Bait and Switch to the extreme and the owner and manager are horrible and unaccountable!

  • 1 of 5

We booked this house for the beachfront pool and Jacuzzi. After all, who goes to Mexico to sit in a house the whole time? We travelled down with eight people in all. Four adults and Four kids aged 9-12. The kids were looking forward to hanging out on the pool deck and swimming and the parents were looking forward to watching the kids and sunsets from the Jacuzzi. This was a wonderful plan and as we have done it for the last four years with the same family. We should've chosen another destination and would've if we had been told in advance

When we arrived, we went straight to the pool to find it freezing cold. No big deal, we went to the pool control switch on the living room wall and set it for 84. We then noticed the heater wasn't turning on. We waited about 30 minutes to see if it would switch over, while also checking the propane tank and being sure we set it correctly. Being that both families have pools and Jacuzzis at home, we were certain that it was done correctly.

Once we realized that it wasn't going to turn on at all, I contacted the owner. He filled me full of sorry, sorry, sorry. He then told me that the heater hasn't worked for weeks but he was waiting for a part to come in and then the maintenance guy would come and install it the next day. I had a hard time believing this since I have been coming to Mexico/Baja for decades and I'm fully aware of what Manana means. The next day came and went with no pool guy showing up. So I started texting the owner and the manager again. Just received a whole lot more promises of manana. This went on all week, with them continually lying about the part and the pool guy.

This house is billed as a luxury house. Far from it......! It had no dining table, many of the cabinet doors and drawers are falling off and have holes in them. Three cups in the whole house that is meant for 8-10 people, the microwave kept shorting out multiple times a day. 50% of the patio furniture is busted and completely unsafe. One of the outlets in the master bedroom burnt up one of our phone chargers. The electronic front door lock kept malfunctioning and locked us out one day for about :30. The built in furniture on the lower deck is cracked and crumbling and falling apart with many sharp edges of broken tile to cut yourself up on.

This house has obviously fallen into disrepair and the owner and manager are absent and MIA. The place is a wreck and not worth even half of the advertised price!

Awesome place to stay...rght on the ocean..close to everything!!!!

  • 4 of 5

I highly recommend staying at this awesome, oceanfront rental. 5 minutes to lobsters in Puerto Nuevo, 10 minutes to Las Rocas resort, and 20 minutes to Ensanada. We stayed for New Year's Eve weekend and had a blast. Took a winery tour for the day and enjoyed the ocean view at night. Highly recommend!!!

Great place, bad communication

  • 4 of 5

I rented this house for my birthday along with another of Jason's properties. Also please note I primarily communicated with Kim Kelley, not Jason and have been told she is no longer managing the properties.

The place was awesome! Such an amazing outdoor space with beautiful views. We used the pool and jacuzzi all weekend, we barely even left the house. I had the privilege of sleeping in the large windowed master bedroom. We left the door open a crack to fall asleep to the waves in the evening, so peaceful. Kim warned us the neighbors are strict with noise, however we were surprised to find that on either side of us there were 2 somewhat loud bachelorette parties. Be prepared for possible party people in the neighborhood. The garage was nice and big, but my low to the ground prius could not make it over the steep driveway. I do wish we would have known ahead of time that only some higher cars will be able to get into the garage to park. The kitchen did not have much in it, but we made it work. The indoor space was nice and open. Everything was clean and comfortable. I must mention I did find some minor termite damage on some of the kitchen cabinets, but they assured me they would have it treated right away.

Communication: I should note I am new to VRBO and did not know about the extensive paperwork (therefore did not notice) that was attached without notice in some of the initial emails. The initial response rate for booking was quick. One month before the trip I asked if we could get early check in for one of the two properties. I received an “Ill check.” Then nothing for 21 days. I then asked again, and got nothing back. Finally 1 week before the trip I asked for a 3rd time, and got nothing back. 2 days before the trip I received the welcome letter for 1 of the 2 houses, and asked again about early check in, if they needed the guests names for the gate and a few other things. The DAY OF THE TRIP(as in we are already driving down to Mexico in a packed car, with guests on the way) I received rental agreement paperwork asking for all the guest names. I then had to fill out the paperwork in the car and photograph it to send back to Kim. Finally she responded about the early check in, at a cost. I did not receive the second welcome letter (with info on how to enter the house) until I was already in Mexico at the other property, thank goodness it had wifi. All I can say is I have never had this much hassle on Airbnb, it makes me hesitant to use VRBO

Great, Fun, Beautiful Property. 4.5 Rating

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from our stay for 5 days and had a blast. Everyone loved the Layout of the entire property, every area felt like a new scenery. View was fantastic, living room was fun and large, 2 car Garage was nice to have, LOTS of black granite, Nice cooking equipment inside, Palapa bar was very cool, beach access was easy and fun, heated pool was a plus. However, nothing is perfect so I will share some of the things about this place that take it under from being a perfect 10/10.

My biggest disappointment was that the Pool Filtrations system, pool & spa lights, and Infinity pool overflow feature was not working which made the pool look green and have a relatively bad smell coming off of it. The pool guy came to the house on Friday at around 8am but we couldn't use the pool for 6 hours because he had dumped a bunch of crystalized chlorine that had to soak in. I didn't even realize this and Jumped in after surfing and was burnt by all the chlorine, so we couldn't use it during a peak time on a Friday morning/ early afternoon

Some of the smaller complaints would be the BBQ grill that they said they had in garage was nowhere to be found. The drain by the Lower shower near the Palapa Bar was clogged for we don't know how long, which we did not want to step in because it was full of disgusting water, which we would have found very cool and useful to wash off the salt water after surfing. Spent about an hour trying to set the alarm which we unsuccessful while making sure every door/window was closed multiple times. The maid didn't get done until 4 when our check-in time was "1-2pm", in-fact she just started once we got there at 2:30pm.

Some of the things that the owner had no control of but wanted to share:

The surf break was interesting, it would break on the outside then get really deep and die out, then reform on the inside so there was always this "dead zone" section we had to clear. Surf was fun/ok but had to work for it. The ocean water was murky so we couldn't snorkel. Spotted some Rats by the lower Palapa bar. The neighbors could watch your whole group at the pool from their yards therefore there was not much privacy near the pool area outside. We had THICK fog every day until like 2pm for some weird reason. It was summer time so the heat was kinda bad at night, try to crack a window or two to get some airflow.

Despite my one major concern as stated above (pool), my whole group had a BLAST!
