Gorgeous waterfront property directly overlooking tranquil Onancock Creek, and only one block from the adorable town of Onancock. No wonder Budget Magazine recently voted Onancock 'The Coolest Small Town in America!'
Recently decorated top to bottom by award-winning design team JRML of Norfolk, VA, The Shore House is a gorgeous, peaceful escape. The huge covered deck stretches along the back of the house overlooking the water where you can watch the herons, egrets and osprey to your heart's content. There is also a library tucked amidst the four upstairs bedrooms that overlooks the water and is fully stocked with a wide variety of books. If you want more action you are a short walk from the town of Onancock which has antique stores, wonderful restaurants, a movie theater, a drama theater, a gourmet food/wine shop as well as a town wharf. The back yard is large enough to accommodate large picnics, weddings, family reunions, sports and games.
Within driving distance are two golf courses in Cape Charles (30 minutes), the famous Chincoteague/Assauteague preserve where horses roam on the beaches (60 minutes), several places to charter boats in Wachapreague ('The Flounder Capital of the World', 15 mins) and in Cape Charles. Wallops Visitor Center, the up and coming star of the NASA rocket launching pads, is a 40 min drive north. There are also two grocery stores, fast food restaurants and other restaurants within a five minute drive.
In addition, our summer, full-paying guests will have access to the amenities at the Eastern Shore Yacht and Country Club (15 min drive). We had a great time at this house in Onancock!. The house itself is extremely well appointed, in great shape, comfortable beds, spectacular screened porch, many places to hang out and a well appointed kitchen. The only ding is slow Internet speeds (almost unusable, so if you need to work, you need to be aware... we used our cell phones to tether and ate through our data plan, but it was worth it for the house!!). Loved having the grill, access to the boat, the kayak, and all the games! It was a wonderful family vacation for our family of 7.
Onancock is wonderful. You MUST have the cream filled donuts at the Corner Bakery... it just might change your life :-). Also took a boat to Tangier Island - picks you up at the town dock less than a 1/4 mile away from the house.
You can't go wrong booking this property, and hope to visit again!
Our stay was fantastic! Everything in your house was top notch and location was outstanding. The quaint little town was such a hit.
We will definitely stay here again!
House is nicely decorated with plenty of space. We went to our trip of family and friends with 7 adults and 2 kids and a baby and space was plenty, there was even an unused room. New TV's, a small library, board games and a fully stocked kitchen were awesome. One of the best parts of the house is the big screened porch in the back of the house overlooking the creek, perfect for having breakfast or playing board games. We used the boat and it was a lot of fun. Overall a great experience. Also, property manager was great at answering all my questions in a timely matter and even refunding my boat deposit really quick, great service.
The house is absolutely perfect. We were visiting Onancick for Thanksgiving along with 30 other family members. My family rented this house and it was hard to pull ourselves off the deck to go to our Aunts home for all the festivities. It's the kind of place that you reminisce about long after the vacation is over. Can't wait to go back!
My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The home was clean, nicely decorated and was in a perfect location. We could relax or get loud without worry. We dined in for most of our meals and found the essential cookware with no problems. We also got use from the boat and canoe. As promised, we found a small 'private beach' that was perfect for the grandchildren. Just a note for my fellow northerners, try the fried pickles at the Fairgrounds. Thank you Laura for spectacular week.
