Lovely home just steps from open ocean with spectacular views

Bedrooms 3
Half Baths1
Space 1,430 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 7 nights

About the property

2 bedrooms, loft, 1 full bathroom, 1 half bathroom, sleeps 6

This lovely home we call Stonehaven is serene, secluded, scenic, sunny, spacious and situated on a one acre wooded lot - only steps away from the shoreline. As you walk in, you will be greeted by the spectacular ocean view. On the first floor there is a master bedroom with a king size bed and a petite / private room with a twin bed.

Walk into the living area and there is a cathedral ceiling with windows from top to bottom and a futon that comfortably sleeps one. Go upstairs to the spacious loft with two twin beds, one with a pull out twin bed. There’s plenty of room to sit and watch a movie. During high tide, look out to the ocean and you will feel as if you are on a cruise liner…. without the sway of course.

Acadia National Park's Schoodic Point offers hiking/biking trails, kayaking, and magnificent scenery; quaint villages, shops, studio galleries, restaurants, yacht club, golf course, and working lobster harbors, whale watching, cruises and lobster & clam bakes; all along quiet byways of the Peninsula. Home to the world-renowned Schoodic Arts Festival, International Sculpture Symposium, and Hammond Hall performing arts center. There’s even a ferry to Bar Harbor (when you are there please say Bah Hahbah otherwise people will think you’re from the South) if you feel you must leave the peace of Schoodic.

A piece of heaven!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful vacation at Stonehaven. We wished we didn't have to leave and felt beyond grateful to experience this beautiful corner of the world. The location is absolutely amazing - we couldn't believe how close we were to the ocean. We enjoyed coffee each morning hearing the waves crash against the rocks and smelling the ocean air from the deck. The views of the ocean from the living room were spectacular. Stonehaven is a short drive to Schoodic Point (the quieter and less crowded side of Acadia) and we enjoyed packing picnics to watch the big waves there during lunch. We loved the hiking at Little Moose Island during low tide and found great hiking trails nearby at Acadia Park. The home is so well taken care of and loved. For us, Stonehaven was a little of piece of heaven and Prospect Harbor felt like one of Maine’s best kept secrets that we were lucky to experience. The home has all of the amenities we needed and we wished we had even more time there to enjoy them all (bikes, pancake skillets, lobster pots, campfire and s'more sticks). Beautiful home -- a great value. So peaceful and rejuvenating -- we hope to visit again next year.

We had a great week!

  • 5 of 5

It was lovely to wake up to the sounds of surf every day. There was plenty of room for everyone and the kitchen was well stocked- even found a lemon zester and a lettuce spinner! Very much enjoyed sitting on the deck with a book, and the dog was thrilled to be with his humans. Great views, and the neighbor was super helpful. Couldn't quite find the compost pile, though. Would have used it if I did. Thanks, Tom!

Lovely Cottage on the Bay

  • 5 of 5

My family of five visited Maine for the first time and it was made special with this cottage on the Bay. The cottage had a great location and all of the amenities needed to steam lobsters. I had a great time with the family and would come back to this cottage if I visit Maine again.

The Most Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

We had been seeing purple and pink lupines along the highway on our drive up from CT-imagine our delight on finding a garden of them behind the house along with a breathtaking ocean view. It was such a welcoming sight. We had never been to Maine and are thrilled we stayed on the quieter side of Acadia near the Schoodic area. The house is very well appointed and comfortable with everything you could ever need---even band aids! Tom was a terrific host, answered our many questions promptly and thoughtfully, even emailing a welcome booklet to help us get a sense of the area. We loved everything about the house, the view and location can not be beat.

Tranquil spot with amazing views in beautiful home

  • 5 of 5

We loved "Stonehaven". In fact, the only negative thing I can write is that we wished we had time for a longer stay. The location on the Schoodic Peninsula is tranquil but close to lovely hikes and bike trails in Acadia NP. The house is in immaculate condition with comfortable beds and common areas. We were two couples and a baby and the layout (with a mezzanine bedroom and two bedrooms downstairs) was perfect. The kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans and basic grocery items. The views are second to none and we very much enjoyed sitting on the rocks near the fire pit enjoying a glass of wine in the evening. Communication with host, Tom, was very easy and his suggestions excellent. Highly recommended - we would stay again without hesitation.

Little oasis by the sea - Fantastic location, clean, relaxing and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We’ve been coming to Downeast for many years and this is by far the best rental we’ve encountered --- it’s really close to the shore, very clean, private and has all the amenities if you are inclined to cook your meals. Tom wasn’t kidding when he said the property is only steps from the shore --- during high tide the views from the porch are dramatic and from the inside you have the feeling you are on a cruise ship. Tom was quick to answer all of our questions and provided detailed information on the area. The house is only 10 minutes away from the Visitor’s Center for Schoodic Peninsula --- part of Acadia National Park. We plan to return in the fall and highly recommend this property. Great location and fantastic value!
