Stephen Whisler purchased this apartment in 2008
We recently had a wonderful stay here. Stephen and Sabine were wonderful hosts - helpful, friendly and willing to provide great suggestions for things to do, wineries and restaurants.
The location is beautiful, the patio views alone should be enough to make you want to stay here. We enjoyed several evenings watching the local deer walking around the property, whilst the sun set. The grounds are beautifully maintained, and there are a lot of great, unique details around the space.
The location is a 25 minute walk to downtown Napa. This is a wonderful, peaceful walk which we did every morning with our dog to get coffee. Everyone is exceptionally friendly and the scenery is stunning. Its exceptionally easy to get around from this location- we used our own car and ubers during the weekend.
The inside of the property is furnished beautifully with mid century furniture, great art and some great unique details. Its fully equipped with everything you need for a stay and the kitchen is fully stocked if you plan to cook like we did. Its a well maintained, exceptionally clean and very comfortable space.
We had such a wonderful time at this location. Our friends who were staying nearby at a hotel came by, and are already planning a trip back so they can rent this location. Dont be put off with the location not being directly downtown, this is a hidden gem!
I cant rate this place highly enough, we cant wait to go back!
You will not be disappointed! Such a beautiful place, view, and friendly owners. The actual property overlooks all of Napa. It is at the highest point to look down on the town. Very beautiful. The place above his art studio they actually lived in for a year. He remodeled places in New York and definitely did a fabulous Job with this one. I will definitely make more trips to Napa just to stay here.
Loved it! Way better than any hotel ever could be.
Sabine and Stephen's place is perfect for anyone wanting to explore Napa Valley but enjoy peace and quiet at the end of a hard day's touring. The one-bedroom apartment above the couple's artist studio is well-appointed and most tastefully decorated. We loved the restrained, comfortable furniture and the original artwork, but mostly the beautiful natural light that floods the apartment by day, the quietness of the neighborhood and the superb view over Napa with regular appearances by deer, wild turkeys and squirrels. The apartment is just minutes away by car from the Oxbow Market and downtown Napa - very handy, and close to the Silverado Trail, the valley's second, quieter, more scenic traffic artery running north-south. Lots of wineries are along the Trail, including Joseph Phelps and Stag's Leap. Sabine and Stephen are both extremely friendly and approachable. I couldn't recommend the place more!
We loved this sweet apartment overlooking the woods. Sabine and Stephen were wonderful hosts. Very responsive when we had any questions or needed anything. We both enjoyed making their acquaintance.
The photos really don't do the property justice. The remodel that they did on this guest apartment is perfect for the space and takes advantage of the natural lighting. We woke every morning to deer in the backyard. And the sunset view is gorgeous.
Both Stephen and Sabine are artist so you'll find nice little personal touches throughout the rental. We look forward to our next vacation here!
We could not have asked for a more perfect weekend getaway. The property overlooks the town of Napa. While just a quick ~10 minute drive up from the valley, during the day it feels like a secluded wooded retreat with deer paths winding through the hillside yard. At night, the view transforms with lights from the town below. The modest apartment-over-garage/art studio was equipped with every amenity, all with the minimal, stylish touch of the owners. Hosts Stephen and Sabine made us feel right at home and are just fascinating people with great stories to share.
We plan to find all sorts of excuses to return to here!
We could only squeeze in a 1 night stay on our tour of California and we were bummed about it. The location is awesome - at the top of a pretty long and steep hill that allows for great views of the valley/city but is not too great for jogging up :). The owners had great communication prior to our arrival and were there to greet us but are not all up in your mix. They had people over one night and the property is big enough (dual driveways, separate building etc) that neither party knew the others were there until we talked on our way out the next day. We bought a candle in town and chilled on the patio overlooking the sunset with a bottle we had bought at Silverado Winery (also great views). The sun seemed to beam light for an unusually long time after passing below the horizon - no idea why but no complaining! Had a blast. Worth every penny!
