I am a single mum in my 50's who also lives on a houseboat just down the canal. I can truly say that staying on a houseboat is a whole lot of experience! i would not want to live anywhere else anymore!
Patricia van der Kamp purchased this house boat in 2009
This houseboat is situated in this unique part of Amsterdam. It is in the historical part, where you sometimes feel like living in a17th century picture. Even though it is the centre of Amsterdam it also feels like an old fishing village with the old wharehouses from 1700
Staying on a houseboat gives you a feeling of freedom and the contact with the water with all it's inhabitants makes it a unique experience
We have just returned from a wonderful trip to Amsterdam and were so pleased we booked this great houseboat. Far more interesting and comfortable than staying in a hotel! The location is amazing and perfect for exploring the wonderful streets and canals. We hired bikes for the whole trip and loved exploring the city and suburbs on them. Local shops and restaurants are great and you will be spoilt for choice. Patricia and Paul were really helpful and we were met at the boat by the lovey Diana - who showed us around and made us feel very welcome. Lovely to find tea, coffee, milk, biscuits, wine and beers left for us! The boat is very well equipped and a very comfortable base to relax after a busy day enjoying everything stunning Amsterdam has to offer. We will certainly be back and have already recommended the Houseboat to our friends. Thank you for a lovely trip. Fran, UK.
LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION! This is the most popular area of Amsterdam, the famous 'JORDAAN'. Here you will find many quaint shops, restaurants, cafes and outdoor terrasses. Also the famous twice-weekly antique- and farmers market is just around the corner. You will also find most points of interest within walking distance,to mention a few: Ann Franck House, the Nine Streets, Damsquare and the railway station is just 10 minutes away. This is the old part of Amsterdam, the 'canal belt' where there is a lot of people boating and enjoying the view from the water towards the old townhouses along the canals. You will find yourself in a 17/18th century picture looking at the beautifull old buildings and stolling along the canals. The Wester Culturepark is just a 10 minutes walk where you can enjoy, dining, movies, dancing or laying in the gras on a sunny day This is really the place to be and the best Amsterdam has to offer!! All in all, this is the best LOCATION!! LOCATION!! LOCATION!
