Hollywood, FL The Hollywood Beach Broadwalk is Florida’s best seaside boardwalk, according to USA Today.
The nationally distributed daily released the results today of a Thanksgiving week poll asking readers to choose between the east coast’s Hollywood Beach Broadwalk and the west coast’s Pier 60 at Clearwater Beach as the seaside promenade that best captures the quintessential Florida beach experience.
“Dr. Beach,” a.k.a. Stephen Leatherman, professor and director of the Laboratory for Coastal Research at Florida International University, Miami, assisted USA Today’s editors in selecting the contenders. The rest was up to the voters.
“Hollywood Beach’s joggers, strollers and bicyclists can take a victory lap today,” said Jorge Camejo, Executive Director of the Hollywood Community Redevelopment Agency. “This validates what the locals already know Hollywood’s Broadwalk offers the best beach experience in the Sunshine State and is a unique American treasure whose renown is steadily growing around the world.”
This national recognition comes on the heels of another high-profile honor for the historic boardwalk built by city founder Joseph Young in the 1920s and renovated in 2008. In October, the 2.5-mile Broadwalk was designated by the American Planning Association (APA) as one of the Top 10 Public Spaces In America for 2013, putting it in the company of such iconic public spaces as New York’s Grand Central Terminal and L.A.’s Grand Park.
Kristina Thompson and Tatiana Sergeeva purchased this condo in 2011
We just returned from spending our short getaway at Hollywood Beach and I can not express enough how PERFECT our stay was! Not only was everything as promised and described but I feel that the owner Kristina went out of her way to welcome us! The condo was just right for the two of us, though most of our time was spent on the beautiful beach or walking on the boardwalk, the king bed was comfortable. Although the kitchen is not that big, it had everything you needed to prepare a meal. We cooked several nights. The unit is tastefully decorated and I loved the bay windows in the bedroom. The unit has its own fast wifi and 2 flat screen TVs
Kristina, I can not thank you enough for letting us enjoy your condo! We are already discussing a return next spring! Highly recommended.
this is the worse property of the homeaway properties, the building is old, with everything in the unit deteriorating and the owner is a horrible racist human being, who lies every chance she gets and is no help. Persons are always in the unit without any notification and the persons at the property tells you they can't help you with any questions.
For this room we got what we paid for. The building is very old and the hallways smelled old. After traveling all day we had trouble with check in because the owners didn't send the correct email to the front desk. I would suggest that you always have the owners phone number on you, it was difficult to find through vrbo. The check in then gave us a bad impression. But once we got settled, the location was good, and the room was fine. Fairly clean but the coffee maker had mold in it. It had been overlooked. For an inexpensive room it was fine, but first impressions are a big deal. We would have felt better about the whole thing if we could have checked in easily and gotten in there. Waiting at the desk for an hour with the possibility of waiting until the next day to check in was really stressful.
The hotel is just steps form the boardwalk and beach. Kristina was very hospitable and friendly, and it's reflected in this cozy one bed room apartment. The layout is amazing! It utilizes it's space very efficiently. Everything you need is provided, include beach chairs and towels, umbrella and a cooler. There were 3 of us in this apartment and it never felt crowded. The pull out couch was just as comfortable as the king size bed. Everything in the apartment works perfectly. The apatment has a full stocked kitchen, own and even 2 refrigerators. And we enjoyed being steps away from the beach. The owner has its own portable a/c unit in case there is not cold enough. However even without that unit the temperature reminded around 73F. We spend most of out day time on the beach or pool, and nights we spent eating out and walking along boardwalk. You can also visit new Margaritaville with bars and restaurants which is in 10 min walk along the boardwalk to the north.
Parking was near by and it was only $18 a day. We stayed on other hotels in the same area before where parking was $10 per hour or $50 a day. So we were very happy. Just want to point out that it is a condo hotel with people coming there for year and staying for a long term especially during winter months, therefore the place looks more like a community then a regular "in and out" hotel.
I highly recommend this place and would love to visit again!
Just like advertized. This rental is perfect place to stay for any length of time. My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights and were very comfortable the entire time. Upon arrival the rental was clean and ready for us. We were able to have meals right in the room as there is everything you need to cook with. It was easy to get groceries as there is a Publix and Walmart close by. On nights when we did not want to eat in, we were steps away from the boardwalk and many restaurants. The area is safe and the neighbors are friendly. The trip into Ft Lauderdale in less than 15 minutes for even more shops and restaurants or you can visit Aventura (mall) and Sunny Islands. You can visit the famous Ft Lauderdale beach or enjoy the beautiful Hollywood beach right outside your door. The pool at the hotel is also great and very clean. The owner Kristina was helpful and has a great place. I would recommend this rental to anyone and if we are in the area again would definitely stay here.
If I could give this property a negative rating, I would. Not only is this unit in a run down, disgusting hotel. The first thing you notice about the unit is the wretched smell, a combination of mold, mildew and cigarette smoke, even though there is a sign -100.00 fine for smoking. The bathroom was filthy and 2 plug-in's just sitting on the counter. If you plan to wash your hands after using the bathroom, you need to buy your own hand soap. 1 roll of toilet paper is provided for your entire length of your stay. The "toiletries" provided seem to be some leftover shampoo, and conditioner from the dollar store, however you are provided with a disposable shower cap. The shower drain must be clogged because after 2 minutes of the water running, you are standing in a pool of water. The beach towels, smelled like fish and had stains on them. The bedspread and pillow shams had some sort or orange/ red stain. There is mold at the bottom of the glasses and the plastic Wal-Mart glasses are cloudy and cracked. The ice trays have holes in it. You are provided with 5 forks and 1 is bent. The TV channels posted are all wrong and if you have electronics, be wary, we blew a fuse twice-you're unable to blow-dry your hair and have the ac on at the same time. We left a message for the owner about the blown fuse because after we snapped it back, it still didn't work, and we never got a call back. We got lucky after 20 minutes and re-set all the fuses, it worked. The unit has a portable AC in the bedroom and if not drained it will leak. If you have guests sleeping on the pull out couch, you have to leave the bedroom door open for it to be cool in the living area. There are power strips all around because the wall outlets are very old (painted over) also quite dusty. It seems like a fire hazard. This unit says it's for 4 people, but you have 3 beach towels and 2 beach chairs. The wifi is the hotel's wifi and slow. The futon (pull out couch was comfortable and there is a king size bed in the bedroom which was also comfortable. The hotel is literally falling apart. It seems like it has not been maintained since the 60's. The gym is so disgusting that as soon as you walk in, you have to turn around and walk out. Mostly all the shops are closed and the few shops open disgustingly filthy. This place is so disgusting, that we tried booking another place, but nothing was vacant. I couldn't wait to go home to shower and wash everything. Do yourself a favor and don't stayhere
The apartment is in a great location for access to the boardwalk, beach, ocean drive and even the highways. The apartment had everything we needed, is a good size for 2 and allowed us to make meals when we wanted. The owner was very responsive to our questions. We would stay here again.
