We had an overall fantastic stay. Because my husband and I have a 2 year old, we took the downstairs section which was more like the master area. There was also a sliding door in the downstairs area which made it easier to bring our dog in as well and take him for early morning walks so as not to wake the rest of the family upstairs. It is a very dog friendly area, as long as keep your dog leashed (it seemed as if everyone brought their dog). The window unit AC kept the place cool, for the most part. The downstairs was very hot though. Our 15 year old son took the room with no TV, which was fine for him as he uses his phone to watch videos anyways. His room had a framed bed, fan, and dresser and he had zero complaints!
My sister and her fiancé took the room next to his which was a mirror opposite, except that it did have another small TV with basic cable. However, their bed did not have a frame and it was not as sturdy. The upstairs rooms are very small.
We only had a few small problems during our stay. These problems are not to be held against Pat, as they were out of his control, and he did try to make good on them. Even though Pat was away on his own vacation this week, he made sure he was available to us the entire time. We had no WIFI the entire time we were there, which did affect our cell phone bills. Once we realized the WIFI issue, a few hours after our arrival, we contacted him and he contacted the property management and asked them to reset the WIFI. We are unsure if they ever did because nothing ever worked. Also, if you have small children that require baths, not showers, you will want to bring a portable/inflatable tub, as the showers are not baby/toddler friendly. The upstairs bathroom is tight quartered, which was fine for my 15 year old, but my sister and her fiancé definitely had to use our bathroom. The location of the property was perfect. There is a nearby bridge just outside the drive that you will find a nightly crowd at watching the sunset. There is so much to do around the area. We were busy every day. Overall, we had an amazing week. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We decided before we left that we will be returning again next summer and that this may bet he place we do our annual summer vacation.
We love this cottage. The place is roomy and always clean. Centrally located between Freeport outlets and Portland. 15 minutes to a great zoo in Grey.
Great place to relax and unwind! Cottage had everything we needed and the owner was very responsive to any questions we had. You can't beat this location for being close to all that Greater Portland and the lakes region have to offer! The only thing it doesn't have is a sandy beach, but plenty of space to find a nice spot on the lawn to sit overlooking the basin.
This cabin was just what my family wanted and needed for our 4th of July vacation! Owner was great to work with and responded immediately to all our questions and needs. Only down side was the wifi which was very spotty but that could be due to the fact that it is shared by all cabin tenants and just the location but other than that this is a great rental!
