About Jamie Tomczyk

We are both NMU graduates, and love the outdoors! We started our own Fishing Company and Snowplowing Company in Marquette, MI in 2009.

Jamie Tomczyk purchased this cabin in 2009

Why Jamie Tomczyk chose Upper Peninsula Michigan

We were looking for a quiet getaway, not far from Marquette in 2009. When we locked eyes on this cabin we make an offer on the spot, and 30 days later we were moving in!! We love the peace and quiet of the lake and neighbors. We try to stay there as much as possible during our off seasons, when we are not plowing or fishing on Lake Superior!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Its really going to be hard packing up the car and driving back to Chicago tomorrow! We have enjoyed the change of scenery so much and the cabin was wonderful! We got to see some wildlife and Scott is trying to fish right now, which is pretty funny to watch :) Thanks so much for having us!

Peaceful and Cozy

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I stayed here and it was a good experience. The cabin was clean and there were the bare essentials in the kitchen, which came in very handy. I don't think there is an "outdoor shower area" as stated in the description. I saw was a shower curtain hanging on a bird feeder hook, so maybe that was it, but it was not clear and it would have been nice to have something set up to shower in with the shower bag. We had a question during the week and Jamie was very quick at responding, which was very helpful. It is a beautiful little lake, and very, very peaceful, so it was exactly what we were looking for in that respect! Thanks so much!

Great, quiet, secluded escape!

  • 4 of 5

The lake was beautiful and we had an early morning visit from some swans the last day. Our dog Lily love jumping in the lake and the night fires were relaxing and gorgeous with the view of the lake while the sun set. Thanks for a UP experience we will never forget!

Secluded, quaint Summer Camp!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is cute and secluded, the perfect opportunity to disconnect and getaway. Jamie puts a lot of effort into making sure you are familiar with the route from your residence to the cabin and likes to make sure you enjoy your stay. She makes herself available for questions, is very kind and considerate of her guests.

A Gorgeous Secluded Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We were so happy with our visit to this cabin! I booked it, not knowing what to expect, but the owners were so accommodating. It was so peaceful, quiet and secluded. Exactly what we all were looking for. The owner went above and beyond for us including extra towels, toilet paper, charcoal, firewood, patio set, etc. We were so pleased and would definitely come again. Some things I think people should know before going here is that the house numbers go out of order at one point, so don't turn around if you can't find it right away. Also, a solar shower consists of solar bags, a shepards hook, and a shower curtain, but there are plenty of water areas surrounding to wash up in. I wouldn't suggest using Aleck Lake or expect it to being a great swim spot. It's more for the view and fishing. Last improvement or suggestion would be a clothes line. Other than that you literally only need to bring yourself, food and clothes for your stay. I would definitely refer to a friend. We loved it and hope to go back! Thank you!

Home away from home

We arrived July 19th - 21st. The cabin is a very beautiful, peaceful place. The place was clean and has all u need for your stay . Enjoyed fishing off dock, many different kinds of fish in lake . We even seen bullfrogs and turtles. We went to the pictured rocks , that was a beautiful scenery . The drive is not to far from the cabin. We enjoyed our campfires at night . This is a place I definitely would return too . Thank you for such a wonderful stay.
