Or maybe you'd enjoy a sunrise while listening to the migrating water fowl fly over.

Slip into the 6 person jacuzzi enclosed in a romantic cedar gazebo with sliding windows surrounded by the old english secret garden with an outdoor gas fire pit. Have a special event here such as an engagement party, bridal shower, a small wedding, a small family reunion, retirement party or just to get away from it all. The Delta River Grove Cottage is sure to be all you are looking for, or just a romantic get away for two or several couples or friends to enjoy each others company.

Ready to have some fun and action? Why not play a game of pool on the commercial size beautiful pool table in the game room and bar. Are you a dart enthusiast, play a game while listening to your favorite CD or radio station with outdoor sound as well. Bar features a refrigerator and trash compactor for re-cycling.

Want some additional entertainment, watch TV on the big screen with surround sound in the cozy family room by the wood burning fireplace. Kick back and relax while reclining in the leather couch or laying on the window seat cushion in the bay window looking out to the lemon trees. This window seat is said to be a very comfortable place for a single person to sleep with the window open feeling that cool refreshing Delta breeze flow through.

Cooking a meal in the fully equipped gourmet kitchen is great for entertaining. There is a large island and there is seating for 6 by the bay window and french doors overlooking the english secret garden with statues and garden art. If you like lemons pick some meyers fresh lemons from the lemon trees they are like no other.

Having company over for entertaining or just want a more formal setting for dinner, enjoy the warm and cozy decor of the dining room with seating for 8. This wonderfully decorated room is right off the kitchen and the game room with french doors looking our to the old english secret garden.

Rather barbeque? The large gas BBQ grill is also great for entertaining and separate burner right off of the kitchen for added convenience and staying a part of the fun.

This 3 bedroom home features a large bedroom with a California king Swedish mattress. It's a fantastic room for sleeping in with dark wood plantation shutters to block out the sunrise. There is a half bath, a large closet and a built in big screen TV, DVD player and a stereo.

There is a large bedroom off of the over sized hall bath with antique furniture, a king size sleep by number bed for dual comfort as you please, a large closet, enclosed flat screen TV with DVD player. A marble vanity for getting ready, windows looking out to the sloped levee front yard of a massive flower garden with roses, lavender, butterfly bushes, trailing ivy and more.

Before retiring for the evening enjoy the jacuzzi tub for two which boasts the feeling of being in your own private grotto with beautiful stained glass windows imported rose marble from China and walk in shower.

The 3rd bedroom off of the living room has it's own separate entrance if desired just off of the garden, jacuzzi area and can be used as an office as well as a bedroom.

Feel like staying in shape? The covered back porch off of the kitchen and laundry room offers a new Gold's Gym treadmill or you might enjoy a run or walk down a back country road and feel like you are in another world where an old Delta town called Vorden used to thrive and passengers would board the Steamships at the landing at Vorden and River Road. In the farming season you never know if you'll be surrounded by corn, alfalpha or tomatoes. Whatever the crop, it's appealing to the sight while enjoying the time outdoors.

When you feel like adventuring out only a mile down river is the famous town of Locke, the oldest Chinese community still in existence, There is a lot to see and do in this little Delta town with museums, art galleries, unique shops, dining and drinking at the famous Al's Place or the Locke Chinese Garden.

Keep going down river another mile or so and enter the town of Walnut Grove, the only town in the Delta with both sides of the River occupied by the town. Great dining options here as well with Tony's Place, Guisti's, Wimpy's, the Ryde Hotel and more. Or venture up river north toward the old Delta town of Freeport for an enjoyable dining experience inside or out at the Freeport Bar and Grill, Grand Island Mansion for Sunday Brunch.

There is also exceptional and unique wine tasting throughout the area in either direction from this home with over 50 wineries within a 20 mile radius. From up river toward Sacramento there is Clarksburg with the Old Sugar Mill wineries, Bogel Winery, Scriber Bend Winery and more or head South to Lodi for the Zinfandel capitol of wineries.

Where ever you end up in the Delta it's going to be a marvelous, unique and memorable experience only to be enhanced by these acommodations.

About Laurel Ross

We are travel agents, travel writers and photographers. We fell in love with the Delta many years ago when we were avid boaters and we know the Delta like the back of our hand. From anywhere in the Delta you can find things to do and come back to the Delta River Grove Cottage to continue your experience.

We love the out doors and this property feels like you are outdoors even when you are inside with all of the windows and beautiful scenery surrounding you. The wild life on the property between all of the different species of birds, cottontail bunnies, squirrels really makes you appreciate the wonders of our area. We love to watch sunrises and sunsets and always enjoy being on the water wherever we are. We love to entertain and this home is the perfect place to do that.

Laurel Ross purchased this house in 2003

Why Laurel Ross chose Central Valley California

We have been enjoying the delta since 1966 and it is a beauy and serenity like no other place on earth. After a sunny fall Sunday drive and spotting a piece of heaven we decided to buy and make it our permanent home. We raised our daughter here and then after she went away to College we decided to live our other dream, the dream of living part time in Mexico. When we aren't there we return to the Delta River Cottage and it's surrounding areas.

What makes this house unique

We enjoy jet skiing and a ski boat, water skiing and wake boarding and not having to haul the boat/toys out of the water at the end of the day, just tying up to our dock. Floating on a raft tied to the dock, sun bathing either on the dock or in the private english secret garden. Fishing off of the dock, watching the sunrises and sunsets. Relaxing in the jacuzzi in the evening. Sitting out by the outdoor fire pit roasting marshmellows with the kids. Going to breakfast at one of the local cafes. Wine tasting throughout the delta and Lodi. Photography and bird watching. Riding the Harley all around the river. Taking a local fishing charter or eco tour of the area. Great history surrounds you with the old towns in the Delta to explore. Close proximity to many great day trips including Lake Tahoe, Sacramento, San Francisco, Lodi or explore Freeport, Isleton, Walnut Grove, Locke, Rio Vista.

Very relaxing property in the farm belt

  • 4 of 5

We have stayed here each of the past three years for a month each time. This is a laid back part of California with little traffic and some interesting towns close by. If you like wine, Lodi is very worth visiting. The beds here are very comfortable. The kitchen is fully stocked and the pool table and bar are big plusses. You are close to Sacramento. If you have a boat or access to one, you have a great dock right on a good part of the Sacramento river. We plan to come again.

My friends and I stayed at this property and let me tell you... It was way beyond what we expected. The property was Spacious, Beautiful back yard, awesome hot tub area, an amazing game room that had a party feel to it. The river was right across the street which made boating and water activities easy as can be. Thank you so much for the great time. I will most definitely be coming back next year.

A breath-taking place to keep everyone entertained

  • 5 of 5

We wanted a place to take a foreign exchange student, our high school grandchildren, our son and his wife for a memorable Easter. This was the perfect place! The dock was perfect for our boat and fishing. Steamboat Slough produced thirty five catch and release fish for the kids and I caught a stripper off the dock. The front yard was used for "catch" football, the hot tub was a favorite hangout, and when it rained, the pool table was the place to be. My wife enjoyed the big screen TV's and king sized beds. You have to see and experience this home to fully understand your luck in making this choice. Everything you need to "walk in and enjoy". Facebook is flooded with pictures and the "likes" keep piling up. We will be booking again!
