The Pine Street Cottage is located one hour north of San Francisco nestled on a 20 acre private ranch off of Scenic Hwy 12 in Kenwood, CA. Our late Aunt Sally Stanford purchased the ranch in 1961 as a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of San Francisco. She was San Francisco's most famous Madame and Sausalito's former Mayor. We named this rental 'Pine Street Cottage' as a tribute to her original bordello on 1144 Pine Street in San Francisco.
The cottage is located right in the heart of Sonoma County wine country in a area that is well known as the Valley of the Moon.
We are registered with the county and our Transient Occupany Tax Number is # 1096N.

Sally Stanford was my great aunt and she left the property to my family.

Stayed here with my family over the summer and had such a nice time. The 4 of us fit perfectly as the home isn't very large but has a beautiful back patio and open yard area. You are about 15 minutes from the Sonoma square and a little farther from Napa but many other Sonoma wineries are all very close. The house is in a small community but there's so much land that it feels very secluded. Judy and David stock the home very nicely with all the small amenities you need. They even provided a few kitchen items like wine, cheese, milk, butter which was so nice to include. We enjoyed having breakfast every morning on the patio and felt like we were out in the country! The area is nice and quiet and the home was clean and the beds were comfy so I'm sure my family and I will be back.
I'm a frequent user of VRBO and this is one of my top 3 stays of all time. Judy and David could not have been more accommodating! I'm a very clean person and this house was immaculate. The house and ranch have such a relaxing feel to it. The extras of complimentary wine, cheese, coffee, creamer, etc was above and beyond what I've had at other VRBO's. The book of local attractions was great too. This was a girls trip and my friend had never stayed in a VRBO before- now she's hooked! Judy and David you set the bar pretty high. I can't wait to return with my husband early next year. He's going to love the game room, I'll have to brush up on my ping pong. Thanks for making our girls weekend perfect!
I'll be back,
We love this property. Judy has thought of every possible need. Great kitchen, you could cook full meals.
Comfortable bed, lovely rain shower bathroom & some board games & videos. The outdoor seating is under the gorgeous oak trees and a seasonal creek meanders by. Relaxing at its finest!
The Pine Street Cottage was everything we expected and more. The place has been nicely updated. The attention to detail, and all the extras were appreciated. There was fresh flowers, a nice bottle of wine, and the fridge and cupboards were stocked with basic items and more than a guest would ever expect. There are several cottages to chose from, we highly recommend your next stay be at the Sally Stanford Ranch.
Our stay at the ranch exceeded our expectations. The cottage was immaculate, well furnished, and well stocked with everything you could think of. We arrived to find a bottle of wine, cheese, crackers and chocolates to snack on. There was also cereal, milk, coffee, cream, butter, and orange juice for breakfast. Who could ask for anything more. Using the rain shower was a delight and the towels were soft and fluffy. Judy provided an extensive line of personal items for use. The beds were very comfortable and the linens were top of the line. It was wonderful having a washer and dryer to use. The views and landscape of the property were breathtaking. It was easy to relax in such a peaceful atmosphere. We have stayed at numerous properties over the years and this one is # 1. We will be returning when we visit CA again. Needless to say we would highly recommend staying at this property. Thank you David and Judy for your gracious hospitality.

My family and I has such a wonderful stay at the ranch. David and Judy's cottage is very nice and they provided everything you need for a comfortable stay. Blankets, towel, bath supplies and all the kitchen supplies to allow you to make breakfast or cook a nice dinner. There were movies, games and information all about the area. They really added all the small touches to help you enjoy your stay. They have a lovely patio table in the back that we enjoyed breakfast at each morning. The peacefulness and beautiful scenery of the land really made this a great trip for the family. Especially for the great price, I highly recommend their property and will be sure to stay again when heading back to Sonoma and need a rental home.
