Celebrate Acadia National Park's 100th Anniversary in 2016 while staying at Western Bay Shores cottage - less than 20 minutes to the main entrance of the park.

Enjoy your morning coffee with the beauty of sunrise over the bay and the Acadia mountains. Strolling the shore, beachcombing, enjoying the eagles and seals are all part of this area of Maine. Western Bay Shores is a lovely, comfortable, and well-maintained 4-bedroom with nearly every room having a view. (Take a look at our other property, Home Away # 3830794 too.)

Post & beam home on 3 floors, provides plenty of space for everyone and privacy. Plus, have easy access to the shore for kayaks and canoes. Convenient location to all the Down East sights - less than 20 min to Acadia Nat'l Park, 25 minutes to Bar Harbor. On the way back, stop at Trenton Lobster Pound just a couple of miles from the house for lobsters to cook (or eat there).

Also on 2nd Fl - 1 Queen BR, hallway full bath with shower/tub combo. On 3rd Floor - 2 Full-size Beds, and additional TV / game room with futon/couch.

Large fenced-in yard - perfect for families and your dog. Two decks with patio dining, gas BBQ grill. Stairs to shore with kayak ramp & pulley. Easy to rent kayaks to be delivered/picked-up for the week - ask for our recommendation.

The breakfast nook has a pub table with 4 stools - perfect place for morning coffee or kids afternoon coloring. Comfortable dining room seats 6, and roomy living areas - plenty of room to spread out.

Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park and Visitor's Center less than 20 minutes away. Conveniently located between nearby towns of Ellsworth and Bar Harbor, Southeast Harbor and more villages on Mount Desert Island. Nearby shopping, artisan shops, farmer's market, miniature golf, dining, ice cream, lumberjack show, miniature golf and more!

About Daria Duda & Scott Morrison

Scott & Daria have been visiting the Bar Harbor area for many years and fell in the love with the area. They purchased Western Bay Shores in 2012, and another property a few miles away in 2014. They enjoy time here in the off-seasons as well. Back in Philadelphia, Scott is known for his award-winning beer, and helping new start-up breweries, while Daria works in marketing at a technology company.

Why Daria Duda & Scott Morrison chose Downeast and Acadia

When Scott & Daria bought Western Bay Shores, the former owners provided a comprehensive 'book' of everything about the house - ending their description with 'It's a special place.' This statement couldn't be more true … you'll find relaxation and enjoyment here at this home - it truly is a special place and we are happy that we can have our guests enjoy this slice of Maine as much as we do.

What makes this house unique

Moon rise over the water - truly awesome, especially during a full moon. And the sunrises can be spectacular.

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

We spent the last week of June in this beautiful home. Three couples shared the home and had plenty of space. The kitchen is stocked with everything you might need! The views are beautiful with easy access to the water. Very quiet location but close to the park. It is a great place for couples and families!

This place is beautiful. Enjoy coffee on the deck with a beautiful view. House was fantastic. We had such a great time. The location is very good. Get ready to crack those lobsters. Enjoy a fire on the beach or at the fire pit. You will love it.

Wonderful home!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay in this home at the end of May. It was perfect for my husband and me and our 4 kids. The house is so neat, with 3 floors, plenty of beds, and lots of nooks and crannies the kids loved exploring. We enjoyed walking the shoreline at low tide, and when it got dark, settling down to play games. We were thrilled to find most of our family's favorite games on the shelves in this home. The kitchen was well-stocked with cooking utensils and pots and pans. We especially appreciated the" visitor's manual" provided with numerous recommendations of things to do, as well as all the info we would need about the house itself. The owners also made themselves available via text message if we had any questions. We spent most of our time on Mount Desert Island, and the distance from this home to MDI was very manageable; yet we loved that it was secluded from the busyness and traffic of the island. We would definitely recommend this home to friends and stay there again!

Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

If you are reading this review, stop and just book the house if it's available for your vacation. It's absolutely perfect. We rented here in April 2016. The home was spotless, totally clean. It's set up in a very relaxing way. There are views from every window. Tons of space for everyone to spread out and relax. The furniture is all very comfortable and clean. This house is not filled with old furniture the owners didn't want any longer. All the furniture is mostly new and very clean and comfortable. There were to s of towels available and they were really nice, plush soft towels. Plenty of toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent... Everything needed was at this house. The yard is beautiful and very well maintained. The ocean frontage is just beautiful. And the owners were really fantastic to work with while we reserved the home. We will absolutely be back. It was really hard to leave after spending a week in this beautiful home.

Owner's Response: Hi Nicole, Wow - thank you for your glowing review. We are so happy to hear that you and your family enjoyed the home and location. We fell in the love with the place when we bought it (the previous owners had left an overview for us calling this home a "special place" - and they were right!), and am glad that you and your family found it just as cool and special as we do. We hope you're able to visit again sometime! Have a wonderful rest of your Summer!

Fantastic Stay!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Western Shores was better than we even anticipated. The home is beautiful, well stocked with anything we could need and the views are spectacular! Enjoyed walking the shores right at the edge of the property. Quick drive to Acadia and Bar Harbor. There were eight of us staying at the house and there was plenty of room for all.

Everything about our trip was amazing!

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect! It was very accommodating, comfortable and cozy. The description of the house was right on and very clean when we arrived. The location was great also. The backyard was perfect for the dogs to run around and the little beach with a fire-pit was great. We were out there almost every night. We loved walking around during low tide as well. It was an easy drive to all of our hikes and driving to Bar Harbor. We would definitely recommend this rental to anyone we know! And if we ever decide to go back we would stay there again in a second!

Western Bay Shores is a lovely 4-bedroom home situated on 1.5 acres with 200' of private shore on Western Bay in Trenton.

Centrally located halfway between Ellsworth and the town of Bar Harbor and less than 20 minutes from Acadia National Park, and the Hulls Cove Visitor's center. Hike and bike or enjoy the scenic Loop Road en route to Jordan Pond, Sand Beach and Thunder Hole.

The cottage features 200' of private shore - sunbathe, beachcomb, or rent kayaks or canoes (can be delivered to the house for the week). Two decks for outdoor dining and relaxing. Fenced-in yard is great for the kids and your small family dog to run around too!

Four bedrooms including 1 King Master BR with sitting area and own bath, 1 Queen, 1 bedroom with 2 full beds on the 3rd floor, and 1 bedroom with 2 twins on the first floor. First floor also features living and dining rooms, kitchen and 1/2 bath.

Washer/dryer, HDTVs, Cable TV, and WIFI throughout. Rainy day? No problem - choose Wii, enjoy a movie or play a board game. Like to cook? Stocked kitchen provides you the basics, cookware and utensils. BBQ Gas Grill and grill utensils, too.

The town of Ellsworth is just 15 minutes up the road with quaint shops, and restaurants. Pick up fresh, local produce at the Ellsworth Farmer's Market or visit the historic Woodlawn Museum.

Mount Desert Island and Bar Harbor (11 miles) feature numerous shops, movie theater and dining (favorites by far are Cafe This Way and McKays or head to Town Hill Bistro in Town Hill). Go for a boat ride and enjoy the fresh ocean air.

Attractions: Whether you have kids or not, check out Diver Ed, who launches daily excursions from the College of the Atlantic (20 minutes). It's a fantastic, must do activity. Other favorites include Pirates Cove Adventure Miniature Golf and Abbe Museum.

After your day of hiking Cadillac Mountain, biking the carriage roads or strolling through Bar Harbor, come home to Western Bay Shores - cook up your fresh lobsters by the sounds of the bay, have a campfire on the beach and relax!

At night, don't forget to look up to enjoy the moon rise over the water and unbelievable star gazing.

It's a special place.
