This ski-in/ski-out, three-unit home is located directly on the slopes of Winterplace Ski Resort in Flat Top, West Virginia, literally a stone's throw from Exit 28 on I-77.
Snowed Inn is a three-story house with three separate entrances so the IMPORTANT...INSTANT QUOTE does not work for this property so please email me with your dates and number of people in your party and I will get you an accurate quote based on the number of floors you will need.
The first and second floor each have three bedrooms (each with Sealy Posturepedic queen-sized beds), each with two full baths, fully-equipped kitchens, and family rooms with cable TVs.
The third floor has one large bedroom with two queen-sized Sealy Posturepedic beds and a living room with two pull-out couches (one single and one queen), one twin bed, cable TV, and a DVD player.
All floors feature pretty views of the slopes and easy ski-on access to Winterplace, ski lifts, the lodge, and restaurants. The best way to reach me is email, but please check the calendar before inquiring since many dates for the upcoming year are already booked. Thanks!
Winterplace provides all levels of skiing trails and includes a snow tube park and one of the best snowboard parks in the eastern United States. Winterplace is within a three-hour drive of Greensboro, Charlotte, and Raleigh, North Carolina, and Roanoke, Virginia, and two or less hours away from Huntington and Charleston, West Virginia. Less driving means more skiing. Winterplace provides the most hours of skiing per day with all trails lighted for skiing until 10:00 p.m.
Winterplace offers 27 trails, served by nine lifts, including two quads. Trails are lit for night skiing. Vertical drop is 603 feet, and the longest trail is one-and-one-quarter miles.
For the snowboarders, Winterplace has a Snowboard Park, with tabletops, rails, gaps, and more. A couple seasons ago, Winterplace added a halfpipe and has significant snowboard rental inventory.
Snow tubing was a popular addition to Winterplace a couple years ago. Ten lanes, served by three lifts, are offered. Separate tubing tickets are required for snow tubing.
Several restaurants at Winterplace offer aprés ski fun, including food and music.

Each of our three kids first learned to ski right here at Winterplace. They all loved the ski school and the ease of getting around the mountain. We have had so many fun memories here with family and friends. We live in Greensboro, NC so the drive to our cabin is pretty easy especially since it is right off the expressway. We hope you enjoy our home as much as we do!
The Owner purchased this chalet in 2005
We love being right on the slope and the house is big enough that we can all spread out or be together!
Now that our children are coming upon their teen years we really enjoy the separate floors. We usually stay on the second floor and after a long day of skiing let the kids watch movies, play video games on the third floor. When we stay in the whole house we love having the two kitchens especially at Thanksgiving. We also love that Winterplace has night skiing. That is one of our favorite times to ski. The tubing is also a lot of fun!
Our group rented out the whole house of Snowed Inn, and boy did we get "snow in" for sure! We went a perfect weekend for skiing weather, it snowed the whole time we were there and loved the location of the home. The snow was so thick that we were able to make a trail right to the second floor! The snow plow was very beneficial for us, they made a route every few hours to keep our road clear! The house slept perfect for the group we had and even had a bed or two left over for more people. The only problem that we came across was that on the second floor is where we decided to make all of own food at and the oven did not work well and only two stove tops worked. But overall our experience with Snowed Inn was great and Kathleen was very easy to contact, also very helpful with any questions that we may have had! We will be staying again!!
We rented the whole house and had a great stay. The Owner's were great to work with. The GROUP was well pleased with the location on the slope and the accommodations. Ski right in and out. Plenty of room for everybody. Once we got there we never left. The large parking area and easy access to the house was great. We look forward to renting again.
Our group of 20 adults rented all three floors of Snowed Inn. We were mostly couples and there were plenty of bedrooms, beds, and bathrooms for everyone. The location is ideal and once we parked the cars on Friday we didn't have to move them the rest of the weekend. Having two kitchens was beneficial since we cooked almost all of our meals and there was also plenty of refrigerator space. We had Domino's deliver on Friday night for dinner and we were able to get a discounted group rate for 10+ pizzas and I was able to call and order ahead of time. There were two crockpots to make soup for lunch on Saturday and plenty of other dishes and supplies for cooking breakfast and dinner.
We had a couple of first time/beginner skiers and they didn't have any problem with the slope in front of the house. Having a ski in/ski out at this location allowed us to maximize our skiing time. Everyone could come and go at their leisure and it was easy to pop in, grab some lunch, and get back out to the slopes in no time. It is an older home and could use a few updates, but the amount of bedrooms and bathrooms is great for a big group. It was also nice to have separate areas so people could have their own space. There was plenty of parking and we didn't have any troubles accessing the house. We did find that towels were not included. I'm not sure if that was an oversight on my part and I probably could have contacted the housekeeping service, but we just had some late arrivers bring extra towels.
This is our second year taking a big group ski trip to Winterplace and we have had wonderful experiences both times. The resort has a nice mix of easy and more challenging runs and the whole trip in general is very cost effective. The owner of Snowed Inn very helpful as are the housekeepers. We had an overall great experience!
The owner was very responsive and accomodating and allowed us to get into the house the morning of our arrival instead of regual check-in late afternoon. We rented all three floors to accomodate our large group of 22. The house was as described in the photos and cleaned upon arrival. I would have brought my own lines and not paid the linens fee if I knew we had to make our own beds, instead the linens were placed on the edge of each bed for us to make. The location is ideal, right off the mountain which made it very convenient to allow the kids to ski while the parents took a break and could still watch from the comfort of a warm house. The kitchen had everything we needed and the rooms were as described. I would say the couches were old and dated, I almost didn't want to sit down they were very old and worn. This is our second trip to Winterplace and it's a great location and the skiiing was awesome... I would recommend the rental, but would look at other houses before renting this particular house again. Great Week of Skiing!
Had a great time in January 2014. Stayed on bottom floor, easy ski in and out location. Those not skiing didn't have to go to the lodge to feed the troops! They just came right in from the slopes, ate (and napped) and hit the slopes again. Helps to make the most of the whole day ski experience!. No need for hauling lots of kitchen things - lots of good stuff there - coffee pot, crock pot, pots and pans! Brought our food and saved lots of $$ on eating cost.
We have 7 families staying snowed Inn all three floors, it fits all very well. Beds at third floor are comfortable, have enough bedding and kitchen stuff (no cooking though). We ate lunch & dinner with friends at first fl. somehow, first floor living seems smaller than second floor, 4 families with kids (6-9) had a very good time. We enjoyed very much ski-in & ski-out convenience. The owner is very nice to work with, respond quickly.
