About the property

Vintage character—modern comforts. 3 BR, 2 BA, sleeps 9, great family home.

Spend your island getaway in “Blue House” – You'll be swept away by its charm!

Our vacation rental property includes 2 houses that are connected by a deck (There's an ancient tree that grows in the middle of it!). One is named “Blue House” (Described below, ID: 969674, sleeps 9), and the other smaller one is named “Blue Cottage” (ID: 969676, sleeps 6).

In June and July, we rent them together only, as a single unit, and call it “Blue Two” (ID: 969670, sleeps total of 15 – large groups love it!). During those months we rent Blue Two for full, 7-night weeks only, Sunday to Sunday.

In autumn, winter and spring, we also offer the 2 houses, each as a single unit, to be rented separately, if that is what a guest wants. After summer, for the rest of the year, you have 3 options:

1. Blue Cottage alone (969676 –sleeps 6)

2. Blue House alone (969674 – sleeps 9).

3. Blue House and Blue Cottage together as Blue Two (969670 – sleeps 15).

Blue House:

The kids will love Blue house (the little ones and the grown up ones with kids) when they open the front door off the shady, peaceful screen porch and walk into Blue House's airy, combination living room, dining room and kitchen.

9 sleeping spaces/2 bathrooms:

• 2 bedrooms with queen beds,

• 1 bedroom with bunk beds (1 full-size mattress for 3 sleeping spaces),

• Sofa-sleeper in the living room

• 2 full baths.

Plus, our guests love washing off the sand in our enclosed, hot-water shower on the deck under huge, ancient trees. The screened-in porch is great for morning coffee, lunch and rainy days games, surrounded by Mother Nature.

Early riser? Grab some coffee and walk a few blocks to watch the sunrise out of the Atlantic. Hungry? Walk 1½ blocks to one of the best restaurants on the Island. Rent a bike (Fat Tire gives discount for our guests) and ride all over Tybee Island.

Easy flowing design that makes excellent hangout areas for kids and grown-ups. Sun-filled kitchen and common areas, shady and peaceful deck. Don’t miss this opportunity to see extraordinary architectural character almost everywhere you look. You’ll say, “What’s not to love?”

Wonderful location, perfect little beach house with plenty of character. Very close to the beach, a short 2-3 minute bike ride. Owners/management were very easy and pleasant to work with. We will definitely be back!

Thanks!

Perfect Hang Out House

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I stayed in The Blue House, and it was great! We enjoyed the screened in porch and outdoor shower the most! The house is located in a great spot, with a straight shot to Savannah, and close to little eating places and shops, along with walking distance to beach. The kitchen had plenty of dishes and silverware and anything needed to cook. The windows on the front of the house seem a lot bigger once you're inside and they were great for when we woke up early and wanted some sunlight. Gail and BJ were a pleasure to work with and were very kind when I asked to check in on a date that wasn't available to do so on the website calendar. The house has plenty of seating and the home was well maintained, clean, and stocked with everything needed. I highly recommend The Blue House for you and your friends or family!

Perfect beach cottage!

  • 5 of 5

One step in the door and I knew I had chosen well!

This historic building had the core ingredients for beach life: charming beachy decor to remind us where we had escaped to; functional hooks everywhere for towels, beach hats, beach bags, robes, etc.; big beautiful windows in the main living area to let the light in but not the heat; big curtains to shut out passing eyes at the sun goes down and the lights come on; beautiful old hardwood floors that are easy for sweeping up the wayward sand; kitchen with all the basics to cook whatever you crave; comfy chairs & sofa for nights of TV viewing; enough hot water for everyone to get showers after a beach day; the extra outdoor hot shower was a special gift;

AND the "piece de resisitance" was that large, glorious screened in porch with tons of seating! EVERY morning I went out there with my coffee and it wasn't long until everyone else showed up. We sat for hours in our jammies chatting and catching up, and only left when the heat of the day chased us away to begin our day's adventures. At night, we took our food-filled plates and found a seat out on that porch. After eating, we began our non-stop laughter as we played rousing rounds of Uno & other card games. Day & night that porch called to us and we answered. We saddened as 11pm drew near, and we obeyed the noise curfew and ended our games and went to bed or to watch a late-night movie inside.

There was magic on that porch! Try to sit there and NOT have a good time.

It was the best part of our trip! We had sick family members and weary family members, and that porch was the healing balm we needed.

We didn't get out to explore Tybee as much as I thought we would, but it was okay as the cottage was so comfy, like home.

We did visit the lighthouse & Ft. Screven, sat on the beach & swam in the ocean two days (the walk was a short couple of blocks), put in our kayaks at the Lazaretto boat ramp area and explored for a few hours, bought unique mementos & delicious ice cream from the fun little shops along the main road, took a day to explore historic Savannah by trolley & walking, and, of course, enjoyed a huge plate of seafood on the huge outdoor deck at The Crab Shack. We met tons of local working at the places we visited and chatted with them about island life. Oh, how I envy them all. We even met the sweet owner, Dr. Gail, and I was able to find out the history of this house (hopefully they will add the info to the folder in cabinet under Guestbook).

Great screen porch

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed the location - tucked behind the main road. The newly done screened in porch was perfect place for conversation and nightly card games without worry of mosquitos. The rooms were clean and comfortable. My only knock is on a couple of kitchen pans. I understand cast iron should be seasoned, but I wouldn't cool with 2 of the pans as they looked like they'd seen better days. Might want to replace those.

Within 4 blocks of this home, you will find 6 restaurants, a post office, convenience store, liquor store, a fresh seafood store, an ATM, a pharmacy, 5 bars, a bike rental shop, a surf shop, 2 clothing/gift shops, and a wide, white-sand beach. Pedicab is just a block away. This is like a small horse-drawn carriage except that it is powered by an enterprising biker instead of a horse. A short walk to the north is a large park with ancient live oak trees and a gazebo beside a stream. A short walk to the south is the library and another park with picnic tables. A YMCA is adjacent to this park.
