About Owner/Kim Brooks
We are best friends who met teaching elementary school in Southern California. Both single moms, we dreamed of venturing out and buying some investment property on our own. Heddy and I made a few trips to Hawaii with our kids and fell in love with the North Shore. Heddy's boyfriend ended up moving to the North Shore and Heddy soon followed. She called me on the phone one day and said, 'I found the perfect place, and we're buying it!' 2 months later, this beautiful and unique condo was ours!
Owner/Kim Brooks purchased this Condo in 2004
Why Owner/Kim Brooks chose Haleiwa
We absolutely LOVE this location! I have never been to a more beautiful spot than the North Shore! This location is so quiet and peaceful. The tourists are few and far between. Haleiwa is a quaint little town with great restaurants, shopping, and many water activities! There are dozens of sea turtles to be seen daily. The water is warm, clean, and exhilarating! When my husband and I travel here, we rarely leave Haleiwa Surf, unless we leave in the water on stand-up paddle boards. We sit on the lanai, drink Mai Tai's, and BBQ fresh fish right out on the sand. This is PARADISE!
What makes this Condo unique
Haleiwa Joe's is a very short 7 minute walk from our condo. They have great food and great Mai Tai's! Surf'N'Sea is just beyond Haleiwa Joe's where kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, surfboards, and various other water toys can be rented. At sunset, the sea turtles come to rest just 50 yards from our unit. They are stunning!

Lovely property. You can't beat the location and convenience of the set up.
The apartment is one small flight of steps up with a glorious view on the beach and sea. Best sunset spot ever. Inside it's decked out in Hawaiian resort style tastefully arranged, clean, comfortable and extra well equipped. There is everything you need. Beach chairs, multiple good quality snorkeling equipment, sunscreen, beach towels etc. The beds are very comfortable. In bedroom and the futon in living room. Kitchen has all you need. Wonderful dishes, pots pans, blender even pineapple corer. The place is so cute that you will want to stay in and enjoy views from lanai. The beach is clean and really empty. It's a lovely protected bay. There is a BBQ and benches tables downstairs where you can be social with others. It's a very friendly and easy going atmosphere. I can't praise it enough. One thing: if you like it freezing cold AC it's not. It's pleasingly temperate and fans are perfectly fine. It gets breezes so I was happy to have no AC. Most apartments have no AC so the awful humming is not heard. The place is quiet and couples and family oriented. No loud parties just relaxing in paradise. Go to Waimea Valley farmers market to shop in the most amazing location and you can and add a Costco run on way from airport and enjoy an unforgettable stay. I know we did.
Margaret, thank you for your beautiful response! I am so happy that others find our property as relaxing as I do! It is definitely hard to beat the view from the lanai! I hope you will be able to come back again in the near future! Kim
I recently stayed in this lovely condo for 5 nights with my daughter, and her friend...beautifully located right on the beach. The condo is located walking distance to the charming town of Haleiwa! Fun boutiques and delicious restaurants everywhere! Perfect location for exploring the North Shore! We hope to return someday soon!
Outstanding in every way - you won't go wrong renting this condo from Kim!
Aloha! We recently completed a glorious three-week stay here. We felt at home as soon as we walked in the door. The first thing we noticed (apart from the positive energy and decor) was the fact it looked and smelled so clean. Some places look clean but you find out later they really weren't. There's nothing nicer than moving into a truly clean condo! Everything we needed is in the unit, from cooking utensils to plush towels to feather pillows on the futon and lots of beach chairs in the closet. Furnishings and decor are bright, uplifting and totally in sync with what Hawaii and the North Shore of Oahu are all about. Both the futon in the main room and queen size bed in the bedroom are super-comfy. The lanai has high-end rocking chairs with footstools - we loved relaxing there and enjoying the view after a wonderful day in the sun and surf.
And to top it all off, Kim is a sweetie - warm, responsive and professional. It was clear to us very early in our dealings with her that she had our best interests at heart in helping to ensure our stay was enjoyable.
We have rented many, many vrbo-listed condos and we've enjoyed this one the most. We really didn't want to leave! Can't wait to come back later this year!
Best Oceanfront Condo in Oahu
This is our second trip to Oahu(visited in June 2012) and we decided to go back to this condo as we had a wonderful experience the first time. This time was no different. Hale'iwa is the jewel of the North Shore. The beach is just a few feet from the condo and it is secluded. Rarely over 20 people total at the beach. The adjoining beach is Ali'i Beach where you will see the sea turtles come on shore. Every morning after breakfast we put on our snorkel gear and go out into the water to see all kinds of fish around the reef. More than likely you will see a sea turtle or two. Prefer this place even over Shark's Cove(too many people and reefs to contend with). Each evening we stroll down the beach to the harbor, Rainbow Bridge, or into town. A lot more to see and do on the North Shore. Stay away from Honolulu or Waikiki, except to visit Pearl Harbor or get great deals (on clothing and gifts) at the Aloha Stadium flea market (recommend). The condo itself is very well kept, and they provide snorkeling equipment along with boogie boards. The owners are great and very considerate. Thank you Kim for sharing your condo. There is so much to see and do on the North Shore and right here at the condos. BEST PLACE TO STAY ON THE ISLAND!!!! Mahalo.....
Thank you for your wonderful comments George and Linda! It was wonderful to have your family stay with us again! We hope to host you again in the near future!
Beautiful oceanfront condo!!!
Beautiful condo and location with views from the lanai just as pictured. I booked the condo for my husband's birthday. He LOVED it. We LOVED it. He loved having breakfast on the lanai watching and listening to the surf. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets, a great place for R&R. The condo was very nicely decorated and equipped. A wonderful place to come back to after wondering around the island and visiting friends on the South side of the island. The residents really followed the quiet rule. We had a wonderful time. Kim was easy to work with and we definitely would come back again. Mahalo Kim for sharing your condo!
