Island Home, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps 8, Beachfront Cabana
This recent Nantucket Shingle Style Waterfront Home is located on NARROWS ISLAND in Long Island Sound. The island is part of the archipelago known as the Thimble Islands. It is the only island of the Thimbles with a bridge, making it accessible by car as well as by boat. The property provides 360 degree water views. The home is one of only two residences on this four and a half (4.5) acre island.
The Island is the perfect place for you, your family and your friends to enjoy a vacation with spectacular views and amenities.
Wake to a spectacular sunrise. Dine on the front deck and watch the boats sailing by. Enjoy the hundreds of flowers. Lounge in the large granite beachfront cabana while experiencing the fabulous views of the Thimbles. Explore an uninhabited island or sun, swim, fish or kayak from either of the two(2) private beaches just a step away.
At the end of the day, take in unsurpassed sunsets while soaking in the 7 person private hot tub.
For the boater, there is direct water access from the private floating dock and use of a mooring in the secluded cove.
The central air-conditioned home offers beautiful hardwood floors and stone tiles. It is furnished with nautical antiques and casual elegance. There are three (3) spacious bedrooms; 2 with additional sleeping lofts above. The main bath has a shower and a whirpool tub. The great room has a two-story high ceiling with plenty of room for conversation, TV, music or games and puzzles.
If you can pull yourself away from this island retreat for a time, you may want to cruise the Thimble Islands on a tour boat, visit our local craft breweries or venture into town to the Historic Guilford Green. The green is lined with wonderful boutique shopping, jewelry stores, spa, gourmet coffee, ice cream and chocolate shop, galleries, restaurants, library and classic antique homes. We provide a detailed Guest Directory with local menus and brochures.
If you desire a longer jaunt, then try a short drive to shop the designer outlets of Clinton, visit a local winery, tour the Yale Campus in New Haven, play golf at a local course, hike the grounds of Gillette Castle or visit Mystic Seaport. In the evening you may cruise the Connecticut River from Essex or try your luck at Foxwoods Casino or Mohegan Sun.
Situated in the geographical center of the Northeast, Guilford is just a short ride from New York, Boston, Hartford and Providence using either I-95 or the Shore Line Train. The Island is less than five miles from the train station and conveniently located for travel to major airports: New York - 1 1/2 hours, Hartford - 1 hour, Providence - 1 hour, Boston - 2 hours, and New Haven - 15 minutes.
We have many guests return each year to view the splendor and enjoy the relaxation.

The setting of this home is ideal- private and surrounded by the best that the Connecticut coast has to offer but not too far from grocery stores, etc. The home is well-maintained and the property manager was easy to work with, readily available but not intrusive. The sleeping arrangements were perfect for our family. We came in the winter time, so did not get to enjoy kayaking, etc., but exploring the beach, enjoying the views, and spending time together as a family kept us entertained and hoping to come back soon.
Great Family! Glad they were able to enjoy the Island in the winter and the kids finding sea shells, etc. on the beach. Look forward to having them back.
this was the best ever; perfect weather made swimming in the sound wonderful. We loved the hot tub and the house and views to die for. Except for lots of flies, this was paradise.
Great folks! Glad they enjoyed the beaches, hot tub and spectacular views.
Beautiful, Private, Pet Friendly
We rented this property in August, 2015 with our family and had the best family vacation we can remember. Everything was great and the grounds and house were well maintained. The friendly owner was always reachable if we had a question. During the day we'd enjoy the beaches and water activities. In the evening we'd grill on the deck or at the cabana, watch the sunset and plan our next day. Fabulous place to recharge!
The sunrises and sunsets are spectacular. With 360 degree views you can enjoy them both. Great family and glad they enjoyed a special place.
My wife and I have been going to Narrows Island for the past several years. We live busy lives and always look forward to spending time at this spot. It is a beautiful place that is private, quiet, and relaxing. Great for the two of us (and our dog) and family / friends who stop by to visit. Owner is always very accommodating and friendly. As I sit here and write this, I can't stop thinking about going back next year.
We always try to accomodate our guests. We appreciate that this great couple enjoyed the privacy and relaxation while their dog enjoyed the open space. Thanks for coming to Narrows Island for the last several years and for rebooking early for 2013. And again for 2014!
Spectacular Property, Totally Undiscovered !
My husband and I rented this special place in August, 2011 with our children. In our opinion it is one of the best properties on the Connecticut Shore. The house was immaculate when we arrived and the outside grounds were well maintained. We spent most of the time outside, particularly at the cabana or at the beaches. The house has central air-conditioning though you generally don't need it. Great vacation !
The location is very unique. We are glad that you had a great vacation and enjoyed the house, cabana and the beaches. A terrific family !
Fabulous Family Private Retreat, Friends Too!!
My husband and I with our 2 kids, aged 6 and 8 ,shared this fabulous island with my sister and her husband. The house was very clean and had all the new conveniences. If you need anything, the owner is a quick phone call away and is very helpful. We would Kayak from the beach (there are 2 small beaches) out to an island just offshore with picnic table and chairs. Our children were thrillled to find small crabs, shells and sea glass on the beaches. We chose the property do to it's convenience to our home and had friends with their kids and family come for the day. We spent most of the time in the stone cabana and grilled out some lobsters for dinner. Our friends came by with their boat and took us fishing and touring the Thimble Islands. What a terrific time!!
One of the fun activities for kids is to find shells, small rock crabs, sea glass and an occasional buoy. Nice folks. We are happy that your family and friends had a wonderful time!
