My name is Wes and I handle the internet for the owners. Pete and Sylvia are retirees from California. Sylvia worked in the restaurant industry and Pete worked in heating and air-conditioning. Sylvia takes care of the grounds and unable to sit around Pete chose to do what he loves most. He bought the entire end of the point and started renovating all the buildings on it. He spares no expense and the work is outstanding.
Why Wes chose Winter Harbor
Pete hasn't started working on this unit yet except to build a new sun room and deck off the southern end for you to enjoy the views of the bay and ocean. You won't find another property in this price range that has the amount of shoreline and remarkable views that this one has. We've been renting this since about 2009 and I wish you could read some of the guestbook comments. But you are just going to have to come see for yourself.

We had an amazing, relaxing week in Winter Harbor. The views from the cabin can't be beat and we really enjoyed and appreciated Sylvia's blueberry pie!
Just a delight
What a treasure! As veteran Maine vacationers this spot hit every box for us; a family of four with two younger teens. The juxtaposition of privacy and waterfront with downtown (shops, restaurant, kids art center) a short walk away is a rare find. Winter Harbor is a gem. Quick ferry rides to Bar Harbor, access to the local Seafood co-op and organic farm allowed for any kind of meal or entertainment we desired. This trip we enjoyed Acadia Improv and the Theatre. Lots of antiquing, glass shop hunting and blueberry picking. Kids enjoyed water, lobster festival and Roques Bluff Beach. Cottage was impeccable. Online photos don't do it justice. Vintage charm with all of the creature comforts (comfy beds!) Morning coffee on the deck, evenings grilling and dining in the screened porch, walks about the beautiful grounds and friendly chatter with the loveliest of hosts. And the homemade blueberry pie waiting for us when we checked in...perfect touch! Don't miss Schoodic Point. Will be back soon!
Location, lobcation, location. Just beautiful.
We had a wonderful vacation week at this cottage and would return in a minute! It was hard to leave. The friendly owners on site were wonderful and as everyone else raves about, Sylvia's "warm" blueberry pie was DELICIOUS!! The way the cottage is situated you have your own little "oasis" of quietness, beauty, and peace. Not only is there a sun porch where, we ate our meals, but the deck outside with nice deck furniture and a huge bar-b-q added to our comfortable stay. There are just too many good things to say about Guptill Cottage and the surrounding settings. Winter Harbor is small but we enjoyed the restaurants that were still open in October. Instead of driving to Bar Harbor we used the ferry as our transportation to visit very busy Bar Harbor. There were three cruise ships in the harbor usually plus many, many buses. The ferry let us enjoy the scenery as we made our trips back and forth.
Just can't say enough about our time spent with Peter and Sylvia on their beautiful piece of "heaven." It's the perfect "home away from home."
We LOVED everything about Guptill!
I am honest by saying we have no complaints. The setting, the homes, the owners and property manager; all top rated. The home is comfortable and clean and decorated with character. Outside is beautiful and scenery to admire.. We walked to various restaurants and the grocery. The Island Explorer stop is close to take you to Schoodic or it's a 5 minute drive. Every night we sat by the fire pit. We cooked lobster bought from the co-op. We enjoyed the outdoor grill. We drove 5 min to take the ferry to Bar Harbor. We had friendly chats with the owners and they gave us helpful ideas and a clear understanding of why the love the area. The kitchen is fully stocked, a few games for kids, a CD player. Really everything to make us comfortable was there. Thank you!!!
