About the property

Villa, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

Million dollar view, mountain, rain forest, garden villa! $65 per night or $400 per week or $1500 per month for the months of December through May.

Let Paradise Peak be your vacation within a vacation where everyday is 74º F and every night is 60º F (plus or minus 7º F). That’s everyday of the year, the most perfect temperature range on earth!

Our property caters to gardeners, nature lovers, birdwatchers, artists, writers and people who appreciate a stress free, tranquil setting. The rental Villa has the most comfortable king-size mattress in Costa Rica! The second bedroom loft has two twin beds and private upstairs patio.

The villa sits in a working citrus farm and is surrounded by a private eleven-acre botanical garden. This two-bedroom Balinese style Villa has a kitchenette and outdoor Jacuzzi. All artwork and decorative items were purchased during travels in Indonesia, Thailand, China, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, and Central America. The villa has a spectacular view of the Alto Cedral Cloud Forest, which begins on the mountain across from the Villa and continues into Panama. All you view is rainforest and it appears endless. The view to the left looks over the town of Orosi into Tapanti Rainforest. The view to the right looks over the Continental divide at the famed Mountain of Death.

Laundry services are available at reasonable rates. Please download the map to the Villa from our Web Site.

About the owners: We, Steve and Nancy Riley, recently built the rental Villa, which rests 25 yards from our home. We also provide real estate services for those wishing to retire in a living Eden, home construction services and landscaping services. Visit our web site for more details.

Why visit Orosi? The Orosi Valley is a landscape of topical hues. The rainforest of Tapanti and the Alto Cedral Cloud Forest paint a background of various shades of green, teeming with wildlife. Every turn of the road provides a new diversity of colors and terrain. Located south of Cartago, the Orosi Valley is a true jewel. Famous for its beautiful views, colonial churches, coffee farms, white water rivers, hot springs and Lake Cachí, the Orosi Valley and surrounding towns are like a birthday present, waiting to be opened. The small quaint villages offer a unique location where you can relax and enjoy a real slice of Costa Rican life. During coffee picking season, September through January, the valley comes to life. The pickers can be heard singing and talking in the fields as they pick the worlds best coffee.

It is easy to book activities such as: guided local tours, mountain biking, horse back riding, hiking, water rafting, and other interesting activities to keep active during the day. For detailed information on local tours, visit our web site.

Orosi Valley Self Guided Tours

The Orosi Valley and surrounding areas have many different tours, which can take up to a week to see all of the local attractions. Of the top 20 things to do in Costa Rica, four are in or near the Orosi Valley, numbers six, seven, eight and nine.

About Stephen and Nancy Riley

We are Steve and Nancy Riley. We purchased this property in 1994 and built our first home in 2004. The villa was built in 2005.

Stephen and Nancy Riley purchased this villa in 1994

Why Stephen and Nancy Riley chose Cartago

Nancy ripped out over 40,000 coffee trees to plant our gardens. The view, location, climate and Costa Rican people made this property our choice for our retirement home.

Truly unique experience - Deserves 10 stars!

There are few times in life when you come upon something you can say is truly unique and priceless. Paradise Peak is one of those places for our family. If you are looking for a run of the mill condo with people at your beck and call in a tourist town, this rental is not for you. If, however, you are hoping to introduce your family to Costa Rica and its beautiful people, landscape, and culture stop looking. You have found the perfect spot to immerse yourself in the heart of Costa Rica. Steve and Nancy appear to have studied the art of hosting travelers and are as close to perfecting it as anyone I've ever seen. As an example, our flight was severely delayed causing us to miss the local farmers market I had been so excited to see. Knowing this, the Riley's picked up various fruits and vegetables from the market for us and they were waiting for us on the counter when we arrived. They will give you privacy if that is your preference but are only steps away if you want to learn about Costa Rica from a local, get advice on activities, or just would like to sit and chat. The kitchen is well stocked with spices and very pleasant to work in, despite the lack of a range. The induction cooktops work amazingly well. Nancy's gardens are a sight to behold. I've paid money to enter botanical gardens not as impressive as hers. There were ripe bananas to be found on the trails while we were there and we collected several that were delicious! The dogs are truly sweet, polite pups. They enjoyed roaming the trails with my kids and we enjoyed their company. As for the area and excursions we took, we spent one day trout fishing at Finca Montańa Truchas, at Steve and Nancy's suggestion, which was wonderful. We caught enough fish to fix for a couple of dinners during our stay! We made the trip to the Irazú volcano one day which was fun. We also ventured to Turrialba where we went white water rafting in the morning down the Pejibaye river and that afternoon went canyoning (rappelling down waterfalls and zip lining). Links to the outfitters we used as well as a drone video my husband took of the property are below. Costa Rica is a marvelous country. Steve and Nancy are amazing hosts. The villa has unforgettable views. What more could you want???

It really is Paradise.

  • 5 of 5

As good as the pictures look and the description of the property sounds, it is even better in person. I would best describe our stay with Steve and Nancy as an experience. It would be hard to find a better way to experience top shelf accommodations and settings blended with an authentic cultural experience. The views and gardens are splendid. The chance to immerse yourself in local culture is priceless. Steve and Nancy are wonderful people who are gracious and more than willing to share their ample knowledge of Costa Rica and help you to maximize your stay. Steve is treasure trove of information, and as bright and entertaining as he is, one is pleasantly surprised to find out that Nancy is the brains of the outfit. Her gardens are a labor of love and the result of years of arduous, dedicated effort. You meet them as strangers and leave as friends. There is a reason that they are booked well in advance and get many repeat visitors. Carefully read the description of the property and take note of the unanimous 5 star rating. If a have a criticism, it would be that I honestly don't believe I'll be able to find a better place than Paradise Peak in the entire country. I am already making plans to return.

What a lovely property. The incredible gardens , walking trails and wonderful hospitality. Steve and Nancy went out of their way . Even baking fresh bread for us. The villa is wonderfully appointed with beautiful mountain view . Including an outdoor grill , fresh linens, hot water, towels, and an outdoor hot tub. You will never find a more scenic view property or more friendly and accommodating hosts. Thank you for having us . We will most certainly return .

We had the best time!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second trip to stay at Steve and Nancy's villa - this time we brought our 5 and 9 year old children along. They had the time of their lives. They were able to roam the property with their faithful companions. Usually all of the dogs would follow the kids on their adventures. We took family walks several times a day, and spent a lot of our time just hanging around enjoying the view. We will be back again soon I'm sure. We love it here!
