Bayside Getaway is your chance to experience the Maine shoreline with close proximity to beautiful Acadia National Park. The home sits on 1.6 acres of land directly on the ocean with views of Blue Hill Mountain and Bartlett's Island. You can enjoy sunsets from our beach. While walking the beach you can see common Maine wildlife like seals, harbor porpoises, osprey, and bald eagles. Both Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are a short drive away. About Amanda

I grew up 5 miles away on the Bayside Road. After travelling all over the US...this is the most beautiful area and we wanted to own a place to bring our children and share this amazing National Park and surrounding areas.

Amanda purchased this house in 2012

What makes this house unique

Unlike many other properties in this area, Bayside Getaway has simply 3 steps down to a flat usable beach. You can walk for miles in either direction. The beach does not have smelly tidal flats. It is also located at the dead- end of a beautiful network of camp roads which are fantastic for peaceful walks or biking. At night, you cannot hear a sound except the lapping of the waves and the stars are amazing! We truly feel we have found the perfect spot...beautiful, peaceful, safe, close to everything, and with a huge view!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Amanda,

We just wanted to thank you and to tell you how happy we were with your lovely home. We had a wonderful week in Maine. I don't think I have ever seen so much beauty all in one place!

Dale and I have rented vacation homes for the past several years in a row, and sometimes we wonder when we arrive, just how old the pictures were that we viewed on the internet. But, your home was perfect! It exceeded our expectations (and the pictures on the internet) and we were so pleased with how clean it was. Thank you again for sharing your little piece of heaven with us.

Best Regards,

Tina & Dale

Amazing family vacation

  • 5 of 5

I almost *don't* want to write a review... Half of me doesn't want others to discover this amazing rental but at the same time, the owners really do deserve the feedback and credit for providing such a great experience. So here we go...

First, the pictures do not do the property justice. Online, it looks like a comfortable and attractive home. In person, it's much more impressive. It's neat, clean, not cluttered, tastefully decorated, has a stocked kitchen, and has a layout that offers both privacy and shared space. A great find! It was an added bonus that the house is 100% toddler-friendly. We had a three-generation family trip and being in a rental home where we knew the toddler couldn't get into too much trouble really allowed us to relax.

The location is perfect. You're close to everything on MDI, but being just off the island lets you feel away from it all. We made multiple trips to Acadia for outdoors fun, as well as a few Bar Harbor visits for the great dining.

The outdoor spaces at the house are great. During the hot, sunny weather, we sat on the "lower deck" and loved exploring the beach. We all enjoyed biking on the camp roads and saw a family of deer one morning. We wish we had our kayaks. The water in the cove is just so calm and inviting. Maybe next year.

A "heads up" for future renters about the area (not the property) - Our family had it in our minds that we'd probably come across a few local farm stands for our produce. There's one farm stand in town and the prices were ridiculous ($2.50 for an ear of corn) and the quality wasn't great. It's worth stocking up at the IGA or driving the extra mile to Hannafords (which does have a selection of local veggies and fruit) or Wal-Mart to cover these needs.

Thank you again to the owners for sharing your wonderful home. Happy vacationing!

Perfect relaxation, lots of adventures!

  • 5 of 5

I spent the week from July 25 to August 1 in this lovely place with my son, daughter in law and 3 children.

The house was very clean, very thoughtfully furnished and equipped with everything you need or can enjoy, i.e. books in every bedroom, toys for the children, all appliances (big BBQ grill on the porch) in a state like new with descriptions. In a folder good advice of places to go and eat, also about the environment, special things to be observed etc. Situated close to Bar Harbour and Acadia National Park in a beautiful bay surrounded by woods for nice walks.

A good place for the whole family, lots of space and adventure for the children, quietness and relaxation for the adults.

We went whale watching, explored Arcadia, played mini golf, enjoyed Bar Harbour and easy going lobster places.

Good advice and good contact to the landlord if help is needed.

If ever again we will be so lucky as to spend another holiday in New England this is the favorite place and house for us.

Perfect Maine getaway location close to Acadia

  • 5 of 5

House is spotless and even better than the pictures. Location is easy drive to Bar Harbor and all parts of Acadia. Best of all worlds-Close access to everything Acadia has to offer, and then retreat to beautiful quiet ocean front access and views away from the crowds. Home has everything you could need, and owners are very responsive.

Enjoyed the beautiful views & proximity to Acadia

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our time with our family here. The lawn was perfect for lawn games with a great view of the bay. The window from the great room just constantly gives you great views of the bay. We also enjoyed being half-hour from Bar Harbor and all the activities of Acadia. But we just enjoyed kayaking the coast line, and going across the bay to the opposite side, but we aware that it is much further than expected: at least 45 minutes of kayaking!

Perfect vacation destination

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 had an amazing week at Bayside Getaway! The minute we turned on the gravel road we knew we would love it and the minute we walked in the house and saw the views we knew we would be coming back next year. The house and property exceeded expectations. Our 2 boys loved playing on the flat lawn and the shore was just beyond which made our daily kayak trips super easy (we saw seals and porpoises on several of our kayak excursions). The beach at low-tide was great for wading and searching for crabs. The house has everything you could need - amazing views, well-equipped kitchen, quiet, comfortable bedrooms and a lower level with games, toys (and a fun little Harry Potter playspace) where the kids can go play when they are not outside. All within 20-30 minutes of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. We are already looking forward to next year!

Quiet, great views, close to everything

  • 5 of 5

We had a great week at this house! Our 10 year old enjoyed walking on the beach and looking for hermit crabs. The view is great, and there was a wonderful afternoon breeze. The place is quiet, at the end of a dirt road, but only 20 - 25 minutes to all of the MDI attractions.
