Wonderful hosts but a challenging stay for older guests
Three couples, ages ranging from 65 to 83, rented the villa for two weeks in late September and early October2017. The villa is located at the edge of Positano making it too far for us to walk to anything. We needed to call cabs or drive to get to town, grocers, restaurants, the beach, etc. Cabs are quite expensive and driving is a hassle because parking is at a premium in Positano. There is parking at the villa, but your space would most likely be gone when you returned. There is a grocer who delivers and a few restaurants have shuttles which we used and were pleased with both the service and the meals.
The villa is located on the side of a cliff. We underestimated the difficulty of having to walk up and down the many steeply inclined steps. We do not recommend this villa for guests our age, especially if they have any difficulty with stairs.
Our accommodations were comfortable (except some of the beds) and of course the views are spectacular, which is the case throughout the Amalfi Coast. We rented the three bedroom, two bath apartment with a nice living room and kitchen. We also had the "game room" located at the lower part of the villa property which unfortunately was sterile with limited views. We spent much time outside on the main house veranda enjoying the view and weather. Unfortunately, the flies were incessant and many times drove us inside. This mainly occurred when we tried to eat outside or lounge at the pool. We did not experience flies anywhere else in Positano, including outside restaurants. We suspect the two sheep and chickens kept at the villa may have contributed to the quantity of flies. Vito said September is a bad month for flies.
The Fusco family, who own and live at the villa, are wonderful hosts. Vito and Franco, sons of Maria, are very helpful with suggestions as where to dine, get groceries, local sights, etc. they also carried our luggage down to the villa and back up to the car which we would have found almost impossible to do ourselves.
One evening the family hosted a home made pizza dinner. Maria made eggplant parmesan and they served home made wine. It all was delicious and a highlight of our stay.
In summary, the villa is better suited to younger people who don't mind the stairs and long walks into Positano. The Fuscos are warm, friendly hosts who want to make your visit a wonderful experience. The accommodations are comfortable and modestly furnished and the scenery is spectacular.

Owner's Response:Dear Larry,
I'm very sad about this review for a series of reason that I'm sure you already know. I remember the day after you arrival. You and your wife (who I believe is the person who wrote the review) you were annoyed to stay in what you called "game room", telling me that the photos did not reflect the reality. Obviously I remembered (since the reservation was made a year ago) that I had suggested various solutions including the one to take the apartment with the jacuzzi on the terrace but that you chose the one with the "game room" which we call Studio apartment. The name, description and photos of the apartment are all truthful, and you have also mentioned it, as well as your friends who have told me many times to do not mind and that everything was perfect. Your request at this point was to move you to the most "luxurious" apartment but I had the occupied apartment I told you that if I had a cancellation I would have put you in that apartment without paying you any surcharge, because for us guests are "sacred" and our wish is to be happy! This was not possible, and always to make you happy we gave you an evening that you have called magnificent. It would be nice to have written this thing at the top of the review, not at all, as if that was not important.
Too bad for the bed. It's very sad that you were there and you slept bad but it's even worse that you did not say anything, even though every day we asked you if it was ok but then write a review in which you say the bed was uncomfortable. It's a pity you did not say you broke the shower and the water lids and the rope itself we did change it without paying you anything. If you told us that the bed was uncomfortable we would have arranged since I had, among other things, taken an extra room with two extra beds.
As for the flies when weather changes and becomes colder, flies increase and it is not the fault of sheep or hens (of which you ate fresh eggs every day) but simply of nature .
As for the stairs, you know very well that our country is full of stairs is called the Vertical City and anywhere in the country, even in the center the stairs can not be avoided if you want to visit the rest of the coast. What you did. I saw you going up and down to go out for dinner to go out and especially you've always parked comfortably and free in front of the villa gate your immense van. Perhaps for a matter of honesty it was better to ask other guests what they thought about your review With respect, Vito