Thank you so much for your review Barbara! I'm so happy you were able to spend your husband's birthday on the North Shore. I am looking forward to your next visit!
Oceanfront, whales, turtles ALL GOOD!
We had a delightful 5 week Jan-Feb stay in the condo. Morning coffee on the lanai, watching the whales spout on the horizon and turtles surfacing directly offshore was wonderful. Very clean and comfy with fast internet and good tv channels. Nicely equipped for preparing and serving meals. Good supply of towels, beach chairs, snorkel equipment and toys. Could use a drying rack for towels and swim suits. The microwave stopped working and very quickly Kim had a replacement. Condo complex is safe and well taken care of. Haleiwa towne is about a mile walk. Being without a car was a little tricky. We took the bus from Honolulu and got off in downtown Haleiwa without knowing where to pick up the bus to the condo. So we walked the mile dragging our suitcases down the bumpy and uneven sidewalk, not fun on a hot day. Sleeping in the bedroom was fine at night as most residents followed the 10PM-8AM quiet rule. The curtains didn't totally block out the hallway lights, but they are good for safety reasons. It was difficult to sleep in the morning as the rooster asylum across the street started up before 1st light. The bedroom faces the parking lot so you could hear coughing, talking, walking, traffic and the ocassional car alarm. We had a great time and plan to return.
Thank you so much for your review! I am so pleased you had such a great stay! It is amazing what you can see from the lanai. I'm so happy you were able to see the whales spouting, as that is one of our favorite things to watch! As Haleiwa is considered the "country" of Oahu, sometimes those roosters do find their way to our shore! Thank you for letting me know about the curtains as we just purchased those, and they are supposed to block out everything. I will certainly look into that. I hope to see you again in the future!
As far as things to do....there are so many! Something you must try is stand-up paddle boarding. It is a blast! You can walk down to Surf'N'Sea. Just take a credit card, ID, and the bare necessities you are wearing. (They will hold all of your belongings in the store so you don't need to worry about theft) You can rent stand-up boards there. You can take the boards right out behind the store and practice if you have never done it before. It is easier than it looks. If you are feeling like you have the hang of it, you can paddle up the river right under the Rainbow Bridge. It is beautiful back there and there are so many sea turtles swimming everywhere. We like to paddle all the way back to the condo. The reefs along the way are amazing, and there are LOTS of sea turtles in the open water as well! Then, you can play on the boards all day in front of the condo and practice, and then paddle back to Surf'N'Sea! It really is fun! Haleiwa Joe's has the best MaiTai's in town! Their Mai Tai's come along with a souvenir cup. Their food is great! Haleiwa Beach House is good also. Cholo's is a great Mexican place in the Breakers center (near the entrance to town). Haleiwa Cafe is a MUST for breakfast! It looks like a hole in the wall (it actually is), but there is always a line and the food is great. We always walk here for breakfast. (Again, at the entrance to town) Matsumoto's is worth the wait for their shave ice. It is definitely the best in town. Make sure you put a scoop of ice cream at the bottom. Lui Bueno's is a new Mexican/Seafood Restaurant in town. I have yet to be disappointed there! Great food, great tacos! Lani's is a famous beach where sea turtles are always found. It is about a 5 - 7 minute drive from the condo. Just drive along, with the ocean on your left, and it will be the first or second semi-crowded beach on your left. You can tell it is Lani's by the amount of tourists. There are plenty of sea turtles there. Why drive to Lani's and fight your way through the crowds, when you can see PLENTY of sea turtles, right from your own private lanai? Right before sunset, the sea turtles come on the beach to sleep. From the condos, looking towards the water, go to your right, towards Ali'i Beach. You will find lots of sea turtles sleeping. You can't touch them, but they take great pictures! Standing on the lanai, looking to the left, you will see kite surfers, way out at Kaena Point. Look very carefully...you may see gliders also. We love to drive out there (that is always an adventure, because we always forget how to get there!) You can exit the condos to the right. When the road dead ends turn right. I think you will come to a roundabout and stay to the right. You are looking for signs to Dillingham Airfield. If you go past the airfield, you will eventually see an open beach/park/picnic ground on your right. It is fun to pull in here and watch the kite surfers. Then, we always go back to Dillingham and drive through the airport. They used to keep the original plane from 'Lost' in the back there. It seems to me we didn't see it last time, but we always drive through and look. Often you can see parachuters coming down too. Turtle Bay is a great place to visit. They have a wonderful bar right on the ocean, by the pool. They have great bar food until 7:00. The sunset views from here are amazing! Also, the North Shore Shark Tour is so much fun! You can walk to their boat from the condo. They take you out in a shark cage and you see some type of shark out there (not the kind that eat people). When we went, there had just been a huge storm and a dead cow had been washed out to sea. The people tied the cow to our boat and Tiger Sharks were there within minutes! We saw 4 of them, huge, all pecking and eating this cow. It was amazing. I have never been so scared in my life! Anyway, it is a fun experience. Waimea Bay is a beautiful place to spend a morning. It gets SUPER crowded by 10:00, so go early to find a parking spot. Don't bring anything valuable because there is a lot of theft there. It's close enough to the condo where you could just bring a towel and water bottle and go home before you need money to eat or whatever. Right behind Waimea is the falls area where you can do some light hiking. Three Tables and Shark's Cove is also just past Waimea. More great snorkeling! In all honesty, my favorite thing to do is hang out at the condo because it is so beautiful. The beach here is perfect, and there is great snorkeling too! CALENDAR IS NOT ACTIVE!
