About the property

2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 4 comfortably

The Periwinkle Cottage is a traditional cottage with a warm, inviting charm throughout. From the moment you step inside, you'll be reminded of a getaway cottage you visited during a childhood vacation. The living room has cozy knotty-pine walls and there are wood floors in all rooms except the bathroom. It's like a step back in time, but equipped with today’s modern conveniences. The home was completely renovated with a new metal roof, electrical, plumbing, bathroom and kitchen appliances.

Inside, furnishings include newer items mixed with antiques and some collectibles, new beds and linens, a fully stocked kitchen and a full collection of books on a variety of subjects for both adults and children. We’ve even added a large deck for relaxing outside, a BBQ pit for grilling! The landscaped yard is fenced and a great area for kids to play outside. We’ve tried to think of everything to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

And so far, the feedback from our guests is unanimous: Periwinkle Cottage is a fun place to stay! Many of our returning guests have come to regard the comfortable cottage as their “home” away from home. Kids especially love the built-in alcove bunk beds in the second bedroom. Each bed has a built-in night stand with individually controlled lights so you can read a book or play a game without disturbing your bunk-mate. The bunks were designed with grown-ups in mind too; with 36' of head-room they’re roomy enough to not bump your head. And the kitchen is just as cheerful as it could possibly be; with bright and fun retro colors and with coordinated linens, the space reminds you that you're on vacation and supposed to be having fun!

We take pride in keeping the Periwinkle Cottage in tip-top shape and ready for guests on a moment’s notice. We personally check-in our guests, so that we can give you a tour and explain where everything is located. We often provide guidance for locating the favorite places to eat, as well as information about local family attractions. And we’re always available if there are any questions or concerns that arise during your stay, because we live in the neighborhood (just a few blocks away).

Fabulous Family Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Our family loved the Periwinkle Cottage, the pictures of the house are very good but it is much better in person. Our girls (2 and 6) really enjoyed the bunk beds and the backyard. Our oldest has now claimed this as "our" vacation home. Everything is provided for your stay, the house was very clean and comfortable (beds are fabulous). We were minutes away from all of the major attractions and we actually walked to the beach too. The kitchen is gorgeous with lots of natural light and my husband loved using their new grill. We are already planning our return trip. Thank you Clint for making our stay so enjoyable.

Periwinkle Paradise

Periwinkle cottage was the perfect Labor Day Getaway... It's very clean, well maintained and on a quiet street. The owner was a great host and provided us with a list local restaurants and activities that really helped us enhance our stay.

A Comfortable, Cozy and Classy Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the cottage. It has a classic American decor and all the comforts of a home. This along with modern features like WiFi and streaming TV service were really appreciated because it rained about half the time we were in Galveston. Our kids loved the built in bunk beds (each one has a book nook and a light for reading) and desk in the second bedroom. We would definitely come back again.

Great place to stay in Galveston

  • 5 of 5

Our family has stayed in Periwinkle Cottage three different times now. We have really enjoyed it every time. Our two kids love the built in bunk beds and start talking about them even before we get to the house. The house has always been very clean and neat when we arrive, and we have never had any problems with anything while we are there. The owner lives close, so if anything is needed, it usually does not take long at all to get a response to resolve the need.

This cottage was a much better choice than the many hotels in Galveston. It is private, you get the use of a clean bathroom, full kitchen with dining area, comfortable bedrooms, nice living room, multiple AC units and ceiling fans to keep you cool, separate storage building with washer/dryer, and grill. There is also a nice patio area to enjoy in the evenings.

I would recommend Periwinkle Cottage for your next trip to Galveston. It is not very far from the beach, it is comfortable, and it is reasonably priced. The owner is very nice and will do his best to take care of anything you need during your stay.

We are looking forward to staying at Periwinkle Cottage the next time we visit Galveston.

Wonderful vacation

  • 5 of 5

Periwinkle Cottage is a wonderful place to stay if you are a couple or a family with children. My daughter, Stella, loved the bunk beds and pretended she was in everything from a pirate ship, to a castle, to fort. The cottage is very clean. It had everything we needed. The yard was great for her to go outside and play or just sit on the deck and soak up the warm sun. The host was extremely knowledgable of the island and provided many recommendations to us. We appreciate everything, would love to come back & would absolutely recommend the Periwinkle Cottage to others!

Owner's Response: Dear Amanda, We are so glad to know you enjoyed your stay at the Periwinkle Cottage ! One of the most favorable compliments we could’ve received is the fact that you said “the cottage is very clean”. It is understandable that is important to you, and we expect cleanliness is important to a majority of guests. We strive to make sure the home is spic-and-span clean each time a new guest checks in. We achieve this level of consistency because we oversee the operations, cleaning and maintenance ourselves. We know the cottage is popular with families like yours (with children). The fenced yard is an ideal place for kids to play and the deck is a great place for adults to relax. We look forward to having you back again soon!

Best Galveston vacation ever!

  • 5 of 5

On a whim we decided to plan a list minute trip for Memorial Day Weekend! For a family of 4 who travels a lot, the idea of staying in a hotel just didn't seem relaxing at all. I spent hours seaching through expensive, dated looking condos before I got lucky and and found the Periwinkle Cottage. The pictures of this place do not do it justice! From every single detail you could tell this place was a labour of love. It had a fully stocked country kitchen and I didnt need any of the kitchen stuff I brought. The living room was like a cozy rustic cabin and while the master bedroom was well-appointed and had a super comfy bed, the bunk room was truly the crown jewel. My kids had such a great time in there, the one day we were rained in, there were no complaints from my 9 or 2 1/2 year old! It even has a cozy little reading nook tucked inside. There is a full assortment of games, Netflix and a ton of other movie channels on the Roku, and really the place itself was so relaxing we just wanted to stay there and chill. It is on the side of Galveston that had great access to the fishing piers, which was perfect for us. but also a very short drive the busier Stewart Beach if that's your thing. The neighborhood was quiet and felt very safe. We sat in the courtyard and enjoyed dinner on the charming patio every night while the kids cartwheeled in the grass. As nice as the place was, I think the owners really made the experience what it was. Clint was super informative before the booking, throughout the process and after I arrived he walked us through the house and showed us all the features. He stayed in contact during the stay and it was like having a personal concierge. He endured my endless questioning about where to buy and recreate some of the special touches in the house that we enjoyed. His dining and shopping recommendations were just perfect, and even though I've been to Galveston many times in my life living in Dallas, I had never discovered many of those places on my own. As a side note- If you do go fishing and strike out like we did on the first day, you can go to Katie's on harbor and buy straight from the fisherman just like the restaurants do! I'm not sure if this site shows my user name, but if you cross reference my Yelp reviews you can see that while I try to be fair, I will always give my full experience and if it didnt meet my expecations, I don't give false praise. This place was so great, we cannot wait to go back!
