About Kermit Graf
In 2011 I retired from 31 years as an engineer with Schlumberger. My wife and I own and manage three vacation rental properties. We enjoy providing relaxing and safe properties for our guests and their families. We are both originally from Houston, then moved to Austin in the late 1960s when attending, then graduating from, the University of Texas, where we met each other in the Longhorn Band. Hook-em Horns!
Kermit Graf purchased this Estate in 1853
Why Kermit Graf chose Bellville
Bellheim is 104 acres of land owned by the Grafs, a family of German immigrants who settled here in 1853. Johann Graf immigrated from Posen, Prussia (currently, East Germany), in 1853, landed in Galveston, then settled in this area and called it the “Piney Community.” Bellheim includes ½ mile of a clear, sandy-bottomed creek called Piney. During the 1800s, the Grafs originally had approximately 700 acres of land in the Piney Community. Cotton, and then watermelons, were agricultural crops, and many Graf descendants lived and farmed in the area. In the 1930s, during the Great Depression, our grandparents had a bumper watermelon crop. They shipped a full train carload to Kansas for sale and got a good price for them. The second carload they got a bill because the melons were sold at such a low price it did not cover the cost of freight. Life was difficult. The land is mostly ranch land now as families have either died off or moved to the big city (Houston) where life was easier. Bellheim is the only remaining land owned by the Grafs in what was called the Piney Community. We opened it up for all to enjoy and is great for the young and young-at-heart to explore the creek, its bottom-land and ponds, and miles of trails along the creek and pasture land. The Bellheim house was built in 1978 by Ralph Frank, Otis Graf’s first cousin and son of Olga Graf Frank. Like Otis (our father), Ralph grew up in the Piney Community. Ralph was a master homebuilder in the area, much in demand, and had a colorful character. One of his helpers would always hold a hammer halfway up the handle. Ralph sawed off half the handle and gave it back to him.

Long Weekend Retreat
We had a great time at Bellheim! This was a quick weekend getaway to relax and unwind, and we were able to do that at this property. The house was exactly as described, and the property is serene and beautiful.
Perfect Family Getaway!
We all had such a wonderful time. The house and property was perfect. There were so many fun things to do and places to explore. We fell in love with the town...especially Newman’s Bakery! This was a great time for my kids to disconnect from electronics and for the whole family to connect. Kermit was so attentive and friendly- we will be back!
Great family getaway
Kermit is one of the most responsive and helpful property managers that we've ever worked with. The house is kept up with very well, and there is lots of information provided before and during the visit to make sure you have everything you need to make your stay enjoyable and stress-free.
This is a great place to bring the kids. There is plenty to keep them busy outside (fishing, paddleboating, playing in the creek, the playhouse, exploring the ranch) and inside (ping pong, board games, books and toys).
We have been to this property twice now and look forward to returning in the future. It's very conveniently located to Houston and makes a great weekend getaway.
Beautiful place, very accommodating and clean
I have never stayed anywhere this organized and neat. The home has labels every where to explain where things go, how things work, and how to make your stay more comfortable. It feels like you are visiting a friend who just wants you to have a good time! Also very helpful that the owner makes a lot of basic cleaning and other supplies available - things I often forget! Our kids LOVED the playhouse and the hammock, and we had fun driving to the back 90! A great getaway for sure!
Best Place Ever!!!!!
Back again for the hundredth time. We will always come to the Bellheim property. It has everything you could ever want in a property. You could be relaxing and the kids will disappear for hours or we could all be together having fun. There is fishing, riding, boating, ping pong, playing in the creek, roasting smores on an open fire and lounging in a hammock. And anything else you can think of with plenty of space. When my kids decide it is time to go back they follow me around until I make reservations. And no review is complete without mentioning the owner, Kermit. He is so great. He is very thorough in making sure that you not only have what you need but he makes sure that you can operate everything. There are notes everywhere giving you pointers and tips for your stay. He has been more than accommodating. We will keep returning to Bellheim because it has now become a part of our lives as a great family tradition. We will come as long as they will let us. Thank you Kermit (and family) for sharing your wonderful property with us.
Bellheim was the perfect getaway for our 2019 Cousin Camp! The kids swam and used the peddle-boat in the pond, they explored the woods and creek, and we made smores on the fire-pit each evening. The house and kitchen were well furnished making the stay very comfortable. The grocery store in Bellville is just a short distance away if needed.
Bellheim is a country home on a 100-acre ranch with 2 ponds and a clear, sandy-bottom creek. The nearest town is Bellville, 4 miles away, where there's a Brookshire Brothers grocery store and small-town shopping and restaurants. The nearest Walmart is in Sealy 15 miles away.
