My family and I enjoyed this property very much!

  • 5 of 5

Property is in a great location-quiet with beautiful views of the canal in front and hear birds each morning from the back patio. House has plenty space to share time with each other in common areas or have alone time in your rooms. Property was lovely-well decorated, beds were comfortable, plenty of hot water, and all of us had bathroom space to get ready each morning. ( Five women in my group) Location is perfect-not in the center of all the touristy arena; but an easy walk from the heart of it all. I would use this property again!

Perfect apartment for a family of seven.

  • 5 of 5

Location was quiet but walkable to most locations. The bedrooms were privately situated. Check in and check out was easy. Would love to stay in this apartment again.

Lovely apartment, great location

  • 4 of 5

Richard is a very good host, being responsive and answering our questions. The apt is in a great location, within 10-15 min walking distance of the center, which made for a quiet, perfect stay. Public transportation is within reach with the metro and trams just a few blocks away, but we ended up happily walking everywhere. We loved waking up and going to Bagels & Beans to watch the families take their kids to school on bikes, or just sit on the bench outside the apt and soak in life in Amsterdam. Our stay was memorable, fun--we all fell in love with Amsterdam.

Note: at the time we stayed, the apt was in the middle of a couple of small house renovations. Richard helped us through some questions (how to turn on the lights without caps on the lightswitches) and please forgive some of the funny moments you might have with the front door knob coming off or not being able to figure out dutch dryers! Trust me, it's still very worth it to stay here... all five of us loved the place and its location, and we were so sad to leave.

Living like a local :) ....

  • 3 of 5

First I want to make it clear that all bed bugs are gone!!! Richard was very forthcoming and proactive about the situation and that's why we decided to keep our reservation. Having said that we were nervous right up until we had our first sleep, lol. Not only were there no signs of bed bugs, we had one of the best sleeps because the beds were so comfortable.

There was a mix up in us getting in, due to this we waited unnecessarily outside in the cold for a long time. We new Richard was out of country but his replacement didn't answer the phone and the cleaner wasn't there to give us keys. In the end it was Richard who responded and helped us, yay! My feedback on this is it could've all been avoided if more info was shared prior to arrival, namely the lock box. A note to all vrbo owners, please be more accommodating to early arrival requests, guests sometimes arrive after many hours of travel and this little thing can change their whole trip. After 36 hours of traveling with little sleep an early check would've been amazing.

The space has a very interesting layout, well decorated but does need some love. The kitchen light never worked and the railing over looking the kitchen was wobbly. However, it was a very welcoming space, clean, organized, spacious and allowed us to feel like we were living in Amsterdam. The kitchen in the pictures in not the kitchen in this particular apartment we were in but it was fully equipped and an efficient space.

I've used vrbo many times and usually there is a manual in the property that talks about rules but also gives you heads up on quirky things about the space, info on local grocery stores, opening times, best restaurants etc. There was 1 laminated page with a few details like wifi password, garbage instruction, keep quiet for neighbors, etc. Richard was very available to answer our questions and responded quickly, this was great but not needed if there was more info available at the property. Note: we were quiet but the neighbors weren't, balconies are very close to the bedrooms. Didn't happen often but notable.

The location couldn't have been better I think, you are about 15mins away from Amsterdam Central and 30 mins from Anne Frank to give a range. Two grocery stores near by, the closest one was closed while we were there but is now back up and running. The apt and area felt safe.

Overall a good experience and I would stay there again. The good by far outweighed the opportunities!

Great house in a great location

  • 5 of 5

Our group of (6) had a wonderful time staying at this property for 5 days. The owner communicated all of the information we needed ahead of time and checking in was quick and easy. The house is very spacious and has lovely interior decorating. The location couldn't have been better, as it was a quick walk to many shops/restaurants/bars/cafes and only a couple of blocks to the train. Highly recommended if you need a great place to stay with a larger group!

Owner's Response: So right after this guest checked out we indeed found bed-bugs in the apartment. We immediately took action and replaced all the beds and Rentokil came directly to exterminate the little bastards and we have not found one since! Of course this has been a nightmare. I wish this unfortunate guest would have contacted me during his stay (which he DID NOT) because I would have taken immediate action and offered him another accommodation and a full refund of course. We find it highly important to give our guests a fantastic experience and I think our other reviews prove this review has two sides to it. We don't know where this creatures came from all of a sudden but we are certain that there weren't any before. I hereby guarantee all my future travelers a bed-bug-free experience in this beautiful canal view apartment!
