We could not have picked a more peaceful and comfortable place to stay on MDI. The house is spacious and nicely furnished, and the views are absolutely inspiring. It is completely out of the way of the Bar Harbor and Acadia crowds yet within a short drive. The owners are accessable but unintrusive and were a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommended.
We were so happy the owners shared their beautiful home and cove front property with our family. The home was very spacious with an additional game room located in the garage. Our kids LOVED swimming in the cove, catching crabs, and exploring the waterfront. What we really enjoyed was the "quiet side of the island" as a local described Seal Cove. We had the opportunity to visit Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park - just a 30 minute drive away, but what we really liked was returning to our quiet, secluded residence at the end of a busy day. And Peter was a peach to work with. We literally changed our dates of arrival 4 times, and Peter was SO accommodating and pleasant to work with. If you are looking for a great way to discover Maine, Captain's Quarters at Seal Cove is place to stay!
This was a great place to spend the week. Can't say enough about the house, setting, etc. The sunset picture is what we saw daily throughout the week. It was great to spend our time on the quiet side of the island, but have an easy, 20 minute ride into Bar Harbor, and less to Acadia. All the amenities you could possibly want, on the water, huge deck, comfortable and spacious. Highly recommend.
We had a great week on MDI, due in large part to staying at this house. It's on the less populated side of MDI, at the end of a gravel road on a beautiful cove. The house has recently been renovated, it's clean and attractive (not fancy or luxurious) with plenty of room for four guests and enough for 5-6.
The setting of the house and of its large desk is very beautiful. Everything inside is in good shape and easy to figure out.
This Seal Cove home is perfect for families with active kids that love to explore the rocks and water. No worry if it rains since you have foosball, ping pong and air hockey. Bar Harbor was a 15-20 minute drive.
Very quiet setting seeing just a few neighboring homes and some across the cove. Bedrooms were large and master suite had views of harbor and access to deck. All bathrooms were newly renovated as was much of the house!
Peter and his sister were very accomodating and welcoming. Promptly received my deposit back as well. This property and owner come highly recommended. Thanks again Peter.
Located near the end of a private drive on well sheltered Seal Cove, our secluded 20 acres of land also provides plenty of opportunity for outdoor activities We have several hundred feet of private shore frontage with beach, ledges, and tidal pools for hours of exploring. Canoes and kayaks can be launched easily on our beach. Located across the cove is a well maintained public boat launch and dock for larger watercraft. Although you may not want to leave beautiful Seal Cove, you'll want to venture out, as the site-seeing and recreational opportunities abound on Mount Desert Island. We are located less than 10 minutes from the village of Southwest Harbor and about 20 minutes from Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor.and Acadia National Park. There are endless mountains and trails to hike or bike, museums to visit, whale or bird watching, first class shopping and dining to experience, and excellent fresh and salt water fishing. For the golfing enthusiasts, close by in Southwest Harbor is The Causeway Club, a fun and scenic 9 hole course. For a bigger golf challenge, you can play the famous 18-hole Kebo Valley Golf Club in Bar Harbor. After a full day of island adventure, come back to a peaceful setting to prepare fresh seafood for dinner in our well equiped kitchen and enjoy a beautiful sunset while relaxing on our large deck overlooking Seal Cove and Blue Hill Bay.
