About the property

Original rustic beauty with large rooms, terraces, garden

Rombolo is a eight minutes stroll through olive groves from the lovely traditional village of Casoli just above Camiore. It's seemingly 'away from it all', but an easy day trip to Florence, Pisa, Lucca, and 30 min. from Versilia beaches.

The 2 houses have 3 master bedrooms, 2 single bedrooms, kitchen and 2 bathrooms, large dining area. There are 3 fireplaces, antique pizza oven, frog fountain, coy and lily pond.

The spectacular panorama views of the Camaiore Valley, Lake of Puccini, the Mediterranean Sea, the Apuan Alps and Elba can be seen from the upstairs large terrace and the lower wisteria terrace near the antique pizza oven and large built in BBQ.

Rombolo offers various rental options: House 1 (sleeps 5) and/or House 2 (sleeps 3)

We have our own spring water and, according to Casoli legend, it's magical.

There is so much to do and see nearby including a casual 20 min walk to the river with cascades and dipping pools. Bring a picnic and a book for a leisurely day. Or pop into Pietrasanta for art galleries, restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. Or a day trip to Florence ... or stay at Rombolo take naps, write, sketch, cook great food, enjoy the company.

See more of Rombolo in the Hardcover 'Tuscany Artists at Home' art book on Amazon and on our Rombolo Facebook page.

Fabulous Restored House Outside of Casoli

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a treasure off the beaten path (literally up a mountain and then a 10 minute walk from the parking lot through a village and on a mountain path through an olive grove), this is it. It is a very spacious and comfortable house full of many artistic details. We ate outside for every meal except once when it rained. There is a lovely table on the terrace, another table under a pergola, and yet more tables on a lawn all surrounded by the mountains and priceless views. The house was well stocked and very practical. The hosts are very conscientious and kind. A fabulous place to relax, cook, eat meals together, and well positioned to visit other nearby towns. We hope to return again!

Rombolo

  • 5 of 5

Great Holiday

  • 5 of 5

We (2 couples) spent 2 wonderful weeks at Romboli in September. The days were beautifully warm, with a slight chill in the mornings and evenings. The position of the villa is superb. After a winding 15min drive from the large town of Camaiore, you reach the tiny hamlet of Casoli. Cars are left outside the village. As you walk through the village you begin to relax. The winding track to Romboli is easily walked by people of average fitness, and Jill arranges for your luggage to be driven through on a motorised trolley. Jill is a welcoming, but unobtrusive host, who is able to give as much or as little assistance as you desire. The villa is really lovely and very well appointed. The showers were hot and plentiful, the spring water pure and the house cleaned and linen changed after our first week. The view from the villa is simply breathtaking, and we spent many serene evenings on the upstairs terrace drinking wine and gazing about us - down the lush valley, behind to the soaring mountains and above to the clear skies. The wisteria covered downstairs terrace was perfect for long, lazy lunches. We found that catching the train from Camaiore Lido Station to Pisa, Lucca and Firenze was the best way to see those big tourist towns. We drove to places such as Barga, San Gimingano and Volterre. Casoli has a little bar, which also has basic groceries, there is an excellent Pizzeria in the town of Vado halfway down the mountain, and supermarkets in Camaiore. We all enjoyed every moment of our time at Romboli, and could not recommend it more highly.

Natur pur

  • 5 of 5

Liebe Jill, lieber Julian,

Thanks, Jill

  • 5 of 5

Hi Jill & Julian,

Rombolo proved to be the best holiday home we’ve ever been to (and we’ve seen quite a lot). Never before have we experienced the feeling of being so at one with nature (the house is literally surrounded by green splendour), yet at the same time have all the luxury one enjoys on a relaxing holiday.

The kitchen is so inviting to cook great meals (so is the huge wood barbeque), the outside terrace is the perfect place to enjoy an aperitif while watching the sunset, and we loved waking up with the breath-taking view over the valley in front of us. Cordelia loved the lazy days in the garden (which was all peace & quiet), I greatly enjoyed the fact that culture cities such as Pisa, Lucca & Firenze, plus a really beautiful coast line are all very close by.

Nice surprise: in real life, the house looks even more dazzling than it does on the pictures on your website (which is very rare, indeed). Plus: it’s nice to feel really welcome in a holiday home, and that’s exactly the feeling you gave us.

We’re definitely coming back, and thanks for everything (including the tomato sauce recipe and the walnuts).

We miss you already!

Frederick & Cordelia
