The Hideaway is one of six luxury residences located within the unique development of the Sunset Harbour Estate on Harbour Island. The community is situated on just over 2-acres, with its own deep water private dock.

This wonderful 3 bed, 2.5 bath, 1,800 sq. ft. home features an upside down layout with the bright kitchen/living area upstairs and the guest bedrooms downstairs. The master bedroom with ensuite bath is located off of the kitchen/dining area. A wide outside covered deck offers glimpses of the sea, an ideal place for relaxing or entertaining. There is also an upstairs powder room and storage area. The upper floor can be accessed either by internal stairs from the front door or by wide external wooden stairs onto the sun deck. Downstairs, there are two spacious bedrooms which share a full bath and a TV room. There is an outside covered terrace and a tropical garden. It is a secure property with a locking, sliding metal gate at each entrance.

Features of this house include, but are not limited to: central A/C, ceiling fans, laundry room, storage space, hurricane proof windows and doors. The property is connected to the Sunset Harbour Estate Reverse Osmosis water system and has use of an emergency generator.

Secluded gem in the heart of Harbour Island

This was my second time staying at the Hideaway this year and it never disappoints. I've stayed at most of the major hotels on the island and still prefer this place. There's just something about the charm of this house and the convenience of sharing a kitchen, pool and space with your closest family and friends that makes it a far more special experience. It's well maintained, decorated after an Instagram blogger's dream and has so much character. It's definitely become my go to spot!

THE PERFECT RELAXING FAMILY GETAWAY

Everything about our stay at the Hideaway was FIVE STAR! Catherine was so on top emails to ensure our stay was planned and ready! She was quick to respond to any questions about the home or the island (even when I was not, sorry! eekkk) The Hideaway team was on top of everything we needed while on the island as well! We were greeted by Harrison upon our arrival and Thomassa cooked the BEST LOBSTER EVER!!! (if you are planning to stay at THE HIDEAWAY! Make sure you have her cook for you...and order the lobster!!) The home was the perfect size for our busy family! We traveled with 4 kiddos and set of the home was perfect for us! We love HAROUR ISLAND and THE HIDEWAY..we hope to return very soon!

Great Amenities

The Hideaway offers all of the spaces and amenities you need for a great vacation.The house is clean with a great two story layout. It offers a private pool and two sun decks. It is centrally located on Harbour Island. The property manager and housekeeper were very accommodating while we were there. The owner of the house takes personal interest to make sure your stay is a good one.

The Hideaway on Harbour Island

We stayed at the Hideaway house on Harbor Island in late June. Great house, exactly as advertised. The owner takes great pride in this house. The entire house inside and out was recently renovated, everything worked perfectly, even the backup generator that is shared with the house behind this house. when we lost power (a frequent thing in the Bahamas) the generator kicked in almost immediately. Very important in the summer months as the temps are hot and humid in the summer. 3 bedrooms: one up stairs by the kitchen, and two bedrooms downstairs. Location of this house is not on the beach, it is in town, so rent a golf cart, you cannot walk to much of anything from this house. Owner will set up golf cart rental for you, so it waiting at the house when you arrive. Beds very comfortable, air works great, TV's in every bedroom, local phone for calling restaurants, pool is fresh salt water pool (no chorline), so you don't smell like chorline when you get out of the pool. Daily maid service was nice to have fresh towels every night upon our return from the beach each day. The people of the Bahamas are very, very nice and helpful, we did not run into a single person that was not very friendly and helpful. The Pink Sand Beach is a 5 minute golf cart ride away over a hill on the Atlantic side of the island. there is no beach on the Caribbean side of the island. Sip Sip for lunch on Pink Sand Beach is a must. Queen Conch for Conch Salad is another must. Very nice restaurants in the upscale hotels on Pink Sand Beach, bring a collared shirt for guys and sundress for ladies. We did not cook much while here, lots of restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner are on Harbour Island. This island is pretty developed in comparison to most other Bahamas islands we have visited. This is not a deserted island, you will have other tourists to deal with, and during high season you will most likely need reservations at the better popular restaurants. For a side trip suggestion: We rented a car and explored the main island for a day. Great adventure, very nice people. You can drive the entire length of the island in about 2 to 3 hours depending upon how many stops you make. It took us 6 hours to get from the Northern tip to the Southern tip because we stopped to snorkel and eat lunch, but made it back to the boat dock in 2.5 hours after dark because we did not stop. Last water taxi over to Harbour Island is at 11:pm

Spectacular stay at a great house

By the photos and the description, we decided to rent this house. We were excited as we'd been to Harbour Island before but stayed at a resort. Now that we were 6 people, a house was a better choice and what a great choice it was.

The photos really don't do the house justice. It is super roomy and very well appointed. The kitchen is missing nothing. The size is perfect, not too big and not too small. We enjoyed using the outdoor dining table at the balcony once, but normally, we all just ate at the kitchen counter. The balcony seating is wonderful for intimate conversations while enjoying the breeze. We used the pool one night and although small, it was large enough to talk and enjoy some drinks at. We didn't use the billiard table but I am sure it would be great for next time.

The beds were comfortable, as were the room sizes. The air conditioning systems worked well both upstairs and downstairs. The availability of the generator was a life saver, as prior to our arrival, one of the transformers on the island had blown and if it weren't for that generator, we would have been in the dark and in the heat a couple of nights.

Harrison, the property manager, was great. He arranged for us to get two golf carts upon arrival and helped us find our bearings on the island. Then upon departure, he met us at the house to arrange a taxi, who never came, so he took us to the dock himself. The owner was always available to communicate with...and even afterwards when I forgot some clothing at the house.

Whether you are a couple, friends or family, this house is a wonderful option to staying at a resort. The Pink Sands beach is literally around the corner! Thanks Catherine and I look forward to returning very soon.

Hideaway on Harbour Island

We have been going to Harbour Island for 20 years and this was the first time we rented a home there. It was a wonderful experience! Hideaway is in a fabulous, central location and the house is gorgeous. All aspects of renting the property, arrival, and departure were seamless. Catherine made everything incredibly easy. We were so happy and plan on returning again next summer!

Rated as one of the 'Best Bahamas Beaches' by the likes of Fodor's, Frommers and The Travel Channel, Harbour Island Bahamas is famous for its three and a half miles of hard packed picture perfect pink sand beaches. Warm clear ocean waters provide excellent diving, fishing and boating while outlying reefs provide safe swimming and snorkeling. The people are friendly and the island is easy to navigate. Golf carts, the transportation of choice, make touring the island both fun and relaxing.

The sand is truly pink, the water is truly aquamarine, and there are so few people around that it feels like yours alone.
