Pigeon Forge Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 2.5+ Baths, remodeled kitchen (Sleeps up to six)

Big Bear Lodge and Resort is minutes from the Parkway but built on a quiet peaceful bluff overlooking Pigeon Forge. Our 1,500 square foot duplex cabin is a great Smoky Mountain getaway not far from a variety of attractions including: the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Dollywood Theme Park, the Titanic exhibit and the new Carl Ripkin Experince . Also choose activities from white water rafting to a Zipline adventure. Step out nearby to a large selection of restaurants, outlet shopping malls including “5 Oaks”; a huge mall with 100’s of stores only minutes from the cabin. We are also just a half mile from the Wear Farm City Park. At the park with be baseball/softball fields, playground and walkway. Many softball tournaments are schedule for the park. You can walk from the cabin to the park if you desire.

In January 2016, we completed major improvements to Bears’ Retreat. This included: new leather sleeper sofa and side chair in the living room and as well as a leather love seat in the loft. In addition the kitchen was updated with granite counter tops and a new sink, faucet and disposal. New bedding was added to both beds and sleeper sofas and an elegant duvet was added in the master bedroom. We also switched cleaning companies and now work with one person who only cleans a few highly rated cabins in Pigeon Forge.

Inside the cabin, you’ll find three levels that are more like home than anyplace you’ve ever stayed: the main level, the second floor and the lower level walkout apartment or Studio Suite. On each level, we’ve added decorating touches throughout that you rarely find in any other vacation property. As an example, we’ve included classic fine art prints and local artist renditions of this beautiful location. We’ve also added lots of pillows, stuffed bears, and cozy throws. This cabin also features hardwood floors and leather furniture. Parking is available on both the main and lower levels of the cabin.

On the main level, relax near the huge stone fireplace with its nearby large flat screen TV housed in an armoire. For larger groups, the leather couch makes into a queen size bed. In the full kitchen, you’ll find everything you need to prepare a delicious home cooked meal, or you may opt to grill something on the large lower-level Studio Suite deck. Either way, you’ll be able to recharge your energies and enjoy being in the uniquely beautiful area of East Tennessee.

Just off the kitchen, you can enjoy a four person hot tub set in a large screened in porch. Enjoy the night air wafting through the screens while relaxing in the hot soothing water. A large half bathroom, along with a full size washer and dryer, is also located on this level.

On the second level, at the top of the stairs you will find a loft sitting area just outside the private master bedroom suite. This vaulted space overlooks the main floor and includes a love seat. You’ll also find a large computer desk, books, reference materials, excellent lighting and a CD player.

Pass through the loft and you’ll be amazed at the size of the master bedroom suite with full bathroom and balcony. Each day you can view the beautiful Smoky Mountains from this suite. This balcony is perfect location for your morning coffee. The king size bed has multiple pillows, a coverlet and many throws should you need them. Relax with your own media choices by taking advantage of your own TV/DVD in this suite. Large chests of drawers are available for all your belongings.

The lower level Studio Suite is a separate apartment that is ideal when a larger group of travelers chooses Bears Retreat. This living space is perfect for another couple or children and comes equipped with a kitchenette that includes a microwave, coffee maker, sink and mini refrigerator. A recently added Foosball table means fun for all! This level is accessed by a convenient stairway to the main living area and, if desired, a private outdoor entrance. This Studio Suite also opens to a large deck with gas grill and hi-top seating for four. You and your family or friends will love the extra space and tasteful décor of this Studio Suite that includes pictures and paintings of Smoky Mountain areas such as Cades Cove.

In this second living area, you’ll find another large stone gas fireplace. You can relax with a flat screen TV above the mantel. The burgundy leather couch opens into a queen size bed. Amenities include a full-size bathroom with shower and a soaking tub! The private bedroom in this suite includes a TV and CD player.

Our cabin, Bear’s Retreat, is part of Big Bear Lodge and Resort. The Following amenities are available at Big Bear Lodge and Resort:

About Robert Thelen

We (Jan and Bob Thelen) are from Lansing Michigan have been visiting the Smoky Mountains the past 30+ years.

Robert Thelen purchased this cabin in 2002

Why Robert Thelen chose Tennessee

After visiting the area on many occasions we had an opportunity to purchase our duplex cabin. After looking at many cabins we felt Big Bear Lodge had the amenities we desired—close to all activities but still quite and peaceful. We purchased in 2002 when the resort was being developed. For eight years we worked with various rental management companies and were never satisfied with the services they provided. In February, 2012 we decided to rent through VRBO and HomeAway so we could have more control over the rental process and provide a better experience for our guest.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed our stay at your cabin. The Foosball table was a big hit and we loved coming back from our outings and relaxing in the hot tub. We would love to stay here on future trips to Tennessee as well.

BEARS RETREAT EXCELLENT

  • 5 of 5

This property was as described. We found it to be very clean. The contact person was very nice and helpful. She even checked on us while I was outside grilling on the lower deck. This resort is convenient to the parkway in Pigeon Forge. The upper level was very peaceful away from kids lol. The middle level is very functional for family with a very nice hot tub. The lower level was ideal for my kids. It was like a small apartment. They really enjoyed it. All resort staff was friendly. This is one I'll be back too. Highly recommend this unit.

Home away from home!

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I with 3 college kids were visiting the Pigeon Forge/ Gatlingburg area for the first time. The cabin was very nice and cozy. I love the separate area downstairs for the kids. The location was perfect ( close to everything but not directly in the crowd) Everything was nice and clean in the cabin. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star was that one of the knobs on the stovetop was broken. We really enjoyed our stay and wish we could've stayed longer. Would definitely stay again!

Owner's Response: Sorry about the stove knob. Prior to your check in our cleaning person noticed the broken knob and immediately ordered a new knob. Unfortunately it took 3-4 to receive the new knob and install. As my contact person explained, the knobs were interchangeable and could be used on any burner. Anyway glad you enjoyed your time at the cabin and look forward to your return--with all the knobs on the stove!! Bob Thelen

Coziest 2bed/2bath and nearby to everything!!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great time spending the 4th of July weekend at this location!! It was so clean, spacious, cozy, and close in location to everything! When you first walk in, you're in the living room and kitchen area. There's a bedroom and bathroom downstairs (door to close to separate space) and then there's a staircase leading to the bedroom and bathroom upstairs. Beautiful views of the mountains from the room up there outside by the balcony! In the common area, there's a jacuzzi right outside the kitchen door. There's a pool table downstairs and the door down there leads out to a grill. Such a great place!!! When you leave the property, Publix and Kroger are so close! You're near all the action, too! It was a wonderful experience and I'll recommend this spot to anyone who is interested in going in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area!

A Very Nice Experience

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our time in Pigeon Forge. On previous vacations we stayed in hotels. This cabin was a great improvement. It was very comfortable and close to many things in town. The cabin was clean and, if we needed anything, the local contact person was readily available. We recommend renting this cabin.
