Our home is in Truckee, Ca. in the Tahoe Donner resort community. There is one queen bed in the master, two queen beds in the second, queen sofa in the living room, BBQ on deck. There are numerous activities ranging from golf to skiing, horseback riding to swimming. Donner lake 10 min. Lake Tahoe is 20 min. Reno is 40 min. Alpine, Sugar Bowl,Northstar,Squaw Vally Ski resorts are all within 20 min.
Stayed here for Christmas. Photos do not do justice to the apartment. Spotlessly clean, new incredibly well equipped kitchen which had everything needed to make christmas dinner. Much bigger than the photos indicate, lounge area is very spacious. Great views of snowy pine trees. Nice deck area which has a grill on it. Didn't use it as too cold and snowy. Arrived during a massive snow storm. Will require 4x4 or chains to safely negotiate the road and driveway in snowy weather. Northstar, Sugarbowl & Alpine/Squaw all 20-25 minute drive, so if skiing/boarding ideally placed. If staying in summer apartment is 10 minutes to Donner Lake and all that has to offer. Has a great drying room for all skis, boards, wet gloves etc. Mike was very helpful before our arrival especially when we wanted to extend our stay. Had a thoroughly enjoyable time.
We had a wonderful stay at Mike's place. It's a spacious 2 bedroom apartment with plenty of windows overlooking beautiful pine trees. It is a very quite place and extremely clean with updated bathrooms and kitchen. The landlord is not fussy about check-in and check-out procedures which is a real plus. We will definitely go back again.
Our family of 4 stayed for a week. Plenty of space for all of us to spread out and relax. We love the back deck, kids loved the Wii, Mike and Karen we're wonderful hosts!
My husband and I stayed at "Karen's Cabin" for a month in the summer. "Cabin" is a misnomer. It's actually a very comfortable home away from home. It's spacious, very clean and well appointed. Anything it didn't have, all you had to do was ask Mike or Karen and they got it for you. Even things you didn't ask for. We have rented many vacation rentals in different parts of the country and this, by far, was the nicest, as were the owners. The only thing we were initially concerned about were the lack of window coverings in the main living area (bedrooms had window covers) particularly at night with the lights on. However, we did not mention this to Mike or Karen as we soon realized that the interior of the main living area of the home, being on the second floor and facing the forest, was not able to be viewed by anyone on the outside. We eventually felt that this added to the feeling of spaciousness inside and was not bothered by it. However, this could be of concern to those not used to the "openness" of no window coverings. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, would go back again and highly recommend both the home and the hospitality of Mike and Karen.
We really enjoyed our stay at "Karen's Cabin." The property was very clean and well-maintained (very new!) The beds were very comfortable, and the property had everything we needed. Karen and Mike are super friendly and helpful. We went to Sugar Bowl to ski both days, and it took us about 15 minutes to drive to the resort. I would highly recommend this property and look forward to going back again! Thank you Karen and Mike!
Our family of six just stayed at Karen and Mike's place for six nights. This was the best and cleanest vacation rental we have ever stayed at! Like a 5 star hotel. Everything you need is provided. Kitchen was fully stocked, fun wii system, comfy beds, plenty of hot water for showers, easy to use, warm fireplace.
The large front loader washer/dryer was so nice to get our ski clothes ready for the next morning. The location and comfortable furnishings are only surpassed by the gracious, friendly hosts! Mike was so friendly and helpful....always available. He even went beyond the call of duty and helped us with the car chains. Many thanks, again! Our kids loved playing and sledding in the fresh snowy back yard. Plenty of room to roam. We skied three different mountains, all in close proximity. This place is the ideal home away from home. We would highly recommend Karen and Mike's Tahoe Donner apartment, if you want a carefree vacation!

Part of the rental package includes: two guest passes to all Tahoe Donner recreational amenities which include a private Tahoe Donner Lake beach, golf courses, equestrian center, downhill and cross-country ski areas, numerous hiking and biking trails, world class tennis, 3 pools, a spa and fitness center with fun classes like zumba, yoga, and chi quong. The owners have 3 kayaks, a raft, sleds and an 18ft. Lake Tahoe boat, as well as other recreational toys and games. (Some of these can be rented at great prices.)
The apartment is located on the first floor of the four story home. The owners live upstairs, however the apartment is completely private, self-contained with its own entrance, full kitchen and is fully furnished.
The master bedroom has a queen bed, huge walk in closet, half bath, chest of drawers, and spectacular views of the private forest.
The second bedroom has two queen beds, a walk in closet with chest of drawers, half bath, and lots of sun.
The living room has a 55 in. flat screen TV with Direct TV, wireless internet access, and a Wii is available if requested.There is a queen sofa bed with ample living room lounging space.
The full bath is completely custom, with a blend of rock and granite throughout, and has plenty of cabinet space for all your storage needs. Linens and towels are provided. There is a tankless water heater so you don't have to worry about hot water running out.
The apartment’s modern kitchen comes fully stocked, has gorgeous granite counter tops and custom cabinets, making meal times special. The dining room sits in front of a gas fireplace with access to a huge covered deck, which includes a new grill and patio furniture.
The apartment has a laundry room with a washer dryer and lots of space for all your outdoor equipment.
The owners are available to assist with all your needs and plans, as they are 28 year resident experts in the area.

Directions to KAREN and MIKE’S Home when it’s not snowing:

Take Donner Pass Rd. Exit off Interstate 80
Turn left and over overpass.
Turn right and pass Shell Station on Donner Pass Rd.
At first stop light, take left on to Northwoods Blvd.
Proceed 1.4 miles to 3 way stop and turn left.
Continue .5 miles to Skislope Way and turn left.
Go 1.4 miles. At first you will be going up, up, up and then the road will level out. When it starts to go down, past the house on the right with the blue roof, you will see our house on the right down below the road. Take the first driveway to the right and we are the first house. (There is a Coldwell Banker for sale sign advertising the lot for sale at the beginning of the driveway/access road.)
If it is snowing this is the way that is better plowed. At the Northwoods 3-way stop, you will still turn left, but you will continue on Northwoods 2.5 miles until you get to the 3rd Davos St. on the left. It is right past Christie which is also on the left. Go 0.2 miles to Skislope and turn left. Continue 0.5 miles and take the driveway on left right past house number 12395 with the aspen trees on both sides of the driveway. It is 0.2 miles past Teton Way. If you make it up the hill to the house with the blue roof, you have gone too far.
