North Park is the most popular and hippest of San Diego's urban villages because it has a wonderful eclectic mix of great restaurants, cafes, pubs, micro breweries, shops, fitness, galleries, and music venues and also borders Balboa Park. This gorgeous Spanish home, built in 1925, is perfectly located for walking all about North Park. The home is full of California Craftsman Bungalow features such as moldings, cove ceilings, large wood windows and beautiful original maple wood floors. There is a great big, fully fenced yard for playing, grilling, dining and lounging under a wonderful shade tree. Off-street parking for 2-3 cars. Beautiful artwork and comfortable furnishings throughout the home. The space is bright, open and invites a zen-like relaxation. Fully modernized with central AC, washer/dryer, fully equipped kitchen, two full baths.
Three bedrooms offer comfortable sleeping in queen and full size beds. Additional sleeping on the large sectional in the living room or a full size air mattress we can provide enables this home to accommodate 8 without a fuss. We also have Pack 'n Play for families with babies.
You won't want to leave the property, but so much of San Diego is within a walk or short drive from this wonderful central location!
Walk to hip restaurants, cafes, wine bars, brewery, shops and fitness centers in North Park, a lively, fun community. Take a 5 minute walk to Balboa Park's Morley Field -- hiking and running trails, community pool, tennis, golf, athletic complex, picnic areas, bike track, bocci court, tiny tots play area, and more. A bit farther into the park are the zoo and museums -- still walking distance or a short ride. You will be 5-10 minutes from downtown hot spots -- Gaslamp, Seaport Village, Little Italy, Convention Center. Only 10 minutes to Coronado Island, a world class destination with beautiful, expansive white sand beaches. Seaworld is about 15 minutes via nearby highway.
I moved to San Diego when I was 20 years old and in the first months of being here, I called my mother and told her that I would live here for the rest of my life. 30 years later, this seems to be coming true. I love to hike, bike, swim in the ocean, play with my dogs, and enjoy great food and wine.
Gail Feldman purchased this house in 2004
I decided to vacation rental this home because I now live with my spouse in a nearby community. I didn't want to rent it completely, so I thought this would be a good alternative. I love to travel myself and often wish I had a home away from home, just like mine. I thought I would offer it to others.
I moved to North Park in San Diego because of the central location to the urban excitement of San Diego without the congestion of condos and apartments. I wanted to be able to walk and bike to Balboa Park! I wanted to walk around the corner to a coffee shop or a café or the gym and enjoy not driving!
Lovely, well-located, clean home for family stay in Altadena/North Park neighborhood. Compact yet spacious, including large yard and plenty of parking on driveway and street. Quiet residential street in walking distance to cafes, restaurants, Balboa Park tennis courts, and even a micro-brewery around the corner. Perfect for us and our three (adult) children.
This competitively-priced and neatly landscaped property, located in a quiet neighborhood, is in a central location for easy access to many city attractions; it is within a short drive to/from the airport, a short walk of a micro-brewery, and a long walk to many North Park restaurants.
The property manager texted us prior to our arrival and helped us navigate getting the house keys from the box looped around the front door.
Some recommended improvements include the following:
- Instructions on how to use the gas fireplace in the living room
- Tips on how to turn on the lights above the fireplace
- Nighttime lighting by the steps on the left side of the front porch to prevent a tripping hazard for newcomers
- A ceiling light within the eating area next to the kitchen (there was a capped electrical source above the area but no light)
- Updates to plumbing and bathroom fixtures, including tub caulking
- Manual deadbolt lock to the backyard from the kitchen, instead of a keyed deadbolt, for enhanced emergency egress safety.
When the above improvements are made, I would wholeheartedly recommend this property to future travelers.
Very nice, updated 20s home. The North Park neighborhood is great for walking/running/hanging out, with some small shops and the smell of Grand Ol 'cue wafting in the air. Close for trips to Balboa Park, downtown, harbor, and not far from the airport, LaJolla Cove, and Torrey Pines park. Though I'd recommend a couple of minor things, the property was clean, well maintained. The owner was very responsive when we wanted to shift our days slightly. Highly recommended
The back yard was gorgeous...we had a 3rd birthday party for our granddaughter there with a couple of cousins, and it worked out great.
The place was very clean when we checked in. It was well equipped (except for no good corkscrew!). Very convenient to our daughter's house three blocks away, and even closer to Santos for morning coffee and bagels.
House was clean. Very private. No one bothered us that had to do with booking. One neighbor didn't like us talking and drinking our coffee at 10:30 in the morning, but other than that the backyard was perfect to sit back and relax. Would stay again if I'm in the area.
The house was awesome! It is a lovely Spanish style casa in the poppin North Park neighborhood. It is in super close proximity to the zoo, with great places to eat and shop. We loved our time there. The owners were super helpful and made sure that we had everything we needed. Most highly reccomended!
North Park is home to Balboa Park where we find the World Famous San Diego Zoo as well as the Museums and Old Globe Theater, an award winning regional theater.
