Guanacaste House Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedrooms, 2 Full Bathrooms, sleeps 6

Villa Romantica is located directly ON THE BEACH!!! Playa Prieta, is the most beautiful, undiscovered, almost private beach to be found in this area. There are no other homes in front of Villa Romantica, no roads, no paths, only a lush green lawn with Mango and Palm trees leading to the sand beach and the glorious warm waters and gentle waves of the Pacific Ocean. Villa Romantica is located within the gated and lushly landscaped Villas Estival, a community of 12 private Villas, and our Villa is THE ONLY one located directly on the beach. Other properties may claim to be beachfront property and they may be up a steep hilly road, across a busy road, near a very public beach, etc. but Villa Romantica is actually the only home located directly on all of Playa Prieta. The beach is tree lined offering support for swaying hammocks and shade for reading, relaxing or snoozing. We provide comfortable beach chaises and fluffy oversized beach towels for your comfort.

Sit or eat on the covered lanai and view the ocean, waves, islands and sunsets. Or take in the views from the living room or master bedroom.

The entire house and lanai are tiled in cool travertine and the walls, furniture, upholstery and cushions are all the color of a delicious, rich scoop of French Vanilla Gelato. (Speaking of Gelato, some of the best gelato this side of Verona is sold within walking distance in a shop owned and run by a gelato shop owner from Verona who decided that life 'is a beach' and now calls Potrero home.)

The two large bathrooms are both a special treat. The entire high roof of the bathrooms has been replaced with Lucite and Cana Brava offering clear views of the beautiful blue sky during the day and the stars at night. While showering indoors, you will feel as though you are in the outdoors, yet with complete privacy (and no bugs).

The air-conditioned bedrooms are quiet and peaceful. The Master bedroom features a high Queen sized bed from which you can enjoy views of the beach and sea. The master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with vessel sink, large custom glass shower and wonderful natural light from the ceiling.

The second bedroom features a queen sized bed as well as a twin bed which is set up as a lounging couch. There are sliding doors from both of these bedrooms leading to a private patio and the outdoor shower.

The third bedroom has two twin beds as well as air conditioning and a ceiling fan.

The kitchen is completely equipped with all the cooking utensils and serving pieces you would need. There is a dishwasher, microwave, stove with oven, large refrigerator, of course, a double sink and there is a charcoal grill available for your use.

Top this all off with maid service and you too will call Villa Romantica, 'Paradise Found'. Indeed...Life IS a beach.

Paradise on the Beach...with monkeys!

  • 5 of 5

My family of six enjoyed the most marvelous time at Villa Romantica. The home directly faces the beach and has two fabulous day beds on the front terrace from which we were able to watch the monkeys playing in the mango tree by the house and savor the most beautiful sunsets we have ever experienced anywhere on earth. The Villa was exactly as pictured, clean and had all the modern appliances of dishwasher, air conditioning, etc. One of the special features we enjoyed is that the living room doors can be completely opened to the outside creating and inside-outside room or enclosed with the sliding screens to create a screened in room through which the ocean breezes can be enjoyed. From the bed in the master bedroom you can watch the waves roll onto the beach. Our children hardly left the beach but when they did it was to head for the pool which is conveniently located about 50 yards away from the house. My wife and I loved the fact that the house is close enough to the pool but not looking upon it. From the front terrace of the Villa you would have no idea there is anyone else around but there is a complete service staff and is completely safe with gates and guards. I highly recommmend this property and have stayed at several others in Costa Rica. This is THE one to which we will return again and again.

Owner's Response: I am delighted that you and your family enjoyed your stay in our Costa Rican home and thank you for treating our home as it was your own, with great respect and care. I look forward to welcoming you back the next time your travels bring you to Costa Rica. I heard from the children that they are already putting together a plan of their own to come back during their summer school vacation. They told me they are going to miss the monkeys and iguanas, they have names for them all.

A Nice Place to stay in Costa Rica

  • 3 of 5

My wife, her parents as well as my 1.5yr old had the pleasure of staying at the Villa in January 2016. There were both positives and negatives. The positives include the staff overseeing the villas are great. The security are friendly and the cleaning staff were extremely nice. The beach that the villa is near is very nice with quite clear water considering it is the pacific. Monkeys showed up in our trees about every other day which was fun to watch while lounging on the porch. Also, the house is well equipped with the essential kitchen equipment for making meals.

The negatives to the villa was that the pictures were a little deceiving in that there is a parking lot between the villa and beach that filled up with cars every day we were there. Also, there were spiders that were about 8" in diameter that came out from underneath the furniture at night which made us a little nervous going to sleep. Finally, when paying through VRBO, a $200 security deposit is required, but what isn't obvious is that about $85 of it will go towards some sort of transaction fee that will occur when you pay with your credit card.

Overall, a great stay.

