Fantastic Girls Weekend

  • 5 of 5

Lovely Home, Clean, beautiful, plenty of parking and privacy. Fully Equiped with anything you could possibly need or want (even the weather was perfect!). Incredible views and a picture perfect private beach to watch the sunset or have a campfire. Spent a fabulous long weekend with 4 friends. Fresh Lobster for cooking around the corner and everthing provided in the house to cook and eat it! We had dinner at the stone house (another fantastic experience!)...George (Bluff house manager) and Phil (Owner) were perfect hosts providing us with all of the "things to do" in the area and offering their support if we needed anything (we serioulsy needed nothing - it was all there!). I really can not say enough about this amazing property! Great Great Experience!! See you next year! Thank you so much!!!!

One of our worst stays

  • 1 of 5

I really should have left this review immediately after our stay. Perhaps then we may have spared other people the same disappointments we had. The pictures make the house look amazing and we were so disappointed once we arrived. We thought we had entered the wrong place. There were trash bags still littered around the kitchen and their pizza boxes. We called the owner and he said that he hadn't finished cleaning and that we could just throw the trash out although this was long after our check in time. The house was so disgusting we needed to clean it before we could put our groceries in the refrigerator. It was filled with mold and mildew and smelled horrific. We also removed the rugs and vacuumed the entire house. We also went to a local pharmacy to purchase cleaning supplies and

bed sheets as we could not sleep on the sheets that have been provided the bathrooms were disgusting previous toothbrushes toothpaste and soap were left out. As mentioned the beach was not private and there was broken furnishings and trash everywhere. On the bright side we love the area so much that A year and a half later we actually bought our own place on the ocean and thoroughly enjoyed being there don't let this place deter you from the beautiful community.

Owner's Response: The most ironic aspect to this review is that the home is fully rented, to repeat travelers, with both taking entire month long tenancies: July & August 2015. This duration of monthly rental is generally unheard of anymore in summer rentals, with limited vacation time, family pressures, financial considerations, etc., except for traditional areas like southern Little Compton / Sakonnet Point and those homes enjoyed mostly by those with true wealth, style and class. These reviewing renters were at our place for a week in June (early summer season), arrived with many more people than were to be allowed and tried to extort another week from us with threat of a bad review (didn't happen and if it was so bad why want to stay another week? Answer great house!) - they are the type of people who dump their car cigarette ashtrays in the parking lot of Walmart after loading up on over sized jars of cheap mayonnaise, pounds of pork shoulder and candy corn. If you knew the town in Rhode Island they came from and live in you would wonder, as I did later, why we even allowed them to be there in the first place. As to their loving the area and subsequently purchasing an oceanfront home - please... There have been no sales of such a property in Little Compton in a few years and certainly these hill dwellers would never get close to the same. In the old days no one, whether broker or owner, would deal with these type of people and I learned a good lesson about what treating people fairly and giving them a chance at a good opportunity can come to. Note and learned lesson: Trust your instincts, firmly use the method our leaders say TSA and Homeland Security shouldn't do - but does, use good judgement in the face of obvious situations and always be prepared to call an audible. Really don't have time to go on here, but needed to answer this review and defend our fine property in a way that might be helpful to travelers. Remember we are happily booked year after year, now with top end monthly tenants. And, though we don't like to say it, our preferred people have mostly been from south of not north of Little Compton, RI. Now with this property offering & the expansive exposure by, we have been forced into defending of our fine unique location and Town from the hoi polloi and will continue to do so with renewed vigor. That being said, see for yourself - call or email us to discuss your interest in a fine, fun, carefree oceanfront vacation.

Old, tired and dirty

  • 2 of 5

Everything about the house and photos is misleading. The house is tired and in need of updating/repair--for example: the place should have a great view but the windows are dirty and dingy and on many the seals have been broken so condensation blocks the view. The grounds are not maintained which is a shame as a nice backyard is a possibility with a bit of care. The beachfront was littered with all types of debris from broken beach chairs to trash. The house was not only not clean upon on arrival but full of cobwebs and bugs - we spent 3 days of our vacation cleaning just to make it livable. The rugs were so dirty and smelly we had to remove them altogether. I won't even mention the bathrooms, the refrigerator. or the leaky dishwasher. The owner and property manager were not only unresponsive to our complaints, but simply did not care that the place was an absolute mess This is NOT worth the money - a lot of money and not a lot of value.

Owner's Response: Kindly read our response to the other negative review (below). It is basically the same situation here: bad people from bad circumstances and poorly raised. We have been renting this home with our own leads and enterprise for years, with much success and to nice people: well bred, quality families, who are often people with local connections to other longtime Little Compton home and estate owners. We now use for leads, to fill in any gaps experienced during (recent) economic downturns, to keep up with the times and to have a good presence online. is an effective business model, for's profitability and for many client property owners. One just has to be very careful about to whom one rents the property. Casting an extremely wide 'net' with comes with new concerns, challenges and responsibilities. Ultimately it is up to the property owner to properly vet and decide on potential tenants. We have now sharpened our focus with added scrutiny and review of potential tenants. That said, we are most pleased to have a wonderful set (two families with local connections - both staying for a month each) of repeating tenants lined up for this summer, with little to worry about and good times ahead. Welcome haute monde and patriciate - we can't wait to see you this summer!
