Why visit Orosi? The Orosi Valley is a landscape of topical hues. The rainforest of Tapanti and the Alto Cedral Cloud Forest paint a background of various shades of green, teeming with wildlife. Every turn of the road provides a new diversity of colors and terrain. Located south of Cartago, the Orosi Valley is a true jewel. Famous for its beautiful views, colonial churches, coffee farms, white water rivers, hot springs and Lake Cachí, the Orosi Valley and surrounding towns are like a birthday present, waiting to be opened. The small quaint villages offer a unique location where you can relax and enjoy a real slice of Costa Rican life. During coffee picking season, September through January, the valley comes to life. The pickers can be heard singing and talking in the fields as they pick the worlds best coffee.
It is easy to book activities such as: guided local tours, mountain biking, horse back riding, hiking, water rafting, and other interesting activities to keep active during the day. For detailed information on local tours, visit our web site.
Orosi Valley Self Guided Tours
The Orosi Valley and surrounding areas have many different tours, which can take up to a week to see all of the local attractions. Of the top 20 things to do in Costa Rica, four are in or near the Orosi Valley, numbers six, seven, eight and nine.

We are Steve and Nancy Riley. We purchased this property in 1994 and built our first home in 2004. The villa was built in 2005.
Stephen and Nancy Riley purchased this villa in 1994
Nancy ripped out over 40,000 coffee trees to plant our gardens. The view, location, climate and Costa Rican people made this property our choice for our retirement home.
I brought my husband to the villa as a 40th birthday surprise. He had no idea where we were going and expected to be on a beach in Jamaica somewhere. He was more than thrilled to find out we were staying in a paradise valley in the rainforest. I based our entire trip around staying in Steve and Nancy's beautiful villa, and I would do the same again. We participated in a lot of adventure activities, but would have had as good a time just enjoying the property and spectacular views. Steve got us set up for ziplining and white water rafting on the Pacaure River which were both amazing day trips. I would recommend having a vehicle so you can explore the area surrounding the villa- we had a 4-wheel drive one that we felt comfortable driving down & up the mountain in. We do not speak Spanish, and occasionally that was hard when trying to ask for directions or when dining out. Staying in Cartago we felt immersed in the Costa Rican culture, and had many wonderful experiences. I plan to bring my mom and 9 year old daughter next time for a girls trip.
Steve & Nancy are wonderful hosts and Nancy's incredible gardens are a tribute to her passion for her flowers, plants, and life in Costa Rica. It took a lot to tear me away from the outstanding view from the villa's large comfortable patio and hottub! But when I finally went exploring, I couldn't get enough of that either! I took so many pictures of Nancy's gardens, often accompanied by their wonderfully-friendly rotweillers (they have 5 beautiful ones!). The villa is wonderfully appointed and so comfortable. It is away from all traffic and tourist stops, a great respite I looked forward to returning to after a long day of exploring and riding the countryside and ziplining! Steve and Nancy's advice on things to do were right-on!
I made this trip with my daughter, and we're very excited to plan another trip! I loved going while the U.S. had the dreary January weather. I'll look no further, and book this same villa again!
We were looking to start our stay in Costa Rica at a place that was out of the tourist center and this was perfect. The facilities were better then expected an the setting will bring anyone to a calm and wonderful state. We brought our 11 and 13 year old grandkids and they too loved the experience. Steve and Nancy are great hosts and although our activities did not allow us to spend the time with them we would have like the time spent was great.
Thank you Steve and Nancy for sharing your wonderful oasis!
My wife and I stayed in the villa for the first four days of our honeymoon, and we absolutely loved it! Steve and Nancy were such wonderful hosts. Steve allowed us to tag along for some of his errands, which allowed us to experience various aspects of the beautiful valley. The villa is fully equipped for anything one could need (meals, entertainment, etc) - including an outdoor grill! We enjoyed walking through Nancy's beautiful gardens many times, especially with the accompaniment of their wonderful dogs. We would highly recommend this to anyone looking to get away from the busyness of life; and hope to return someday ourselves.
Merci Steve et Nancy, you really made our first week in Costa Rica wonderful and unforgettable !!!
