This modern colonial house has all the comforts of a beach house including an open floor plan, skylights, farmhouse kitchen table, french doors which swing open to four porches. Hence the name, Porch East. Perfect for families who want to spend the summer in the Hamptons, but want to be close to all major roads to get to NYC. No East End traffic!
It's also very close to the North Fork for all your winery tours and summer excursions.
There is a two-person kayak, bicycles, everything you need in a kitchen, stainless steel appliances, hardwood floors, windows everywhere, ceiling fans, central A/C, garage, w/d....everything you need to relax and enjoy a summer in the Hamptons.
Stayed here with my fiancee for a week in early fall, and couldn't have had a better experience. First, the owner was very accommodating when our end date changed slightly. Upon arriving, she greeted us and made sure we knew how everything worked in the house.
The photos really don't do the house justice. It has been incredibly well decorated and has much more space (inside and out) than what it might seem from the photos. We had another couple stay with us for the last weekend, and they had the entire upstairs, including bedroom, bathroom and sitting area to themselves (in addition to another bedroom that had two twin beds and a loft bed and would be great for kids or more guests). In addition to being well decorated, the house feels truly like a "home", equipped with everything you'd want in terms of kitchenware, dining/eating, living... it doesn't feel like a rental (skeleton) house that hasn't been lived in (if that makes sense?).
Location is excellent- just a few blocks from the beach. Great place from which to ride bikes into Southampton or Bridgehampton via Montauk Highway.
Really can't say enough about how great it was. We look forward to coming back next year!
Porch East is a great place to spend a summer week (or two)!!!! Stayed in late August with my family and had a great time. House was clean and comfortable, with enough room for family of 5 (plus grandparents for a few days). Homeowner was great to deal with and met us when we arrived to go through all details of house.
The bay beach is a short walk away and great for the kids as the ocean (10 minute drive) has a pretty big surf, which anyone under 10 may find hard to manage. Fishing, beach, shopping and boating are all close by and very accessible. I would def. recommend this house.
Porch East, as this house is aptly named, is located on the east end of Hampton Bays, the Shinnecock Hills area of the town of Southampton. It is right across the street from Meschutt Beach, a county-owned park that features swimming, camping, the Beach Hut bar and restaurant and beautiful views of the Peconic Bay.
This house is the perfect family vacation beach house if you like to walk to the beach, but be close enough to town. Everything you need is within minutes of Porch. Grocery shopping, LIRR, the ocean, fabulous Hamptons restaurants, the Hamptons exclusive towns and shopping, minutes from the North Fork's bountiful wineries and only 2 hours from NYC are just some the things you will find when you settle into Porch East.
There is also a two-person kayak at the house you can launch at Meschutt and bicycles to ride along the bay.
Why is it called Porch East? Well, the house has 4 porches, for you to sit back and relax and enjoy summer with your family in the Hamptons!
