About Michele Vaughn

In 1990, my husband and I got engaged in the California mountains and we have been escaping to the high country ever since. We are an active family and enjoy using our mountain retreat for all the activities that exist in the Big Bear Valley. We never run out of places to explore and adventures share, which made Big Bear Lake the perfect location for us to buy a vacation home of our own. One day, we’d like to retire up here – until then, we’re content to try to keep up with our kids! There are endless options of things to do and see here, all under the glorious California sunshine. We hope that you’ll enjoy all that Camp Run A Muk Big Bear Lake has to offer!

Michele Vaughn purchased this cabin in 2003

Why Michele Vaughn chose Big Bear

Our family loves nature and playing outdoors! That's one of the main reasons we chose to buy our vacation home in the city of Big Bear Lake. Due to our work schedules we needed to have a place that our family could escape to within a couple of hours. Big Bear is just a short (and easy) 2 hour drive from our home in Orange County, and only slightly longer for our extended family and friends in Los Angeles and San Diego Counties. Access up the mountain is easy with 3 highways leading up the mountain and right in to the city of Big Bear Lake. Drive time is an important factor when you want to ski and travel on the same day.

Big Bear truly is a 4 season resort area with so much to do year round. We love being centrally located to so many fun activities in every season -- awesome mountain & trail biking throughout Big Bear Valley, hiking & wildlife viewing, fishing & boating on Big Bear Lake and of course great snow boarding & skiing at Snow Summit and Bear Mountain.

What makes this cabin unique

Camp Run A Muk Big Bear Lake has been a wonderful vacation home in so many ways. After a fire (2009) we rebuilt our home with the idea of hosting large groups of friends and families. At that time everything was replaced and upgraded. Our great mountain home, can easily house up to 18 people. The home is unique in that the Dining room can seat 8 at the dining table and an additional 12 at the breakfast bar. The open layout of the house allows for large groups to relax together while still having their own space.

The little kids can sled in the fenced backyard on our own small private bunny hill. Experience the private patio, grill and hot tub while enjoying the starry night sky. Relax in the Family room with the giant fireplace and your favorite book. Prepare a hearty meal for friends and family in a dream gourmet kitchen. End the evening with a game pool in the Gameroom or cuddle up and watch a movie.

Our home is located in the prestigious community of Eagle Point, a quiet residential community. The streets are flat and maintained by the city so during periods of heavy snow our property is still accessible. There are no steep driveways and when more than an inch of snow falls, our plow service will clear the driveway for you. In the Winter, there is no parking on the city streets but we have a very large, flat circular driveway that fits 8 cars.

The lake is only a couple streets away and in the Summer our renters have access to a boat slip at a small additional fee. Big Bear Lake is a public lake that is 7 miles long and has 21 miles of shoreline.

Located close to “The Village” downtown area, Snow Summit and Bear Mountain ski resorts, a short walk to the free shuttle service and adjacent to major biking paths, skiing, golfing, tennis and hiking. Our 3,000 sqft. vacation home is perfect for guests looking for the extraordinary home to spend their winter or summer vacation. We wish your family, lots of joy and many 'Marathon Fun Days'!

Very well decorated, cleaned, and organized. It made me feel at home

  • 5 of 5

Where do I start, the cabin was beautiful. Everything about the location was wonderful. The cabin was 10 minutes or less from everything, whether it's activities or the grocery store, it was right around the corner. The Jacuzzi was so relaxing Nd it was very enjoyable barbecuing and relaxing on the deck. If I need another large rental in the future, I will most definitely be re-renting here. Michele was so friendly and accommodating and very prompt, she is a great renter. I have ZERO negative things to say about my entire experience.

We had a great time in Big Bear and the house is perfect for our group. Michele even gave us a nice gift basket... Kids love all the treats so as the adults! I highly recommend this place and will definitely come back! We just wish it had the AC as when we came up, it was pretty hot in Big Bear

Owner's Response: Hi Socorro, Thanks for your great review of Camp Run A Muk! I make me proud when I receive reviews like yours and it lets me know that I am doing a good job when our clients have a great vacation. About once a year, for a few days, it gets above 90 degrees in Big Bear but it usually cools down so much in the evenings that there isn't a need for air conditioning because the ceiling fans usually do a nice job of cooling down the house. Unfortunately, it was exceptionally hot during your stay and I understand it stayed hot through the evening. I did go ahead and purchase a few additional fans so hopefully when you return the issues will be resolved. Again, thank you for choosing to stay with us and we hope to have you back again soon. Sincerely, Michele

Camp run a muck was the perfect getaway for my girlfriends and me. Very comfortable and spacious, well stocked kitchen and looked exactly like the pictures. We had a great time and almost didn't even want to leave the house to go to the lake because we were having so much fun.

Great home with all the amenities!

  • 5 of 5

Camp Run a Muk was a great home and fit our family and friends perfectly. The kids room with bunk beds was a great way to keep the kids contained and entertained (it has a tv and foos ball table). It snowed most of the weekend while we were there, but the home was well equipped to entertain our whole party (10 adults and 7 kids). The home has everything you need including a pool table, ping pong, darts, jacuzzi, foos ball, 2 fire places, and a complete kitchen. Our only complaints were minor - the pool table was in pretty poor shape (the table tilts and the pockets had 2 liter bottles duck taped in them) and the ping pong paddles were falling apart. The darts were also pretty bent and the electronic dart board wasn't working. Not enough to lower my rating as we still had fun and made it work, but it's a cheap fix for the owner to enhance the experience. Also, the house seemed a bit dirty but I think it hadn't been rented in a while since we came in the off season so it was probably cleaned after the last stay and then been vacant for awhile. Other than those minor things, the place was great!! And we really appreciated the welcome basket Michele provided!! The hot chocolate, candy and other goodies came in handy during our stay! :) Overall, I'd highly recommend this place for a fun weekend in Big Bear!

Owner's Response: Dear Lauren, Thank you so much for the glowing review of our home. I appreciate you taking the time to write and post your review of Camp Run A Muk for our future guests. You will be happy to know as soon as the snow cleared, we had a brand new pool table installed. I would have liked to have had it installed before your arrival but the snow prevented the removal of the old one and delivery of a new one. Also, next time you come back you will be able to find extra ping pong paddles in the wet bar area. We are find that the paddles don't stand up to well for some reason. Finally, I do agree that the house was likely a little dusty because we had a horrible pollen issue this year. In fact, the whole town looked like it was covered in a blanket of yellow dust--That darn pollen gets everywhere! I can assure you that the house was fully cleaned and dusted prior to your arrival but we just couldn't keep all the pollen out. Thankfully most of the pollen is now gone and our home is back to tip top shape. I look forward to your return visit and again thank you for bringing these issues to my attention. Sincerely, Michele

We had a very full "Welcome" basket that was greeting us on the dining table with goodies for the kids and the rest of the fam. Thank you, Michele.

My family and I, plus a few friends, plan annual snow trips and this cabin is by far the BEST cabin we've stayed in. The backyard was FILLED with fresh snow. My kids, niece/nephew had a blast sledding and sliding down the slope, building a snow man and making snow angels. It was perfect. We didn't even have to leave! The adults enjoyed the billiard table and darts.

We also loved the layout of the home.. everything was very open and all of the windows brought in the perfect amount of light.

The sheets were super clean. We had access to the laundry room. The master bath was spectacular. Parking for 8 cars. Just awesome!

I highly recommend Michele and her cabin. It was a great experience and an amazing and memorable weekend. We will definitely be back!
