Hi, I am the owner/manager. Originally from England, I am knocked out by the scenery in and around Flagstaff. I also appreciate the arts and love the quirky college town feel of Flag. We've now moved to CA, but still enjoy the cottage we can. In summer we enjoy sitting on the deck looking up at Mount Elden, shaded by the quaking Aspen, and watching the golf balls drop into the duck pond. When my dogs were younger I ran with them through the forest surrounding the Country Club. Later as older dogs they watched the world go by from the deck. And a squirrel climbing a nearby tree was all they needed to make their day. Now they have gone, we still allow pets at the cottage and find our pet owning renters to be wonderful and respectful of the beautiful retreat we have created. In fall you can't beat the changing colors and crisp air. The Country Club has more mature deciduous trees turning color than any other part of Flagstaff. In winter the golf course becomes a serene winter wonderland with the Canadian geese visiting by day and the elk sleeping there at night. There's no place in Flagstaff like the Country Club for Spring blossoms. It's wonderful to be so near the trails in the National Forest at Campbell Mesa. As a runner I set off from the cottage and head for the trails. This is hikers and doggy paradise. I am blessed and grateful to share this retreat with my renters, many of whom return year after year. I'd like to thank all our guests for their heart warming comments in the guest book.
Madeleine Sinclair purchased this cottage in 2006
There are many large vacation rentals in Flagstaff but few that are small and desirable. Often couples or small families are forced to pay more for rooms they don't need. If you don't need more than two beds and two baths, you won't find a nicer rental!
In summer, the use of the pool and the discounted golf is such a bonus. The tennis and fitness center are popular and now there is a great refurbished restaurant at the clubhouse with awesome views from inside or out. Kids love the Bear Paw Activity Center with it's pool, spa and activities. The large view deck brings our summer guests back for a return visit, some to paint with watercolors. While winter guests savor the quiet, the bird visitors, geese and elk, the fireplace and the armchair with the Ottoman. The golf course becomes a winter wonderland for sledding. Doggy guests love being four steps from Paradise. All out guests compliment us on the decor and furnishings. The cottage is a place to adopt as your second home and revisit in your memory when you're back at work. It's so popular, I wish I didn't have to turn so many callers away. Book early for summer. And sorry, no monthly discounts in peak season.
We've had a wonderful time at Little Elk - took our kids to The Canyon and into the mountains for some hiking. It was so nice to be outside when it was over 90 degrees back in Phoenix. Little Elk was the perfect place for us - beautiful inside and out! Hope to come back soon...
We were in Flagstaff for snowboarding events at Arizona Snowbowl and found Little Elk.
Not only was this property pet friendly in every way, the furnishings were very comfortable and cozy.
Two bedrooms with a bathroom for each was great!
We had everything we needed, including a washer/dryer.
The golf course was right outside the back slider, where we could watch the geese (watch where you step, lol) and the elk passing through every once in a while. Grocery store is a couple of blocks away.
Nice and quiet.
Will definiltey stay here again!
Maddy is a delightful owner who went more than the extra mile to accommodate us. Arriving late in the afternoon we realized the cottage had not been cleaned, but her response was immediate and within an hour we were settled comfortably in front of the fireplace. Warm and cozy we Tucson weather weenies enjoyed the frosty night.
We loved the time spent here. Very clean which is important to me, comfortable beds and lovely fireplace and views. We had to provide our own hair dryer and buy body wash but everything else was provided. Hair dryer is now there as Madeleine was nice enough to reimburse us the cost of it. Worth the money to rent this lovely place.
This condo/cottage is exactly as depicted in its photos and description. It was the ideal set up for our girl's trip....each having our separate bedroom and bath. The open layout of living, dining and kitchen area allows for great sight lines direct to the deck and onto the golf course & beyond. Also the second bedroom opening out onto the deck is a big plus. We enjoyed nice enough weather in mid-November to sit on the deck for a while. This home has easy access to major roads and there's a nice restaurant right at the golf course. Big thank you to Lance as well as to Maddy, the owner/manager for all your "extra" assistance! Very much appreciated!!
Was a delight to come home after sightseeing in Flagstaff area to a warm, pretty home. Grand Canyon a couple hours away and Sedona 45 minutes. Adequate kitchen supplies, linens and towels provided were just right. Very comfortable beds. Did not use fireplace for time there but perfect for chilly nights. Would love to come again!
Located on Flagstaff's only public golf course in the Continental Country Club and within walking distance of National Forest trails, yet only 7 mins drive to NAU and Historic Downtown Flagstaff with all its unique eateries, boutique shops, galleries and coffee shops. Within the city of Flagstaff, the continental Country club is close to both downtown and NAU, but Surrounded by serene forest on three sides. The Country Club provides easy access to hinking/biking trails and sledding on the Campbell Mesa National Forest Recreation Area. For skiers, AZ Snowbowl is just 25 minutes away. Grand Canyon 90 minutes. Sedona 40 minutes.
Flagstaff Environs: There are more national monuments around Flagstaff than I can mention here, let alone state parks, scenic byways, museums and unique destinations such as the Lowell Observatory. Within easy reach is the Red Rock Country of Sedona, 40 mins. You may have tine to explore the beautiful and little known Rim Country. Or head out to the unique town of Jerome. Luckily, to help plan your schedule, the Flagstaff Visitor Center in Downtown (Old train station) on Route 66 is amply staffed and equipped with everything you'll need from maps and insider tips to the latest weather forecasts for road conditions to the Grand Canyon.
