About Hillary Ebbesen

We are a newlywed couple that loves the outdoors and all of the wonderful seasons the U.P has to offer. Our hearts are in this Munising area as we both grew up around here and enjoy it all year round. This cabin is our little dream come true and we are so excited for you to experience it!

Hillary Ebbesen purchased this cabin in 2017

Why Hillary Ebbesen chose Upper Peninsula Michigan

We have been looking for a property in this area because our families have had cabins here our entire lives. When we locked eyes on this cabin we made an offer on the spot, and 30 days later we were moving in! We love the peace and quiet of the lake and neighbors. We love to stay here ourselves and snowmobile, kayak different rivers, fish the lakes, explore pictured rocks, and just enjoy each other in a perfectly peaceful property.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Its really going to be hard packing up the car and driving back to Chicago tomorrow! We have enjoyed the change of scenery so much and the cabin was wonderful! We got to see some wildlife and Scott is trying to fish right now, which is pretty funny to watch :) Thanks so much for having us!

Nice relaxing vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our stay had many memories from just having a place to relax to catching all the fish in the lake. There was plenty to do just staying at the cottage. Hillary and Jason are a very nice young couple who we got to meet. And the stars at night were very bright, an astrophotographers delight.

Tranquil Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the cabin the week of July 9-15th. What can I say? This is the perfect escape from chaos! My husband and I spent a weeklong vacation at this lovely retreat, visiting all the natural beauty the area has to offer. If you are looking for a true cabin experience, this is the place!

Renters:

The cabin is equipped with the basics (towels, bug spray, salt, pepper, etc). Prepare for cool/cold nights (temps in the 50's in July). The roads to the cabin are primitive so be prepared for gravel and potholes. Keep the charcoal in the house or your vehicle, water enters the shed. At the time we were there the grill lid was missing the handle for the top, so bring a pair of heat mitts to pick the lid up off the hot grill. Bring plenty of water: the mineral content of the water is not a hard water issue. The hot water tank is small, so showers will be quick!

This is a beautiful place; located in a portion of our country that most are unaware of. If you love nature and enjoy unplugging; you will love staying here! It is perfect!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your kind words! :) I wasn't aware we were missing the grill handle! Lol We will have to get up there and get that taken care of! We also plan on putting up a new (dry) shed this fall and installing a full sized water tank, if you choose to stay again, keep these things in mind. ;) Thank you again!

Enjoyable and Relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

This is a peaceful and relaxing get away into the UP. This cabin was a great central location for us as we traveled around and explored up north. I am positive anyone staying here will enjoy themselves!

A perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

I cannot say enough how much we enjoyed our stay here! We only had 2 days but immediately wished we'd had a week. Some of our favorite features were the stocked kitchen, nice bathroom, coziest bed ever, and rocking chairs to enjoy the peaceful sunrise. Munising is close and we loved the adorable coffee shop/book store (Falling Rocks, I believe) there. The only small negative, that wasn't even bothersome enough to take away a star, is that the shower (a recent upgrade) only has about 2 minutes of warm water, then runs ice cold. Neither of us take long or very hot showers so we didn't mind too much, but if you're really reliant on that luxury, it may bother you more. Overall, I'd recommend this cabin in a heartbeat and will be back again!

Owner's Response: Thank you both so much! We are happy you enjoyed your stay so much! In regards to the shower, we are planning to build an addition that will include a large hot water tank. We just recently purchased the cabin and dove into many many renovations, didn't have the time for the water tank, and especially now with it being the middle of renting season. You'll have to come back and enjoy a nice long hot shower next year. ;)
