhaus is a unique jumping off point for the whole family. It is convenient to Estes Park yet within walking distance of great restaurants such as the Dunraven Inn. You can walk to the YMCA of the Rockies and take full advantage of all the programs they have to offer (nominal membership may apply).

Bierhaus is its own trail head. From the cabin's deck you can hike directly into Rocky Mountain National Park without having to drive into the park.

The cabin is very close to Estes Park yet it sits in a very quiet, family-friendly area without the town's summer crowds.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a great time staying at Bierhaus! The cabin was awesome and located within walking distance of Rocky Mountain National Park. This was one of the best vacations we have ever had, and we are excited to come back again in the future!

Very Cozy Cabin in the Woods!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay here! It’s very clean and comfortable. Well stocked with basic supplies and essentials. The neighborhood is very nice, close to town yet far enough to feel secluded. Our daughters wanted to visit a cabin in the woods and this matched our expectations perfectly! The owners were great to work with!!

Great cabin, great location!!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 had a great stay, cabin had everything we needed to take advantage of all of the great things Estes Park has to offer. Enjoyed skiing, hiking, sledding, snowshoeing, and even a show at the Stanley Hotel! Cabin is conveniently located very near RMNP and downtown Estes. Really enjoyed watching it snow while sitting in front of the cozy fireplace. Greg was great to work with and very attentive to our needs to ensure our stay was great. We will be back!!!

Cozy Cabin adjacent to RMNP

  • 5 of 5

Had a great vacation at Estes Park, just a short hike to Moraine Park from the cabin. Cabin was comfortable and well maintained. Kitchen was well equipped. Saw turkeys and mule deer right outside the cabin. The gas fireplace was cozy. Cabin was a perfect getaway for a relaxing weekend in the mountains. I highly recommend this cabin and plan to return again soon.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for the great review. Our family has spent a lot of time at the cabin over the last 25 years so it is well suited for a family get-away. The location is the key to why we purchased the property. The ability to simply walk into one of the best wildlife viewing areas in RMNP cannot be understated. As you can imagine, our housekeepers are very detail oriented and we've had them for years. Greg

Cozy Christmas getaway

  • 4 of 5

Bierhaus was a great, cozy cabin to spend Christmas in. We had my elderly mother with us and other than helping her up the steps, she was very comfortable, as we all were. Neat, tidy, well kept, in a gorgeous location. I would make a return visit and recommend it to anyone. My only issue was the bedroom over the kitchen has a very uncomfortable mattress; sort of bouncy and wobbly, so anytime anyone moved, the whole bed moved. Everything else was excellent!

Owner's Response: Beds are certainly a vacation home challenge. Some guests prefer soft. Some guests prefer hard. While all the Bierhaus beds are quality pieces and less than 4 years old, we understand it can be hard to find one that supports all tired hikers juuuuuust right.

Amazing! Amazing! Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

We are so blessed and thankful for a perfect Christmas, family vacation at Bierhaus! The cabin is so much more than we expected and the location was perfect! This cozy and comfortable cabin was filled with all the essentials including paper goods, laundry soap, toiletries, plenty of towels, sheets and blankets, board games to play, DVD's to enjoy, and so much more! The location is just like it states; a close walk to hiking and exploring the Rockies, yet a close drive to the great, little town of Estes Park! We hope to return one day because our stay was so incredible and enjoyable! It was hard to say goodbye. Thank you for your hospitality!

One small suggestion (just in case we come back next Christmas)... it would be so nice if the cabin was decorated with Christmas decorations🎄

Estes Park is a great place to visit YEAR ROUND! Hike in the summer. See the aspen trees turn gold and hear the elk bugle in the fall. Snowshoe in the winter. See the wildlife come down from the mountains in the spring.

Bierhaus is about three miles from downtown Estes Park. It is in a quiet family setting adjacent to the Big Thompson River. The cabin looks out towards Eagle Cliff Mountain. You can walk directly into Rocky Mountain National Park from the deck. During the summer this means you can avoid some of the more crowed trail heads. One of the best places to see wildlife in the park, Moraine Park, is an easy, and level, 3/4 mile walk from the cabin.

Elk, turkey, and mule deer are extremely common on the grounds. It is important that guests, especially children, understand the dangers of getting too close...or trying to feed, the wildlife. It is not unusual to have bears in the vicinity. While they are quite interesting to watch, it is very important to not leave food in your car or on the cabin's deck. They WILL smell it.
