My husband and I are both Bristol Community College professors. We have 2 handsome sons and 3 beautiful grandchildren. We purchased this large vacation home in order to accomodate our large family in one place, as we had rented on the Cape several times when our children were young. We chose Falmouth as it is only 45 minutes from our home in New Bedford. We have grown to love Falmouth for all its treasures - great beaches, a wonderful downtown, great restaurants, and plenty of shopping, movie theaters, etc. We always feel a sense of lightness when we cross the Bourne Bridge to spend time at our home. It's a great escape from the day-to-day hectic lives we all lead.
Marlene Pollock purchased this house in 2001
We loved this property from the start! It's spaciousness and privacy sold us immediately. Also, it was well taken care of by the previous owners.
Quietness - you can hear the birds sing. Closeness to several beaches and private beach rights.
The location is very convenient to get to Woods Hole and Falmouth for shopping and restaurants. We also enjoyed the private beach on little island. It was great. This is my first time renting. The house was clean, spacious, and there was plenty of room for everyone. We were 4 adults and 3 teenagers and they all enjoyed it. If we are ever in this area again, I would not hesitate to rent it and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a home in Falmouth.
Had a great week (07/16/16 – 07/23/16) at this wonderful vacation house. We were a group of 8 and found the space very large and accommodating. We ate every meal on the screened in porch, overlooking a wooded lot, and made great use of the game room’s pool and ping pong tables. The private beach was a short walk (through a beautiful neighborhood) and much larger (and nicer) than we anticipated. It was also a quick ride to Old Silver Beach to drop people off (and avoid the parking fee) and the town of Falmouth. Marlene and Dan thought of many little extras that made the house very welcoming. They were also quick to respond to any questions. This is our 5th year renting on the Cape and we would highly recommend this house.
We stayed for the first week in August and had a blast. The house is beautiful, stocked with clean linens, towels, beach towels, and plenty of room for friends to pop in. We were able to bring bikes an death toys and keep them in the clean, attached garage. The house is professionally clean, not "cottage clean" as we have seen other places.
The bike path is great for exercise, or walking to the ice cream shop (kinda ruins the exercise, but the ice cream is great!)
Very safe neighborhood; half mile from the beach. Perfect to ride a bike down in the morning, and come back to the house for lunch and naps. Our twin ten year old boys took all their showers in the private outdoor shower. They loved it and we loved that we didn't get the nice house all sandy.
The beach is private and absolutely beautiful. Great at low tide for little kids, or adults who like collecting hermit crabs.
Thanks for sharing your place- see you next year!
My friends and i rented this property for 9 days there were 6 of us in total. The house was beautiful, well kept and centrally located. You are about 1 hour from Boston , Cape Cod and New Bedford. We had an exciting 9 days did a lot of travelling, site seeing and shopping. I would highly recommend this home to others , we are considering going back in the near future. Marlene the owner was fantastic and very helpful, she answered all our questions and was always very responsive to all out communications. Thanks for a wonderful vacation , it was a blast! We came in to this house a party of 9 and found we had ample space to live in. The rooms are comfortable, the basement is equipped with a pool and ping-pong table, great for kids. The house is well located, minutes from a calm private beach. The surroundings are beautifull and we had nice quiet walks at night in the neigborhood. In a nutshell, we had lots of fun and I recommend this rental twithout any hesitation. Many thanks to Marlene for her help in getting around.
We just returned from a marvelous week in this lovely, comfortable house in W. Falmouth, MA. There was plenty of room for all nine of us, which included myself and my husband, our two sons, their wives and our three young grandchildren. My husband and I occupied the large, first floor bedroom with a king bed and a private bathroom with a walk-in shower stall. Since my husband uses a cane to get around, it was very helpful to have our bedroom suite on the first floor. Our two sons and their wives used two upstairs queen-bedded rooms and our three grandchildren had a wonderful time in the third bedroom, which included two twin beds. The room was so large that our youngest grandson was able to sleep with the other two chidren on an air mattress which was placed on the floor. There was a full bathroom with a bathtub/shower combination on that floor. There was also a third full bathroom in the house for all the upstairs guests to share.
We found ample toys and games for the children to use which supplemented the books we brought from home.
The kitchen was big enough for several people to help in meal preparation. The cabinets were well stocked with enough dishes and cooking equipment for our large family.
We ate every meal on the terrific screened porch and could remain there through the evening, if we wished.
We used the large gas grill located on an open deck next to the screened porch for at least three meals. It worked perfectly everytime.
Our family tried out the three nearby beaches that the owner recommended in her helpful information book.
We made trips to Woods Hole, downtown Falmouth and Martha's Vinyard, which were certainly convenient. We found two ferry docks right in Falmouth to get us to Martha's Vinyard in 45 minutes.
We even found a mini market for many food items within a 5 minute drive. It was extremely well stocked and the owners and employees were so friendly and helpfull that it was a pleasure to shop there.
As you can see from my description, we were all comfortable, but still had our privacy when we wanted it. We all had an exceptionally good time during our stay in this wonderful house in a beautiful neighborhood in Falmouth.
The owner was ever-so helpful with any questions we had during a fabulous week at her lovely home.
You can't beat this home and locale is your looking for a comfortable West Falmouth rental for a large group. We had five adults and two teenagers share this lovely home with ease this summer. The kitchen is terrific for a large group. It's well stocked and easy to work around. The screened-in porch is a real treat for morning coffee and long, evening meals. The bedrooms were comfortable and private, and having three updated, clean full baths was a dream. The neighborhood is a beautiful, residential area with very little traffic and very little noise. It's an easy bike ride or walk on the bike path to the ice cream shop, country mart and harbor docks. There were plenty of towels, games and beach toys to keep everyone happy. I also liked that the house was clutter free and easy to maintain. Thank you, Marlene, for a wonderful stay. We look forward to coming back soon!
Right next door to the Falmouth bike path. Close to downtown Falmouth and nearby restaurants. Within walking distance to 2 beaches and a 5 minute car ride to the 3rd. Two movie theaters in the area.
