I came to the Big Island of Hawaii in 1985 as a Food and Beverage Director for a small Hawaiian Resort. I fell in love, got married, had a son, opened a restaurant (12 yr and closed in 2008). Now, find myself a single empty nester in a house too big for just me... I think I have been watching too much HGTV ..so as a Realtor and DIY enthusiast I decided to remodel my son's room and bath into a vacation rental..
What fun! Travertine tile bathroom floor, slick new vessel vanity..storage galore... wet bar and private lanai... all in 2 weeks!
You'll love the lotus pond and gardens..
If you are looking for a place to buy while you are here, please let me know..I will be happy to pull up listing you can peruse during your stay...
BTW I have 2 cats Kit Kat and Goldie, 18 Hens laying ( no roosters to wake you)...
Amy Ferguson purchased this house in 1986
I have the best of both worlds.. Cool elevation and 180 degree coastal sunset views...I haven't found anywhere I would rather live here in Hawaii... great location, great views, close to any activity... serene...
If you are a food enthusiast, then you are in luck. I offer private chef and catering services...any meal and cooking classes as well as farm tours at an additional charge...You'll enjoy the harvest of the organic gardens, my hens fresh daily eggs and if you would like breakdown of restaurants in the area...
My husband found the listing for the Little Surf Shack and all the reviews had five stars. So we booked for two weeks. Easy to find with our GPS, located high up and back from the Kona Airport. No plane noise, an expansive view, the house has lovely gardens, enough storage for our items, a small refrigerator, coffee maker and other items you want. We prepared our breakfasts using the hot plate and pans, and there is a grill on the lanai that we did not use, the lanai provides additional space to walk out on or relax at the table. Plenty of towels are provided. There was a beach umbrella, two beach chairs, and two boogie boards which we used nearly daily. The neighborhood is residential and we enjoyed our stay always looking forward to returning to the the Little Surf Shack to relax until the next day of adventure on this our now favorite Hawaiian island the Big Island. Thanks again Amy for providing wonderful accommodations and your Aloha spirit.
Amy is a very caring and considered person . Always making sure all our needs were met. The view was breathtaking and the room was very clean. We are looking forward to going back to Hawaii and staying at Amy's residents. We would recommend our friends and family to stay there.
We booked Amy's place for 4 nights and it was exactly as advertised. The views from the deck were perfect as we watched the sun set each night. We used the deck to have dinner and also cooked meals on the grill. The place is basically a one room efficiency with a mini fridge and a sink however we cooked all kinds of meals using the grill and hot plate. Amy had the place fully stocked with Micro wave, coffee pot, plates and utensils etc so it worked for us. The bed was extremely comfortable as well. We loved shower/tub which had strong water pressure and very hot water.
When we were looking for places to stay we wanted a place that was convenient to the airport as we had traveled close to 24 hours to get to Hawaii and didn't want to go on a long drive when we arrived. Amy's place is about 5-8 minutes away which worked.
Amy was a great host and when we go back we will definitely want to stay at her place again.
Beaches are closehospitality is wonderful places are clean and well stocked quiet neighborhood
My wife and I had a wonderful time on the Big Island. We lived on Oahu for five years and when we visit the islands we look for places to stay that provide a quiet and peaceful setting away for the rest of the crowds. Amy’s is a wonderful host and her rental was just what we wanted.
Thank you Amy,
v/r, Bill & Wendy
The property has a good location,.The lani is great for cooking, there's a grill which makes a nice setting over looking the water and with table and chairs for the romantic scene for having dinner with a sunset. Amy is great, she doesn't bother you,but their when needed,my 12 days were very relaxing. I highly recommend this place to anybody who wants to a good vacation, she also has plenty of brochures to go and do just about everything the island has to offer.
I would like to take the time to thank Amy for a wonderful time
Sincerely Jeff Salter
