Light Filled 3BR 1 Bath Duplex on the 1st Floor, 1050 SF
About Jerry Clemens
Jerry is a small business owner, inventor, creative and also a sailor. 30 years ago, Jerry started buying rental property. After staying in several VRBO homes recently, he was impressed with the experience of staying in homes cared for by private individuals instead of hotels. He loves taking photos of the front doors of all the VRBO homes he has stayed in (trust me, he has no photos of any hotels he has stayed :). We always find great restaurant and music experiences when traveling. It is amazing how much we now rely on VRBO hosts to find local food, local music, and local grocery/wine shops.
Jerry Clemens purchased this Apartment in 1979

I've stayed in a number of shared spaces using services like VRBO and AirBnB. Rarely have I had a host who was so informative and communicative!
It was a wonderful space for our needs as we were out of the house most of the weekend. The layout for the bedrooms is a little surprising (you have to walk through one bedroom to get into or out of another), but we didn't mind it. It has spacious community spaces in the dining and living room.
We really enjoyed the neighborhood, and met the local neighborhood cat, Charlie, who was very friendly.
Definitely would recommend for friends or family who want to spend a little time in the Twin Cities.
Would absolutely stay again.
Quaint and simple
We stayed for a couple of days with 6 people - it was a great place! We were able to enjoy the comforts of home while on vacation:)
Very charming and comfortable. Loved that this place was so close to Uptown. We throughly enjoyed the entire experience.
Very nice place. Very homey!
We had a great time. We felt very at home there.
Great place to stay! Would return!
This was a great place and super close to uptown! The quick walk to shops and restaurants made for a great weekend. The house was cute and cozy and worked great for a weekend with friends!
Pictures are not representative of room size or layout--We left!
1) The home is not as depicted online. The decorations are the same, but the size of the rooms in the pictures are not representative.
2) The home was listed as a 3 bedroom home. There are 3 beds, yes, but there is only one room in the residence that is of adequate size and composition to be called a room. The other two have beds in them and "closets" (loosely) and you can barely move around the beds to walk in the room. The 1st room as two doors, one on either wall, as if it must have been a dining room at one point (that now has a bed in it). The 2nd room is the smallest and is actually the only route to the back bedroom.
3) Due to the configuration: front room, "thru" room, and back room...we had no choice but to make the back room the one we would use for our baby. Please note, that while this is the most adequately sized room...there is again two doors to this room, one to the "thru" room and one that is deadbolted. A bedroom door with a deadbolted??!! As we get settled I learn that this room's door is deadbolted because there is a common hallway to the upstairs unit. This is not a solid front or back door mind you, just a regular bedroom door with a deadbolt that separates my baby from people I don't know. Not ok and definitely not what we would have agreed to if we had known.
4) The unit was not thoroughly cleaned. Surface wise, yes...but there were dead flies everywhere and when I went to check on the baby there were spiders crawling on the floor of the back bedroom.
If I would have known the true size of the unit, the layout of the bedroom door having access from a shared hallway...I never would have rented the unit. Ever.
The very first night I communicated this to Jerry and told him we were vacating the next morning and wanted a refund--note we were not asking for a refund of the first night or the cleaning expense. He refused. (He did tell me to cancel and that if anyone rented, I would be refunded the nights that were rented. I found out through my Homeaway complaint that if I had cancelled I would have had zero support from them and that he was leading me down a path where I would not have had any options). I did tell him that if we didn't reach an agreement I would file a formal complaint and post a review to his unit. He then questioned my motives and again refused. He did go as far to say in one of his notes that only 8 of a 100 people have not liked his unit--that is a lot!I
