Our hosts Patsi and Brian were charming hosts.
We had a wonderful weekend vacation. Thanks!
Beautiful, peaceful retreat
Brian and Patsi were by far the most accommodating hosts we have ever stayed with! The house was extremely clean and quaint. What a perfect location with short easy access to both downtown and Tybee beach. Perfect in between location in a serene setting that makes for a perfect getaway. The kayaks were a wonderful way to start each Morning. This is by far one of the most characterful homes I have ever stayed in. Next time I come to Savannah I will 100% be requesting to stay here. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. Thank you so much for the most relaxing getaway. We definitely needed it!
Ideal Spring Get-Away!
The Boathouse was an absolute hidden gem in the Savannah-Tybee area! The house is immacuately thought out and structured. I loved the lighting. There are tons of windows, which let in so much sun. But you can also close the wooden blinds, and have complete privacy. A lot of the light switches have dimmers on them, so we never had harsh bright light, and could leave a light on, dimmed, so we could see when we came home at night. We loved that the living area and sleeping areas were on two separate floors. Also, the upper floor (bedroom) was huge, including a nice bathroom, and a closet. There was also a dresser and dressing table that all had empty drawers. My husband and I were able to put all our clothes "away" and I think that added so much to our trip--it felt like we were home, not living out of a suitcase. There was also a dirty clothes basket, a small but wonderful touch. We spent a lot of time sitting on the upper deck, attached to the bedroom, soaking in the sun, planning each day.
We daily ate breakfast, and usually one other meal, at the boathouse. We used the kitchen bar, and both the patio and upper deck to dine. We loved the big double sink, gas range in the house, and also used the grill outside. There are also grocery stores close, so shopping was easy.
We also spent time out on the dock. It was extremely relaxing watching all the birds. However, the biggest suprise: dolphins! We got to watch 2 dolphins fishing one afternoon at about 4 p.m. They worked together to push fish onto the bank, where they trapped them and ate them. It was crazy, but neat too. We used the kayaks, which was a really great, free perk of the boathouse rental. I'd never kayaked before, but found it was pretty easy--unless rowing against the tide. I don't have a tide when canoeing in Illinois: lesson learned!
Jasper (black and white property cat) was also a friendly little companion to the house. He was usually very interested in what we were doing. He watched and followed us quite a bit, and eventually allowed us a few quick pets. He was usually at the door each morning, meowing greetings to us.
Overall, this small rental, set far back from the road, was a quiet peaceful retreat. There are neighbors, and a little bit of road noise at times, but they were never loud; it was the ideal environment we were hoping for. If we are back in the area again, this will be the first place we try to book!
Lots of trees and advanced appliances
We loved the many trees, bushes, leaves on the ground, azalea blossoms around the house. The owners were friendly and communication with texting worked fine. Kitchen appliances are new and have a high standard (e.g. T-fal, Kenmore). We also liked visits by the cat. We think that it is a quiet place. The Islands Expressway passes close by, but is distant enough not to bother. All the property is clean and well maintained. We would like to come back. We were at the shopping center around the corner, at Tybee Island, and in the Historic District of Savannah.
We loved it
Beautiful place. Very relaxing, and romantic getaway. Owners are wonderful.
Right out of Southern Living Magazine!
We very much enjoyed our stay at The Boat House. Every detail was thought of when decorating. It truly looks like it was ripped from the pages of Southern Living Mag! Beautiful inside! I can't say enough about how relaxing this house is. Its tucked away on a property with heavy foliage, so you feel secluded even though there are houses next door and behind it. The house is somewhat between downtown Savannah and Tybee Island, so we easily visited both areas. The only thing that would have made this place any better was if it was directly next to the water. You have to walk through the yard of the main house to get to the water. That's not a problem at all but it as chilly out, so we opted to not do it. The owners are extremely thoughtful and checked in with us periodically via text. We would definately rent this house again if we are back in Savannah.
Two beach bikes are available for cruising around Whitemarsh Island, Two Ocean Kayaks are on the shared deep water dock for you to paddle around Richardson Creek and the surrounding marshes, Enjoy Fishing, Crabbing and Swimming from the Deep Water Dock, Park your boat at the floating dock while you enjoy your stay at The Boathouse. Watch the big Ships as they come-in and go-out the Savannah River between Fort Palaski on Cockspur Island & Elba Island near Downtown Savannah from the dock.
