About Owner/Manager

I grew up in upstate New York, working on my brother's hay farm during the summers. I've been in Virginia since 1989 and run an IT firm, a federal contractor.

Owner/Manager purchased this house in 2002

Why Owner/Manager chose Virginia

This house is not a typical cabin. It is a fully appointed house, a peaceful getaway on a working hay and horse farm. The trainers work on gentling wild mustangs for the Bureau of Land Managment. With miles of trails, you can hike, walk through the woods and enjoy a peaceful setting in the country.

What makes this house unique

Quiet, peaceful farm setting, woods and fields with trails for hiking, fenced back yard.

Summer on the Farm

  • 5 of 5

We were in between houses and the turned out to be perfect for us as we needed a furnished location that allowed dogs - we have three.

The farm staff are terrific - very helpful and mindful of our presence while they went about the day to day running of the farm. And the exposure to the horses was quite an interesting experience for us

The absolute perfect place

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I have vacationed with our dogs for almost 30 years. It has always been a real challenge for us to find a suitable place that would allow us to bring our pets. Well !!! This place was the best we have ever rented in all those years. Not only was the backyard fenced, but there was even a gate to secure the large deck, which let us have great outdoor time with our dogs, and the 4 year old child who visited us.

The house is beautiful, and very clean. The kitchen is very well stocked, and has all the conveniences you could want. It is scenic, quiet, peaceful, and the perfect place to relax. The people who run the farm are very nice, and even invited us to come to watch one of their training sessions as they worked with one of their new mustangs. I have always been very nervous around most horses, but I could tell right away, that their trained horses were very gentle, and didn't hesitate to approach and pet them. Even my wife couldn't believe it, because she know how cautious I am near horses.

Here is the real amazing thing about this rental property. My wife and I now own a vacation rental of our own up in Maine. We have spent the last 8 years doing our best to make it the perfect place for us, and our guests to enjoy. We understand first hand just how difficult a task this is. Though we have been able to keep our cabin as clean, and well equipped as this cabin, this rental actually worked out better for us because of the fenced yard and secure deck than our own cabin is.

If you are planning a trip to Virginia this should be one of the places you should consider very seriously. Even if it isn't so close to where you want to spend your time, it might be worth a little daily drive time to stay at such a nice place.

We are very grateful to Paul (The Owner)who allowed us to stay at his wonderful home, and we hope to return some time very soon.

Cozy cabin on a lovely farm

  • 5 of 5

We spent a lovely long weekend at Anna Valley Farm. The cabin was comfortable and had everything we needed, and the owner Paul was very responsive through the whole process. It was fun being on the farm, watching the sun go down with horses and a donkey right outside the window. We used it as a base to explore Charlottesville, tour Monticello, and visit some local wineries. Highly recommended--we will definitely come back when we are in the area!

Anna Valley Farm

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had such a nice time staying in the lovely cabin on Anna Valley Farm. The cabin was adorable and so comfy. It had everything we needed and were very pleased. Amanda and Micha who worked the farm were just great and very informative. We really liked being on the farm with the horses and goats and donkey. We had our small dog with us and she was right at home. The cabin had a fence around it so she could go out and run around. We walked all around and the pastures and meadows were beautiful. Paul, the owner, was a gem, and very accessible and quick to respond.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much Mary and Bruce, it was wonderful having you and hope you come back soon! Update--I've changed the second bedroom to remove the sofa bed and put in a queen size bed, dresser, etc. Hope you made it back safely despite the SC flooding. Next time, I promise that we'll have better weather :) I know, I know...we can't control the weather :)

We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the farm. The house was clean and the house was comfortable. Every thing worked and it was close to all the local attractions.

It was a pleasure to watch the many horses on the farm with all their goats, donkeys and chickens. It was convenient Richmond as we have grandchildren there. We enjoyed the farm.

Peace and Quiet yet not far from everything!

  • 5 of 5

Owner is quick to reply to inquiries. We loved this house with it's big front porch to relax on and watch the horses! Inside is terrific with an updated kitchen (having plenty of dishes, glasses, pots & pans, bowls and a huge stove). The King bed is comfortable and the bath and 1/2 bath allows 2 to get ready at the same time, so you're out the door quicker to see it all. The living room has a comfortable couch and 2 huge recliners (try to stay awake on those)! Many comforts of home such as A/C, TV with Cable, DVD,and a Dishwasher. The rear deck offers a place to sit and grill outdoors. We've been to many places with VRBO in 10 years and this is in our top picks with nothing to complain about! You won't see anything dirty or be afraid to cook on it or with it. You're near Gordonsville, Wineries (Barboursville is our favorite) Antiques and don't miss Louisa! Great town with 2 great Restaurants. Very Peaceful area and really relaxing to just sit around. However, you're close to Rte. 64 to travel to Charlottesville (with a great Downtown Mall), see Monticello, more wineries, and tour the University of Virginia! We love this area and plan to return again. Thanks Paul, for letting us bring our pets! We enjoyed meeting you! You have everything to in the house for guests to be comfortable. We recommend this house to friends and relatives. Len and Sandra
