we are a family of 4, and have enjoyed this house for years..It is MY 48th summer in this house. My parents built it in 1965 and it was designed by Horace Gifford.
Beth Manitsky purchased this house in 1963
because it's an easy house. it's wood, kid friendly and comfy! We provide safety gates, and toys from 0-11. we provide all towels, sheets, bikes and more!
stays cooler downstairs, big glass doors! we are on the ferry & lifeguard block. we are 1 block from our fabulous market.
This home is a beautiful example of Fire Island architecture. The 2nd level living/kitchen area is octagonal with FOUR decks with screened doors to allow for unlimited flow of sea air. The kitchen is large and easy for multiple chefs to move around. We had 4 adults and 2 kids and everyone had an amazing week. Its steps from the beach and you cant help but be relaxed and refreshed after time spent in this home!
We've stayed here for 2 years and we're going back this summer for our third year. This place is the perfect family beach house. Comfortable, airy and all of the necessities of beach life are there.
I can't recommend this house enough! My family of 6 has stayed here several times over the years and we hope to continue going back. This house is perfectly located, family friendly, well kept, and homey. The Seaview Ferry drops you blocks away from the house. The local market is a quick bike ride away. Ocean View is easy to get to as well. The beach is right down the path. The kiddie swimming pool & playground are seconds away. Need I say more? This beach house doesn't feel like a rental, it feels like it's my house with all of the perks of hotel and then some. Outdoor shower, bikes for all, a grill on the porch.....Really, all you need to bring are your clothes. There is so much charm here. It's certainly a Fire Island classic.

A wonderful house tucked in a dreamy neighborhood of paths, leaning trees and friendly strolling people. Besides being a brief walk to the beach and its wonder, this place captured our hearts. It has a unique style with a central staircase up the middle of the robust, warm-toned wooden structure. The bottom floor has bedrooms, at least three comfortable bedrooms tucked away, as well as a couple of clean bathrooms.
Our stay was a dreamy, wonderful vacation. The second floor is an open kitchen/living room/dinning room which was charming and just felt awesome to hang out in and enjoy the afternoon sun, plus it has four different balcony patios to lounge on-or grill. The kitchen was great fun to cook in as it opens to the rest of the space so even though it's a large high-ceiling space, everyone can be in the same room but off in different worlds, whether its watching TV or DVDs in one area, cooking up some great food in the kitchen, or eating or studying on the dining table (plus a sweet wall of mystery books). The kids have a great play area here too that doubles as a dance floor if you have the inclination. . .
We can't wait to get back there!
I totally agree with the other review. We also loved the outdoor shower and the Seaview market, which seemed to carry everything. We came one week in summer 2011, 2 weeks in summer 2012, and would spend our life there if we could! The house looks better in reality than on the pictures. We really recommend this place. My husband, I and our 3 kids all love it.
The house is perfect for a summer trip away from the city for families. Besides being only one and half blocks from the ferry and the local store, it is half a block from the beach. The house comes with EVERYTHING that you could use at the beach, including sand toys for the kids. Also, Seaview is the only town that has a community children's pool, as well as a blocked off area in the bay with a pontoon to relax on and a playground for the kids in one place. It is only a short walk away or a quick bike ride. In the other direction is Ocean Beach where a number of restaurants and other attractions are. The house comes with bicycles, as well as a hitch to give the kids a ride. The house is set up for families with the bedrooms downstairs, where it stays nice and cool at night. With three bedrooms (including one room with two twin beds) there is enough space for everyone. Upstairs is an open area with decks on all four sides. The grill was super easy to use and we b-b-qed every day for our meals. For the occasional day where you don't want to head out because you got too much sun or it is that rare day that it is overcast, there are enough activities and toys to keep the kids busy, as well as satellite television. The open space makes it easy to keep track of everyone, while still giving everyone their own space.
STEPS from the beach- close to ocean beach (the town with shops and restaurants).
Access to seaview bay beach, baby pool, playground, tennis courts AND THE BEACH!!
