About Jim Mackey
I'm a consultant working at Microsoft, and since 2007 have rented to co-worker contractors on short term projects. Having lived out of hotels and corporate apartments, for 18 months before my family moved out, I know what a pain that is. By buying a house with an extra apartment which I rent out, I was able to swing a gorgeous home on the lake instead of the “regular house” that I could afford. We have been listing on VRBO/HomeAway for about 3 years and can provide past corporate renter references.
Jim Mackey purchased this Apartment in 2007
Why Jim Mackey chose East Lake Hills
Living on the lake has been a dream, as I'm an avid sailor, boater, and learning to fish. Living in my 'vacation home' year-round makes it great to cut out on a sunny day, to go wakeboarding, without having to plan and pack up the family. I can work from my home office overlooking the lake, yet be 10 minutes from an unscheduled client meeting even in rush hour.
What makes this Apartment unique
Living in Seattle, you learn the weather is unpredictable, most days Fall through Spring have some sun and some rain, so you need live on the water to get out quickly when the sun pops out for a few hours. We have the boats on power lifts so it's easy to be out on the water, 10 minutes after you say 'lets go'.

West Lake Sammamish
Very gracious host with a beautiful apartment and beach availability. It was well stocked with everything you could possibly want or need. We loved it and would stay again in a heartbeat.
Beautiful lakeside retreat that is well located and well equipped
Had a wonderful two week stay at Jim's lakeside retreat. This is a comfortable apartment with a well equipped kitchen, bathroom and washer and dryer. It has a lake view and a dock. This is a peaceful lakeside retreat in the side of a hill about 15 mins from Redmond or Bellevue. Jim is a superb host and may even often to take you on a boat ride around Lake Sammamish - it was a real treat. Highly recommend this place for work or time off - it is good for one or two. There is a small conference store about a mile to the South - do your shopping at a supermarket about 10 mins drive away. There is a park nearby for walking. The driveway is best found with a GPS and read the instructions carefully - it isn't hard to find but a little confusing the first time and the driveway is a little steep so pay attention if you arrive in the dark. Overall a great Pacific Northwest experience. Highly recommended. A+++++!!!
Great Getaway From the Arizona Heat!
This vacation property was well located to the city of Bellevue and surrounding parks. The driveway to the property was very tight and curving and not suitable for a large truck and/or SUV.s. The parking was adequate and the apartment was a few steps down from it. The apartment was just big enough for two adults. It was VERY clean and had every thing needed for cooking and cleaning. There was access to a washer and dryer in an attached room accessible to the apartment. The view of the lake was partially blocked by another residence, but what we could see was lovely. The bushes needed to be trimmed in order to enhance the view and within a day, after speaking to the owner. Jim, had them trimmed and cleaned up.Jim offered many times to take us out in his speed boat which we finally did and had a great view of the homes half way around the lake in a half an hour ride. The natural process of aging made climbing the many steps up and down to the water front a little more challenging than we had expected and as a result, we wouldn't recommend it for seniors with handicaps or those with other difficulties with stairs.Once in the water we enjoyed the use of paddle boards and kayaks and in our younger days we would have taken advantage of the sailboat.
Our month on Lake Sammamish
This is a great scenic lakefront property and provides onsite parking. We spent a month and have never felt so relaxed. The rental portion is ample in size and not at all confining even for our month long stay. It has just about everything you need. Jim and Mimi are gracious hosts and do whatever they can to make your stay enjoyable. I even borrowed a handmixer from Mimi. Lake Sammamish is beautiful and full of activity. While we were really able to relax we like to stay active. They have all the lake lifestyle amenities (i.e., paddle boards, kayaks and sail boat) which we took full advantage. Also, Jim took us out for a sunset ride on his boat. They are in close proximity to restaurants, shopping and a variety of outdoor activities. All in all we had a great month on Lake Sammamish and hated to leave. My only recommendation would be to update the bedroom carpet for when we return.
Lovely apartment on the lake
We loved our stay. The apartment was clean with a great view of the lake. We loved having coffee down by the lake every morning and the boat ride on lake Sammamish.
Very nice clean updated accommodations. Well maintained. Accommodating hosts. Will return
On the Waterfront - just steps from your Weowna beach on the middle of Lake Sammamish. Across the street is an 80 acre old growth forest with miles of trails and a waterfall. Looking out on this 8 mile lake, forested hillsides and snow-capped mountains makes you feel far away but we are only 4 miles to Microsoft HQ (with minimal stoplights on the lakeside Parkway), 15 minutes from Seattle on I-90 or 520, under 10 minutes to downtown Redmond and Issaquah, Boeing Field 20 minutes, Costco HQ 5 minutes. Snoqualmie ski resort and casino is just 40 minutes away. 2 miles from shopping and restaurants, 5 mile from Bellevue Square. 20 minutes from Pike Place market and the Space Needle.
Bike around the lake, or visit 640 Acre Marymore park at the top of the lake, or 512 acre Lake Sammamish State Park at the south end. You can bike to the Redhook brewery & restaurant with miles of bike trails, and even the Woodenville winery region - Google 'Woodinville Wineries' to see about a hundred in biking distance (12-15 miles). Borrow our bikes if you like.
But right at your dock is a Cobalt 200 Speedboat to explore the lake (with owner), a Lido 14 & 2 Laser Sailboats, Stand-up paddleboard, Windsurfing equipment, with free Sailing & wakeboarding lessons, Fishing gear and 2nd pole license, Tow-tube & Inflatable rafts, you won’t want to leave this new home.
Click the 'Satellite View' on the map below to see the gorgeous lake and forest park that surround us to right and left. Zoom in on the dock & pan around the lake.
