Lovely home just steps from open ocean with spectacular views

Bedrooms 3
Half Baths1
Space 1,430 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 7 nights

About the property

2 bedrooms, loft, 1 full bathroom, 1 half bathroom, sleeps 6

This lovely home we call Stonehaven is serene, secluded, scenic, sunny, spacious and situated on a one acre wooded lot - only steps away from the shoreline. As you walk in, you will be greeted by the spectacular ocean view. On the first floor there is a master bedroom with a king size bed and a petite / private room with a twin bed.

Walk into the living area and there is a cathedral ceiling with windows from top to bottom and a futon that comfortably sleeps one. Go upstairs to the spacious loft with two twin beds, one with a pull out twin bed. There’s plenty of room to sit and watch a movie. During high tide, look out to the ocean and you will feel as if you are on a cruise liner…. without the sway of course.

Discover the beauty of Maine in this quiet community!

Acadia National Park's Schoodic Point offers hiking/biking trails, kayaking, and magnificent scenery; quaint villages, shops, studio galleries, restaurants, yacht club, golf course, and working lobster harbors, whale watching, cruises and lobster & clam bakes; all along quiet byways of the Peninsula. Home to the world-renowned Schoodic Arts Festival, International Sculpture Symposium, and Hammond Hall performing arts center. There’s even a ferry to Bar Harbor (when you are there please say Bah Hahbah otherwise people will think you’re from the South) if you feel you must leave the peace of Schoodic.

Find out about the festivals, farmer's markets and community activities at the Schoodic Chamber of Commerce. Visit their website.

We recommend you go to the Schoodic Acadia Magic website and move the cursor over an area, click and you will be led to a site that explains that area in detail. It’s a great site to learn and discover all there is to do on the peninsula.

Marvelous place!

  • 5 of 5

This house is so quiet, so peaceful, so filled with light, and very, very comfortable. The owner couldn't have been nicer; he was a pleasure to deal with. Definitely want to go back -- and spend longer next time.

A great return trip to Schoodic

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I have vacationed in this area of the Schoodic peninsula multiple times as this is our favorite place on earth! This is the 3rd home we have rented and agreed that the view and location was the best yet. Every morning was spent either on the deck or in the living room drinking coffee and watching the amazing sunrises and in the evenings , we savored the last lingering light of day while we anticipated when we would see the light at Petit Manan lighthouse first begin to flash. Not enough can be said about how relaxing and restoring this piece of heaven is.

The home is open and light, clean and well supplied with all your needs. We prepared alot of our own meals just so that we didn't have to leave each day! Tom provided us with the most complete info that we have ever received in advance to prepare us for our stay . As we were familiar with the area, we did not require it as much, but to a first time visitor to Maine or Schoodic , it would be invaluable. We especially enjoyed the guide to pronounciations! Having lived in the mid coast area of Maine ( moved from the midwest), we could have used that when we first arrived!

We hope to return again and highly recommend this property. Thanks Tom and Anna

Quite, relaxing getaway

  • 5 of 5

If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing Maine getaway I would highly recommend Stonehaven. The place was exactly as expected and well-maintained. The property sits right on the ocean, so close that you can fall asleep to the waves crashing against the rocks and wake up to the lobster boats checking their traps. It’s only a few miles away to the Schoodic Point portion of Acadia where you can enjoy the same picturesque views in Acadia while avoiding the crowds that flock to Mt. Desert Island and Bar Harbor. If you are not too picky, there is a 9 hole golf course about 10 minutes away (Grindstone) that we played twice and had the place to ourselves on both days. There are about 150 people selling lobsters in a 3 mile radius and there is a large lobsterpot in the garage that makes cooking easy. The Pickled Wrinkle is a great option for dinner out. We also had a nice breakfast at J.M. Gerrish and would recommend that as well! Enjoy!

Peaceful, relaxing, clean and comfortable.

  • 5 of 5

We were lulled to sleep each night by the crashing of the waves. The bed and pillows in the master bedroom were very comfortable and we slept well! We purchased delicious lobster right around the corner and the kitchen was well equipped for lobster cooking and eating. Great hiking nearby including easy access to Acadia. The view from the deck and waterfront were beautiful!

Beautiful, relaxing and private - great experience!

  • 5 of 5

Stonehaven is a lovely home in a quiet, picturesque spot with easy access to all the things to do in the area - Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, Campobello, and more! Tom was easy to work with, extremely responsive and helpful in answering any and all questions - he made it easy to plan our fantastic, stress free vacation. When we arrived we loved how cozy and private the home is, the water views and the helpful and friendly neighbors. Our trip could not have worked out better, and we left refreshed and recharged. Thanks Tom for the chance to stay in your lovely home!

Peace and Tranquility in DownEast Maine

  • 5 of 5

My wife, our three kids, and I stayed at StoneHaven the last week of June 2017. We were looking for a break from our hot and humid Florida summer. I had never been to Maine before, but this property was exactly what I was looking and hoping for. The Schoodic peninsula has all of the beauty of coastal Maine but none of the crowds we saw in Bar Harbor when we visited. The view and sound of the crashing surf from the balcony was incredible relaxing. While we did a little bit of tourist travel in the area, we were mostly interested in the natural beauty of that part of our country and this rental really delivered. The home was more than enough room for our family. The interior / décor / furnishings are not super-modern and luxurious but we found it clean comfortable and charming. We lived in Europe for a few years and appreciated some of the little touches around the house we recognized from our time traveling around the continent. The Schoodic area has less tourist activities & restaurants than Mount Desert Island where Bar Harbor is but we enjoyed just picking up lobsters from the nearby roadside stands and cooking them ourselves and enjoying them with wine on the balcony in the evening. There was also a farmer's market in nearby Winter Harbor perfect for stocking up on tasty veggies, bread, and cheese. As Tom the owner will tell you, the shore at the house and nearby is not really suitable for swimming due to the super cold water and dangerous rocks. We did however spend some time kayaking which was a lot of fun. If you bring small children I would not leave them unattended near the water. I would recommend this rental to my family and friends and if we get the chance to return to Maine it will be our first choice.
