We have been living in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1986 when we relocated from New York for Alan's job. He is the general manager of a lighting wholesale company.
I am a 'stay-at-home daughter,' and have been my mother's caregiver since 2008.
We have two beautiful adult daughters, Melissa & Jennifer, who often travel with us. The youngest still lives at home and will be applying to grad schools. Alan and I will be married 34 years in August!
UPDATE: APRIL 2015
It has been 3 years since we bought the house. Our guests have been wonderful. They have enjoyed their stay in our home and taken very good care of it. The experience has been very rewarding. We continue to add items, some folks have done so too and we appreciate it. We have also made some improvements such as painting, refinishing the patio floor and the upstairs balcony.
On a more personal note, Alan and I will be married 37 years in August! Our oldest daughter, Melissa, got married July 2013. The youngest, Jennifer, is now in DPT school. She is on her first internship at a hospital in Las Vegas. We just visited her last weekend.
Stella & Alan Ginsberg purchased this house in 2012
We have friends in the area (Chandler, Gilbert, Peoria), and have been visiting frequently. It's both a short plane ride, and a driveable distance from our home in California.
We just purchased this home in March 2012, and went back to get it ready. We were surrounded by handymen, installers and painters for a week, and had to do a lot of shopping. It was tiring but also lots of fun.
We are thinking of eventually retiring here. In the meantime, we will use the home as a vacation home. When we're not enjoying it, we would like to make it available for others to enjoy as if they were at home.
We love the desert landscape, the beautiful weather, the views of Superstition Mountains and the fact that spring training is nearby. There are also lots of golf courses, shopping and nature. The neighborhood has a children's (tot) playground, walking trails, and a park with picnic area, basketball courts, and large playground. It is close to the 202 and 60 freeways.
On a recent visit to check things out at the house, I found a sweet little note written by a child. It was in the nightstand of the twin room. There were young children staying in April and in May, so I am not sure who left it, but I wanted to share it. It says:
Have fun here.
It is awesome.
Thank you, whoever wrote the note. We are glad you thought our home was awesome. Hope you had a lot of fun!
Please come back again! Stella & Alan
We had plans to attend the Fiesta Bowl and had reservations for a house via AirBNB. Well, that didn't work out so well as the owner cancelled our reservation 32 hours before our flights to Phoenix. We were very upset! I ditched AirBNB and found this house on VRBO. We were able to quickly secure this house in East Mesa thanks to the Ginsberg's quick communications. The Ginsbergs were extremely easy to deal with and very professional. If we had any questions they quickly replied. A few examples: 1. Wifi wasn't allowing us to access the internet. After a few texts and emails my son had it up and running. 2. When I was out grocery shopping the day before the bowl game, I had forgotten to check to see if there was a cooler in the house for tailgating. I texted the owners and they replied while I was still in the store. Cooler in the garage, so there was no need for me to buy one.
About the house: The house is great and is in a decent location. We had quick access to the freeway. We were about a mile or so to the nearest grocery store, Frys, which is affiliated with Kroger. I hadn't heard of Frys before. Get their grocery card or use one that is available in the kitchen drawer to save about 20 to 30% on your groceries and to get a gas discount from their pumps. The weather was too cool at end of December/beginning of January to even try the pool, but it looked like a lot of fun for warmer seasons. They have plenty of pool towels. As a matter of fact, they have lots of regular towels and linens too. Well stocked on linens! I grilled once and the gas grill fired right up. There are lots of grilling utensils in the kitchen under the island.
Kitchen has all the appliances, dishes, utensils, pots, pans, small appliances, and stuff we needed. They even had filters for the coffee machine. Everything worked too. No ice maker in the freezer, but that was not a problem. Suggest only using the dishwasher when out and about. It is really pretty loud, but it cleaned well. They had plenty of soap, shampoo, and paper products to carry us through our 5 day stay. Washer /dryer worked fine.
I was able to add a temp. access code to the front door that made it easy to remember.
One drawback was the neighbors really liked celebrating New Year's with fireworks, but that only is once a year.
The house was clean, the beds comfortable, the garage held our rented minivan and had a garage door opener.
Full deposit returned.
We had a family wedding in the Phoenix area and stayed at this great vrbo. We had five adults stay at the house and it was the perfect amount of space.
This home was just right for our family of 5 (and 14 more when we hosted Christmas lunch!). It had everything we needed and nothing we didn't, as too much can often just get in the way. Stella was an absolute pleasure to work with before and after our stay! We will definitely stay here again should we find ourselves in the area and I will be actively recommending the home to others.
We arrived with our family of 3 kids and added grandma and grandpa on a trip to visit other family who lived in Mesa. The house was big enough for us all to spread out and be comfortable while being together. Kids had fun playing around but not necessarily in the pool (it was late November after all). Dinner on the patio in the evenings was great.
We loved the home. It had all the amenities that were listed. We would definitely stay there again.
The house is in terrific condition. The layout allows for entertaining and plenty of room for everyone. The pool is very clean and the backyard is fenced so we had plenty of privacy and safety for the little ones. The grill was ready to go with a full tank of propane and another to spare. The kitchen is well stocked and the bedrooms all well appointed. The location is great and very close access to major roads, shopping and grocery stores.
Cant say enough good things about the owners. They are prompt with responses and more than accommodating. Our flight was cancelled and they made it very easy for us to stay the additional day to make our extended stay stress free. Thank you!
We consider this our new home away from home whenever we visit the area!
