5 stars isn't enough! This home will blow any other rental away! From the moment you enter, all you see is ocean. Amazing!! Rick thought of everything! Ocean views from almost every room! Convenient, short walk to downtown and Short Sands.
This home was super clean, two fridges (one fully stocked with water, coke, etc.-which we didn't expect), two dryers, SONOS, toiletries, towels...the list is endless!
Rick was helpful and quick to respond during the booking process-made everything easy!
Bruce---I can't say enough about him! He was amazing! Always quick to respond when we contacted him and a pleasure to work with!
Again, all I can say is "WOW"! This home was, by far, the best home we've ever rented! Looking forward to next year! We didn't take advantage of a private chef because we brought our own (my brother!) but next time we just may give him a break.
Thanks again Rick...and Bruce!! This was a vacation we will never forget!
My husband and I rented Rick Benson's stunning home for our intimate wedding weekend (8 adults and 8 children staying in the home). We were beyond pleased with the size and cleanliness of the accommodations, and loved the elegant yet child-friendly decor. The Sonos sound system was wonderful, the grounds were gorgeous with fresh seasonal plantings, and the bedrooms were bright, beautiful, and comfortable. We had everything we needed and more!
Rick was helpful and extremely flexible during the booking process, and we can't say enough about how easy he made everything.
The home's caretaker, Bruce, was amazing! He was always available to answer any questions, and overall was a pleasure to work with. We felt lucky to have Bruce as a resource.
The local chef, Nicole, was quite a hit with our guests. She was extremely helpful, friendly, and everything she made was absolutely delicious! She helped us plan a menu that everyone loved...including the children.
This is the first time we've booked with HomeAway, and loved the whole experience! I would recommend this property without hesitation, and can't wait to go back!
We spent Christmas week in Rick Benson's stunning home, with our children, their spouses and our three grandchildren ages 17 months to 33 months. It was a spectacular vacation in every way. Here are some of the things you should know:
Cleanliness: the place is spotlessly clean.
Comfort: the beds are supremely comfortable. Soft linens and warm, lightweight comforters with extra blankets. Furniture is comfortable as well.
Amenities: Well-stocked kitchen; two refrigerators, two dishwashers, two dryers in the laundry room. SONOS sound system was so appreciated as we listened to music throughout the house. And too much more to mention here. Basically, everything you need and more.
Views: Beautiful views of open ocean from almost every room. Fall asleep and wake up to the sound of the ocean outside your windows.
Entertainment: Two rooms set up with 80 inch TVs and comfy seating. Cable TV plus apple tv, surround sound, etc. Lots of fun for movie and TV lovers.
Misc: Although the house is large with high ceilings, it was warm and homey. The owner and caretaker prepared for our arrival by providing a Christmas tree and tasteful decorations throughout the house. Wireless worked great for our internet needs. Convenient walk to the beach if you wanted a change of scenery.
The caretaker, Bruce, is a perfect host. Helpful but not intrusive in any way. A lovely person.
The owner Rick is responsive, honest, flexible and helpful.
Rick recommended a local private chef, Nicole Galbadis. She prepared a great meal for us. Was flexible with timing. Cooked, served and cleaned up. It was heavenly. Exceeded expectations and worth every penny. And she's a sweetheart. Highly recommend.
I am trying to think of something that could be improved but hard to find a complaint. It was helpful that with very young crawling children, we had the foresight to bring a large, folding play yard-style gate to block off the stairways. Also, we like to set up a puzzle on vacation and brought our own card table for that purpose. The dining room table is huge and worked great accommodating the whole family for meals. It was a little too big for our nightly games of blackjack. :) You might want to bring a folding game table.
Over the years, we have rented many homes through VRBO, from CA to ME and in between. This home was by far, the absolute top in every way.
Our family spent a fabulous 7 days at Rick's beautiful and meticulous estate in York. There is everything you could ever need here. Rick and Bruce have every single detail covered. We hired Nicole Galbadis to cook for us one night as well which was such a special treat and one not to be missed! Nicole is a talented chef who is also extremely fun and personable! She welcomed our kids into the kitchen while she was preparing everything and continued to make this house feel like our home while she cooked. I would highly recommend including her cooking into your vacation plans at least for one night. This was most certainly a vacation to remember. We can't wait to return!
My family came together at Rick’s spacious, light-filled, beautiful house for an early Thanksgiving. There were ten of us, and the house accommodated us easily. The kitchen is amazing, equipped with everything you could ever want or need for cooking for a crowd. Preparing and serving Thanksgiving dinner was a pleasure. There is even a big rolling pin. Rick is a generous and hospitable host. There was never a feeling of being stinted, whether in supplies, equipment, or furnishings. On the contrary, there was a feeling of generosity and of all needs being anticipated and plentifully supplied. The weather was unseasonably warm, so we were able to enjoy the great outdoor spaces, especially the porch with its view of the ocean. The house is less than ¼ mile from the village of York Beach, an easy walk. The two beaches in York and Ogunquit Beach are close by. If you have to leave the house, there is plenty to do in the area. We called it the Happy House for its good energy, and look forward to returning. Thank you, Rick!
We were six adults and four kids under seven. This house was perfect for us. We could be together (mostly in the fabulous kitchen) or not. The kids had the lawn to run around on and the adults had the porch. Being walking distance to town and the beach is great. The little ones loved that they got to walk to the beach and the Fun Park, with parents in tow of course! Just sitting and watching the tides and sky was a most popular pastime. The Sonos system and the washing machine added to our enjoyment. As did Bruce, the most attentive caretaker. The house is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We all agreed we would stay there again!
