I'm a retired engineer who visits Turkey 2-3 times a year.
Mike Burden purchased this villa in 2005
I loved the location which is at the foothills of the mountains with fabulous views. As the villa is 500m above sea level the temperature is 4-5 degrees below the resorts and there is always a light breeze which makes for an ideal summer climate.
The local traditional village of Uzumlu is a most peaceful place with very friendly and helpful residents. There are many and varied eating places and prices are really cheap.
Well we are back here in the sunny UK. We very much enjoyed our stay in Turkey and your villa was a delight to stay in. We had a problem with the AC unit in the double room on the first floor, and Paul organised an engineer to sort it out after the Eid break. He was very helpful with suggestions of places to go and places to eat. The villa and furnishings were of a high standard and we had enough kitchen utensils to service our stay as well as adequate entertainment with music and DVDs. The location was a little off the beaten track which added some concern for the hire vehicle, but we soon got used to it. If people do not mind travelling into the village, or down to the beach, Villa Kadyanda offers a cooler and fresher climate perfect for relaxing for dinner in the evening, and playing in the pool.
All in all our stay was very enjoyable, and the Villa accommodated 8 of us very comfortably. We also befriended your resident Tortoise who we named 'Bruno'. The locals in Uzumlu were delightful and went out of their way to help us.
We would recommend your Villa, as long as visitors have transport, as a great place to stay and definitely thought it was excellent value for money.
Michael your communication and support has been invaluable in terms of hire vehicle and directions to the Villa, communication through Paul, and general advice about where and what to do. Many, many thanks for all your help.
The bustling port of Fethiye is only 17km away and can be reached by the regular Dolmus minibuses or by car, the roads are excellent and driving is easy. The famous resort of Olu Deniz is the centre for paragliding and has sandy beaches and a sheltered lagoon and is a short distance from Fethiye as is Hisaronu with a lively night-life, clubs, restaurants and bars. The 'ghost town' of Kaya Koy is also close by while down the road to Kalkan is Patara Beach with Lycian/Roman ruins and a 20km unspoilt sandy beach. Closer to the villa is Calis Beach which is a 20 minute drive and has a 6km beach with many restaurants, bars and a lively night-life, while the Roman/ Lycian ruins of Cadianda are a 15 minute drive into the hills.
Locally the attractions are endless. By the sea is paragliding, microlights, wind-surfing, sailing, swimming, scuba diving, water-skiing and kite-surfing. While inland there is walking, mountain biking, quad biking, horse riding and many archaeological sites.
