Gouldsboro House Rental Photos and Description

2 bedrooms, loft, 1 full bathroom, 1 half bathroom, sleeps 6

This lovely home we call Stonehaven is serene, secluded, scenic, sunny, spacious and situated on a one acre wooded lot - only steps away from the shoreline. As you walk in, you will be greeted by the spectacular ocean view. On the first floor there is a master bedroom with a king size bed and a petite / private room with a twin bed.

Walk into the living area and there is a cathedral ceiling with windows from top to bottom and a futon that comfortably sleeps one. Go upstairs to the spacious loft with two twin beds, one with a pull out twin bed. There’s plenty of room to sit and watch a movie. During high tide, look out to the ocean and you will feel as if you are on a cruise liner…. without the sway of course.

Discover the beauty of Maine in this quiet community!

Acadia National Park's Schoodic Point offers hiking/biking trails, kayaking, and magnificent scenery; quaint villages, shops, studio galleries, restaurants, yacht club, golf course, and working lobster harbors, whale watching, cruises and lobster & clam bakes; all along quiet byways of the Peninsula. Home to the world-renowned Schoodic Arts Festival, International Sculpture Symposium, and Hammond Hall performing arts center. There’s even a ferry to Bar Harbor (when you are there please say Bah Hahbah otherwise people will think you’re from the South) if you feel you must leave the peace of Schoodic.

Discover the beauty of Maine in this quiet community!

Find out about the festivals, farmer's markets and community activities at the Schoodic Chamber of Commerce. Visit their website.

We recommend you go to the Schoodic Acadia Magic website and move the cursor over an area, click and you will be led to a site that explains that area in detail. It’s a great site to learn and discover all there is to do on the peninsula.

Peace and Tranquility in DownEast Maine

  • 5 of 5

My wife, our three kids, and I stayed at StoneHaven the last week of June 2017. We were looking for a break from our hot and humid Florida summer. I had never been to Maine before, but this property was exactly what I was looking and hoping for. The Schoodic peninsula has all of the beauty of coastal Maine but none of the crowds we saw in Bar Harbor when we visited. The view and sound of the crashing surf from the balcony was incredible relaxing. While we did a little bit of tourist travel in the area, we were mostly interested in the natural beauty of that part of our country and this rental really delivered. The home was more than enough room for our family. The interior / décor / furnishings are not super-modern and luxurious but we found it clean comfortable and charming. We lived in Europe for a few years and appreciated some of the little touches around the house we recognized from our time traveling around the continent. The Schoodic area has less tourist activities & restaurants than Mount Desert Island where Bar Harbor is but we enjoyed just picking up lobsters from the nearby roadside stands and cooking them ourselves and enjoying them with wine on the balcony in the evening. There was also a farmer's market in nearby Winter Harbor perfect for stocking up on tasty veggies, bread, and cheese. As Tom the owner will tell you, the shore at the house and nearby is not really suitable for swimming due to the super cold water and dangerous rocks. We did however spend some time kayaking which was a lot of fun. If you bring small children I would not leave them unattended near the water. I would recommend this rental to my family and friends and if we get the chance to return to Maine it will be our first choice.

Beautiful house and location, very relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at the house and it was a great experience. It is a very quiet and picturesque spot and the house had everything we needed for our family of six. The Schoodic Peninsula part of Acadia National Park is less than 10 minutes drive and is really beautiful. The main part of the park and Bar Harbor is closer to an hour away by car. We enjoyed exploring the area and meeting many friendly locals. The ice cream shop nearby was cheap and popular with the family. We would recommend this house to other families. We greatly appreciated Tom's super helpful approach.

Exceeded ALL Expectations!!! Amazing Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were first time VRBO users. Naturally we were a bit hesitant. Luckily, Tom was more than willing to walk us through the process with patience and ease. We loved his quick communication and how thoughtful he was in preparing his home with modern luxuries, unique decor, and detailed guides to points of interest. His family home is beautiful and picturesque. It was everything we wanted. Beautiful views (via his panoramic windows) of the tides and lobster boats. We loved being close enough to visit Bar Harbor and yet away from all the touristy hubbub. We truly felt like locals and enjoyed coming "home" to this idyllic retreat after a long day of hiking, relaxing at the beach or shopping. We suggest the ferry ride from Winter Harbor to Bar Harbor on Sunday so you can visit BH's Farmer's Market @ the local YMCA. We were able to stock up on some tasty treats for the week.

We hope to return soon! A big thank you to Bill (next door neighbor/caretaker) for his kindness and to Tom and his family for opening their home to all. Don't wait, and book this place before someone else does. You'll be sorry if you miss out!

Wow, what a fabulous rental!

  • 5 of 5

Our grandsons' first impression was "we are SO close to the water!! Hours were spent searching for shells and rocks as well as using the telescope to view the seals on a near-by rock outcrop and enjoying the night sky. So pleased to find this outstanding vacation home, so beautifully decorated, spotless and well cared for. This was in the perfect location ( no traffic noise). Yet, close to the ferry to Bar Harbor for an afternoon of sailing. Very near to Schoodic Peninsula where we enjoyed hiking on Little Moose Island and up to Schoodic Head. We did travel 1 1/2 hours to Campobello Island for a very enjoyable day. Good food choices nearby at J.M. Gerrish, Pickled Wrinkle - with music, homemade donuts at Chase's and on Rt.1 - Tracey's lobster rolls. Fresh lobster for home cooking at D C Air & Seafood . The customer service provided by the owner and his neighbor was excellent. Very prompt responses to questions. Thank you so much ! We had a wonderful vacation with our two teenage grandsons! We have already recommended this rental to family and friends.

Outstanding home and view.

  • 5 of 5

The listing description of this house and property was accurate but it would be difficult to accurately describe the beautiful view. Watching the tides come and go was extremely relaxing. Enjoyed steaming lobster several times through the week with a great lobster cooking setup. Picnics on Schoodic Point were wonderful. Drove to Campobello for a day trip (1.5 hrs). Well worth the drive. Would definitely recommend this rental to anybody who desires privacy but not isolation.

Our Perfect "Maine Vacation" Spot

  • 5 of 5

Spent two weeks with our family of six.

This is a really nice vacation rental, outstanding oceanfront view. Watch lobster boats just offshore. Fire-pit on beach. Tremendous view from deck, living room, &dining room. Well equipped kitchen, clean & well maintained throughout. Bikes available in garage. The owner was very helpful in pointing out local attractions including where to pick wild blueberries, where to find a sand beach, etc. Easy drives to Schoodic Point (15 minutes), and Acadia National Park/ Bar Harbor (1 hour). We liked being out of the tourist hub-bub, but nearby for day trips up and down the coast. And after doing a fairly extensive search for vacation rentals in Maine, I would also say that this rental is an outstanding value.

This was our perfect "Maine Vacation" spot. We came in August 2012. (The DOA included above is incorrect). We are from Wisconsin (24 hours by car) so we won't be returning soon; but we sent friends in July/August 2013 and they loved it too. And I have recommended it to other friends who are considering coming in 2014.

Larger groups can be accommodated in additional accommodations next door. (talk to the owner for details).

We took lots of pictures, but most of all I retained a lot of mental pictures and memories.
