We want to sincerely thank you for making this rental available to us. There were so many to choose from, but we certainly believe we made the best choice. The home is spacious, has what we need, and is warm and inviting. We had a great time spending our days hiking and sight-seeing. Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are awesome places, and Bass Harbor is very quaint. The area is very quiet, which is so very different from Orlando, FL. Thanks for everything, and when we come back we will be calling to see if this place is available. Good luck this winter.
The house is well-maintained and beautiful. We loved staying there, and the owners were amazingly kind to us. They did everything they could to make our visit the best ever.
We visited from the 25th of June to the 2nd of July. We were a family of four visiting from Denmark (Europe) and our kids was 3 years and 11 months, respectively. The owners provided outstanding service - they quickly replied to all our questions, and even helped to locate a good nearby pediatrician for our youngest when he got otitis. We quickly made the 1st floor baby safe and that really made the stay a lot more relaxing for us.
Most evenings we BBQ'ed on the patio. There is a supermarket 5 minutes away, and there is a Hannaford about 20 minutes away in Bar Harbour.
We enjoyed the setting in the woods, and the house were kept cool in the shadow of the trees. The house and decor is so nice - it felt like we were staying in a presidential suite - just with more room. The bathrooms are really nice and everything is shiny, modern and new.
We would like to come back to this house some day. We have no problem recommending this place to friends and relatives - in fact we already did :)
We don't know much about the restaurants, as we had dinner at home every night. However, while taking my weekly 8 miles run - I found that if you go on the other side of the cove, then there is a nicely located lobster pond, a museum formed as a light house, and a beautiful view of the lobster boats. Go there in the late afternoon - it's so beautiful!
Recommended trips: Drive up the mountain, go on the park route and see the thunder hole, go visit the wonderland trail (nearby), go on a lobster or tour boat and see how lobsters are caught, visit the small islands, see the seals. There is lots to do in Acadia - we didn't do that much because we traveled with small children. We want to come back at some point - and we would like to stay in the same house :)
We had a wonderful time at this rental on the "quiet side" of Mount Desert Island! At first we were worried about being so far from Bar Harbor, but it ended up being a great location, just minutes from Southwest Harbor and great hikes in Acadia. We ended up spending almost all our time in Southwest Harbor which has beautiful scenery, great restaurants and shopping. (A piece of advice: some of the small restaurants require reservations on busy nights.) The house had everything we needed - we especially appreciated having linens and towels provided. This home is clean and nicely decorated - we highly recommend it!
We were in awe when we arrived at this most amazing home. Our stay here was over thanks giving with some friends and we had a wonderful time.
The house is impeccable, well equiped kitchen, plenty of lounging space (siting rooms I think you call them here) very warm and well insulated home.
We plan on returning again :)
This is a property worth staying at...We were very pleased with every aspect of our stay..
The property is extremely well kept, thoroughly modern, and incredibly comfortable! The location back in the woods near Bass Harbor was great for having a nice quiet evening after the hustle and bustle of Acadia, Bar Harbor, etc. The home is close enough to Bass and Southwest Harbors for dinner and sightseeing but far enough away for peace and quiet. Great wifi for staying connected and Maria provided a thorough list of recommended local activities, shopping, and dining. If you are looking for a place to stay on MDI look no further!
Arrived midnight after a long travel (4hrs flight and 7hrs drive) and as we entered, it was so inviting that we just slept off in the cozy beds with very clean sheets. The temperature was perfect and fans are provided for air circulation if required. The bathrooms are very clean. The kitchen was stocked with many necessities for quick sip. The kitchenware was very clean without any stains or grease remnants. WiFi was our connection to the outside world as T-Mobile has no coverage in Acadia. The morning views from back patio is so beautiful and equipped with gas grill, chairs and umbrella.
Its all as it is shown in the pictures. The property is very well maintained and the owner was in touch till we reached the house safely the first day. Even though it is far from Bar Harbor, its worth staying here. Watch sunset from the nearby light house. The drive to and from the house is worth staying this far. There are some nice restaurants around 4 miles out and ferry from nearby harbor if interested.
Bass Harbor is located on the Quiet Side of Mt. Desert Island. The harbor is just a several minute walk away from this home, along with two restaurants and ferry terminal to Swan’s Island. The Bass Harbor Lighthouse is about 1 mile away. Wonderland and Ship Harbor hiking trails are less than 2 miles away, and the Seawall picnic area, rocky coastline, and ever-changing tide pools are just beyond. The town of Southwest Harbor is minutes away (by car), and offers a nice variety of restaurants and shops. Bar Harbor is about 25 minutes away.
