About Theresa Frierson

I have been vacationing in Rockport since I was an infant. Things have changed a lot over the years but it is still the best place on the Texas coast for fishing, bird watching, windsurfing and sailing. The steady breezes and spectacular Copano Bay sunsets are hard to beat. Our property is in great shape with the house having been recently remodeled including replacement and upgrade of all interiors, appliances and amenities. Bedding amenities are of the highest quality and very comfortable.

Theresa Frierson purchased this house in 1959

Why Theresa Frierson chose Texas Gulf Coast

Rockport has that south Texas feel but on the coast with generally dry weather and cool Gulf breezes.

Great time. Accommodations were comfortable and homey. Plenty of extras with kayaks and pier.

  • 5 of 5

The house was clean, kitchen well equipped. Air conditioning worked great. Plenty of hot water. Lots of TVs.

The grounds are beautiful and very well kept. Plenty of beds, and all very comfortable. We were 9 ( 6 adults, 3 kids). Plenty of room. The pier is a great fishing resource. Lots of fun.

We will definitely return.

Comfortable, quiet retreat

  • 4 of 5

On arrival, the house was easy to find. Everything was ready for us and we didn't have to search for much. The queen beds were really nice, comfortable, and (most importantly) clean. The kitchen was in a central location though seemed a bit small at times. The living room and large screen TV came in handy when the weather turned rough and all the kids had to stay indoors. Having to walk thru the bunk room to get to the back bedroom was a bit 'wonky', but we made the most of it. The bathrooms were clean and had plenty of towels. We grilled every night which made our social time nice. The pier was great. The surface planks were new and safe (for the kids). The main light at the end of the pier attracted a lot of fish (though I wish there were a 2nd light on the other side). We made use of the kayaks - which were easy to launch and recover. ... I can't give the property a 5th star because there were some things that didn't work well. It was a bit difficult to figure out how to use the outlets on the pier. The yard has ants and we bought some ant dust which cleared the problem. Half of the grill area wouldn't stay up so I couldn't cook on it. The only tub was not in the main house which made bathing the young children difficult. ... But all in all, it was a great weekend where friends could gather and talk and socialize while the kids could run around. We would definitely consider returning to this property in the future. Hope this review helps.

Tree Frogs, Geckos, Trout, and a Buck!!!

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful property is full of life! Our boys really enjoyed catching (and releasing) tree frogs and geckos, especially after a good rain. We caught black drum and trout, sometimes two-at-a-time (use double-hook glow worms), and almost got in a nice size flounder. When we woke up early the day of our departure, there was a buck staring at us through the window!!! He wandered off as we began to make noise, but it was really cool for our whole family to see. If you want a place to get away for a weekend or week, this is the place to go!

Owner's Response: Leah, yes we have a lot of wildlife on the property since we have 7 acres of mostly undeveloped land. The buck in the day light is a surprise although I have come across him in the golf cart at night. Thanks for choosing to stay with us and we hope that you return soon.

Well maintained property. Small but cozy.

  • 4 of 5

The house needed some repairs but was cozy nonetheless. The fishing wasn't great but still very relaxing. The property was very quiet and private. The only problem we had was that the guest house had bed bugs. We notified the owner and I believe the problem was handled quickly and effectively. Other than that the property was very nice and all that we expected and more. I would definitely stay there again.

Please note for future visits that we have a full time care taker for the property and he can immediately fix anything that needs attention during your stay. We hope that you will return.

My family and I had a wonderful time at your lovely home. The house, grounds and fishing were excellent. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to gather and be together as a family.

I noticed another house that appears to be on the property and wondered if that too belongs to you, and if so, can it also be rented. The reason for my request is that we would like to rent the property again in the future, and would plan on bringing more family if the second home could be rented along with the home I rented this time.

Again, thank you for the opportunity to stay on your property.

Regards,

Rebecca M. Castilla

Owner's Response: Rebecca, thanks for your nice review. Yes, there is another house on the property that is saved for the owners of the property to stay in and it is not rented out to the public. There is a third house on the 7 acres that we are in the process of restoring but not sure when it will be completed. It would be a good house for overflow of guests for the main house. Hopefully we can add it to the website in the future. Thanks
