About Clif Ridenhour

My wife and I are Realtors in the Charlotte area. We love the mountains and getting away. Often we leave Charlotte and head to the mountains. We are always amazed at the sights and drop of temperature in a two and a half hour drive.

Clif Ridenhour purchased this chalet in 2004

Why Clif Ridenhour chose High Country & Blue Ridge Mountains

We chose this area for snow skiing and the beautiful sites that the High Country offers. There are several ski resorts close by and the largest one in NC is across the street 'Sugar Mountain'. Grand Father Mountain is less than a 10 minute drive and it has unbelievable views. Grand Father Mountain also has a mile high swinging bridge and wildlife habitats to include bears, deer, and all kinds of other animals.

What makes this chalet unique

Location, Location, Location it is here. Across the street from Sugar Mountain. 5 Minute drive to downtown Banner Elk. 10 Minute drive to Grand Father Mountain and several other hiking trails and water falls in the nearby area.

My favorite restaurant in Banner Elk is Sorrento's which is downtown. After a wonderful meal, I love the hot tub on a cold night. Listening to the sound of the blowing of snow on Sugar Mountain and soaking in the hot tub is very relaxing.

Quiet, Cozy, Perfect Romantic Couple Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I rented this property to celebrate our anniversary, and we could not have been happier with the choice. The location is right at Sugar Mountain, so we know we will be back during skiing season. Plenty of local cuisine and attractions are close by as well, so the weekend had plenty to do. The chalet itself was very inviting and stocked well with everything we needed. I have nothing but positive things to say about the unit and we will rent from them again in the future.

Convenient location,tiny space

  • 4 of 5

Very convenient location. This place has everything you need-but no a/c and the bedroom is upstairs. There are fans. The space is tiny, the parking is tight and there is no view. There are 2 nice tvs. The only bathroom is upstairs. This is a great place to sleep and keep your stuff. This is not a place to hang out and enjoy the view but everything is up to date ,great condition, beautiful sink/vanity in the bathroom. This is what it says it is-a ski chalet. Also has internet. The owner is very helpful.

Perfect get away

  • 5 of 5

Was really impressed with this home, it's the perfect little get away for a couple and near by a lot of the outdoor activities. The home had every amenitie you would need. The hot tub was perfect for relaxing at night in the cool mountain breeze. The owner was very friendly and would work with you on your stay there and would answer every question you have. I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to take a small vacation. I will be returning to this location again in the future.

AWESOME!

  • 5 of 5

Location, location, location. This place had everything you could ask for! We arrived to a clean and cozy chalet after a long day of travel. Convenience is everything when you are in the mountains because things can sometimes be a bit of a drive. But this place was near EVERYTHING. Gas stations nearby, food lion 2 min down the road, local bars and restaurants within 5min, and you can literally see the slopes from the entrance to the community. Sugar mountain was 5 min up the road with skiing/snowboarding and tubing. The people in town couldn't be any nicer. Really awesome local bar open late that has pool tables and corn hole called bayou smokehouse and grille. The bars in the area are all pet friendly if your sitting outside. The hot tub on the property was so awesome after a long day of skiing. Only advice is if you are staying when it's warmer than 40 out id turn on the fans and crack the windows at night for some fresh cool air! No AC in the house which is fine if it's cool out, but when there's a heat wave it can get toasty. We had everything we needed never had to travel more than 5 min for anything. Also just to switch up the scenery we took a drive to Boone, which was only 25 min away and they had bowling and and nice brewery we visited called Appalachian mountain brewery. Super awesome vibes. To top it all off, Clif the owner was really helpful and accommodating. GO STAY HERE!
