About Steve & Terry Cacciatore
Steve and I grew up in St Louis and love our city. We have a carpentry business and have gutted and rehabbed this apartment, which is attached to our home that we converted from a duplex to a single family. My husband Steve grew up on 'The HIll' our cities historic Italian neighborhood and attended St Louis U High, and SIUE where he went to college on a full soccer scholarship, and at 63 still plays the game! I have a yoga teaching certification and help in the carpentry business as well as run the vacation rentals. We have 6 grown children between us and a total of 6 grandchildren! We love to spend our Friday nights cooking and sharing wine with friends and family. My husband is an amazing cook and an avid fisherman. We love to play Pickle ball, ride our bikes around the city, and play in a bocce league 8 months of the year, at our favorite neighborhood pub. When we retire we plan to travel the US!
Why Steve & Terry Cacciatore chose Southwest Garden
Our carpentry company bought this property in 2008 to tear down and build new town homes overlooking Sublette park, but the economy had other ideas. In 2010 we adjusted our vision and began a long, (still in progress) rehabilitation of the buildings, which at the time were 2 sets of attached duplexes. We gutted both buildings and spent weekends rebuilding the interiors, converting the large units into our single family home. Buy 2012 we were moved in and then started the same process on the 2 smaller apartment units. The transformation has been an amazing process and we wouldn't live anywhere else!
What makes this Apartment unique
St Louis was settled by the French, and Missouri had an amazingly prolific clay mines. As a result the city is littered with gorgeous, rich red/brown brick architecture. I loved that our buildings had the original city style architecture with flat roofs and tall ceilings. Our home has 8' pocket doors, a parlor and 2 staircases. Originally they had fireplaces in every room and gas lighting. This house had many of those features so I feel very fortunate to have one of these historic looking buildings. The apartments we now rent on VRBO were smaller and perfect for rental property, so we updated them as well with all new HVAC, electric and plumbing. We live across from a lovely city park and can walk to our favorite restaurants and to play bocce in our bocce league, spring, summer and fall at our favorite Bar, Milo's Bocce Garden. I love the people in this neighborhood, many are people we grew up with. We are close to Forest Park, downtown, the Central West End, Soulard and Busch Stadiu,m where we love to watch our famous Cardinals play baseball. I wouldn't trade my neighborhood for any other in the city. We feel very fortunate to be here. Now, if only I can convince my husband to get a golf cart for getting around our neighborhood and style!!

Always a pleasant stay
This was not our first time staying here and I know it won't be our last. Apartment is perfect for our stay, always clean and owners are available if needed. Our go to place when in St Louis.
This was the perfect location to St. Louis and all it has to offer. We really liked our home away from home and would definitely recommend it. Cutely decorated and in a nice neighborhood....The Hill. Also, had the pleasure of meeting the owners, Steve and Terry. If you run into the mailman, Kenny, he'll give you the scoop on all the restaurants. Recommend checking out the Missouri Bakery if you have a sweet tooth.
Great Open Floorplan
Me and my three girlfriends enjoyed this space a lot! Loved cooking in the open kitchen. Double bed in bedroom was comfortable. Loved the balcony!
Perfect place in great location
First of all, communication with the owners was quick and easy, so that makes everything go smoothly. Next, this place is clean and provided everything needed for our stay. The bed is comfy and there's plenty of space for hanging out and watching TV or cooking. We didn't really stay in much, but the kitchen has everything you'd need.
In the neighborhood, we went to Favazza's for Italian food one night. It was great, and I'm sure there are quite a few others too. We also went over to Urban Chestnut for beers and food one night. It was crowded, but it's a great beirgarten with long tables where folks hang out and play games, drink beer and enjoy good company.
We really enjoyed the apartment and the area. 😊
The apartment was very nice and very clean. We were only here overnight but would definitely use it for a longer stay.
At home on The Hill.
The apartment was the perfect spot for us to rest after a day of visiting with family. Comfortable, charming decor and clean. Terry and Steve are great hosts. The location is perfect to meet friends/family for dinner at nearby restaurants or to visit nearby Forest Park. We are looking forward to our next trip!
There are several breweries in the city. Guests and schedule a tour of Anheuser-Busch Brewery, or visit one of the smaller breweries in the area.
If you like bocce, we have a favorite local pub that has a few outdoor courts. Milo's is a favorite of ours.
Some of the best Italian restaurants in the city are located on 'the Hill', the Italian neighborhood we are boarded on, and spend much of our time.
There are some very nice yoga studios nearby, and a YMCA if you have a membership, they have a pool, a basketball court, etc.
My favoite movie theatre is locate in the famous, Chase Park Plaza Hotel, located 10 minuts from our front door.
