Southwestern exposure with expansive views of Ascutney Mountain and the hills beyond provide peaceful and serene vistas. The sense of seclusion is enhanced by the location at the back end of a private drive, surrounded by five acres of wooded privacy and bordering dozens of acres of undeveloped forest. This rustic ranch house offers 3+ bedrooms and two recently renovated baths, providing a perfect place for relaxation after enjoying all the activities available in the Brownsville-Woodstock-West Windsor area: hiking, biking, canoeing, swimming, fishing, etc. A short drive down back roads and country lanes leads to Woodstock, the town green, art galleries and shops. You'll likely pass more horses than cars, as the Green Mountain Horse Association is along the way with access to miles and miles of trails. Several excellent country restaurants are located nearby and provides great opportunity to enjoy locally grown foods and regional craft-brewed beers.
Chances are, however, that you will want to stay and cook at home, in the fully-equipped chef's kitchen and the comfortable deck and barbecue provide a perfect place to prepare all the ingredients acquired during a day's foraging in the local markets.
This house is the getaway you've longer for; peaceful, secluded, comfortable and fully equipped, close enough to 'civilization' and the spas and health clubs of Woodstock and Quechee, and other nearby diversions, yet removed enough to allow for total decompression.
We stayed an October week in the Mountainview home. It was perfect for us. We had a toddler, and my 91 year old Mom. Both acclimated very well. All bedrooms on the same level, except for one that was down just two steps. It has a very open floor plan, so was great for little Oliver.
We visited many Vermont Fall Festivals...even took the long drive to Lincoln, NH one day through the White Mountains. Weather was great. Colors spectacular.
Nice touches in the house...kitchen supplies, Kleenex around the house, shampoos in the bathroom, and even some laundry detergent.
Plenty of firewood was left my Jenny, and a visit, to make sure we had all we needed.
Hope to come back again next fall, or sooner!
We really enjoyed the house and loved the view from the deck. We had a great Sunday brunch on the deck. The house was so well equipped that is was no problem for the six of us to have our son/brother and his family for dinner one evening. We will definitely be back next summer!
The Cincinnati/Cleveland/Indianapolis travelers.
Absolutely gorgeous views of Mt. Ascutney. The house was very spacious, open, quiet, secluded and had a cozy fireplace. My wife loved the kitchen as it also was very open and just perfect. The wood deck was perfect for morning coffee, evening dinners, reading or just taking in the wonderful views of Vermont. Jennifer was truly amazing, professional, prompt and very sweet! We highly recommend this wonderful home!! Thank you again Jennifer!
I stayed at this cabin with 6 friends over MLK weekend. We had the best time cooking, sledding down the driveway, and playing board games. The view was spectacular. We loved sitting by the fire place and relaxing. The space was big enough for all 7 of us to cohabitate comfortably without stepping on each other's toes. It was a wonderful weekend and I hope to make it an annual trip!
Five stars for sure! My group of 6 stayed here for 2 days over Thanksgiving and had an amazing time. The house was perfect, exactly what we were after: quiet, secluded, beautiful view, plenty of space and an excellent central area with a cozy fireplace. The house was well stocked and very clean. Jennifer was extremely professional, prompt and efficient to work with.
We overall couldn't be happier we made the choice to stay here and are already thinking about going back!
We had a "Friendsgiving" up here and wanted to go somewhere picturesque. We got it! The house accomadated all six of us easily and had the most beautiful views. With a small town nearby full of everything you need (especially the delicious Hartland Diner - a must visit!) and hiking and gorgeous covered bridges so easily accessible, this is a great stay for those who appreciate the outdoors and want somewhere cozy to come back to. It has everything you need to cook a huge three course meal (we did!) and lots of room to just relax around the fire with a glass of wine (did that too!) We loved it here! Thanks Jenn for being so friendly and helpful!!