Owner's Response: I am delighted that overall you had a great stay at our beachfront home and welcome your return. We are proud and pleased that the staff is so accommodating and pleasant to deal with. The monkeys love the trees in front of the house and are happy to put on their show everyday. The huge Mango tree in the front yard is the draw for them. All beaches in Costa Rica , as in the US, are open to the public and although there is not a formal "parking lot" between the beach and the house,, anyone can park on the sand beach above high tide. During the height of the Christmas/New Year's travel season, when you visited, there are many more visitors than during any other time of the year. Many days there isn't a car to be seen and the beach is virtually deserted. The Christmas/New Year holidays are very busy throughout the tropical world as many of us from further North wish to enjoy some sun and sea. I did not know about the "spiders" and notified the staff immediately. None of us had ever heard of , or seen, spiders of that size in the 30 years we have been coming to Costa Rica. As it turns out, what you saw were not spiders at all but two harmless land crabs who had crawled into the Villa through the open doors during the day and were doing their best at night to get back out again. The staff located them and put them back into the yard where they came from. If ever you have such a problem again, just let the staff know and they will take care of it for you. HomeAway and VRBO offer an easy payment option of paying via e-check which involves no fees whatsoever. Credit Card companies do charge a fee which is billed to the credit card user and deducted from the security deposit. Once again, thank you for such a lovely review and for giving me the opportunity to deal with the lost land crabs.

A Hidden Gem In Costa Rica

  • 5 of 5

This villa is certainly under-advertised. Paradise on the beach comes no where near describing how wonderful our experience was!

50 feet away from a secluded beach, nestled into a series of coves... it was the most relaxing, rejuvenating and revitalizing week I have ever had on vacation.

The villa is in a gated community with a full staff thats takes care of everything - the linens and towels, house cleaning, even knocking coconuts off the palm trees to drink!

The property has a perfectly manicured lawn, swimming pool, and beach chairs.

The villa itself is gorgeous inside.

It looks like it has been renovated recently so everything is new and modern, but very beachy. Most of the walls are made of glass, so you can essentially slide open the whole house and let the ocean air come through!

There is a steady stream of fresh tuna, shrimp, mahi mahi and civche locals will deliver to your door hours after be caught if wanted.

Though the villa is very secluded, its only a ten minute drive to Flamingo, which is a touristy little town full of white sand beaches, crystal clear water, great restaurants on the sand, and shops.

You can also rent speed boats and jet skis, go on ATV and catamaran tours, zip line adventures, and pretty much any other thing you would want to do in Costa Rica from Flamingo.

We went to Monte Verde Cloud Forest for the day and went zip lining on the longest zip line in the world which was incredible.

On my last morning there, I was walking on the beach and saw a Humpback whale playing with its baby about 300 feet off the shore.

I still think about the trip almost everyday even though I have been back for over a month. I could not recommend a better place to spend a vacation!

A Winner! Our Best Stay Ever in Costa Rica

  • 5 of 5

My three boys (ages 16, 20 and 21) and I have visited Costa Rica on two previous vacations and this was, by far, the best experience ever.

The house is perfect for a family such as ours and had plenty of room for everyone. The home is just steps onto the beach and the beautiful, warm waters of the Pacific. There is comfortable hammock and daybed on the front covered terrace or beach chairs that can be taken down to the sand. Peaceful walks on the beach were just what I needed for a break from work, writing a Ph.D.disertation, parenting and living in New York State during the worst winter I can remember.

The house was immaculate and beautifully furnished and completely equipped. It had everything we could have needed and many things we had not even thought of. Beach and pool towels were provided and maids came in three times a week to clean, change the sheets and towels....

Flat screen TV's and WiFi kept my boys happy when they were not at the beach or working out on the gym set or in the pool. There are a couple of places to eat and a simple grocery store within walking distance and many other options within a ten minute drive. We enjoyed several delicious seafood dinners, one right on the beach. We also had a delightful half-day catamaran trip ending with a spectacular sunset. The staff was extremely helpful in setting up excursions. We have also stayed in two other homes owned by the same owner, Barbara, one in East Hampton, NY and one in Charleston, SC and found them both to be perfect in every way. I cannot recommend them enough.

We never want to leave....can't wait to come back

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I have been escaping the harsh winters of New York to come to this paradise as often as we can. I can't remember but I think this is our fifth visit to Villa Romantica and each year when it is time to leave, I desperately wish we could stay longer. The Villa is located with a direct view of the Pacific....from the master bedroom perched in the bed even.

Within the last two years Barbara has added two daybeds on the covered terrace right in front of the beach. There is also a palm frond ceiling fan directly over the outdoor day beds to keep the breezes flowing while we laze away.

The home is immaculate and the kitchen equipped with everything you might need including a rice cooker which was a new one for me. All countertops and backslashes in both the kitchen and bathrooms are a stunning granite and the floors travertine. Gorgeous!

There is maid service three times a week and both cable TV and WiFi so that we can watch the horrible winter up north and remind our friends how lucky we are to be in Costa Rica.

We came down one summer for two weeks as well and cannot stress enough how wonderful it was. Everything was green and all the flowers were in bloom and the mango tree in the front yard kept us in delicious Mangos for our entire stay. It did not rain daily as I expected and then it only rained about one hour each day and that was usually in the late afternoon or night and then all was clear, bright and refreshed right afterwards. It was cooler and more comfortable in Costa Rica than in New York, that is for certain.

I highly recommend this Villa and think you will enjoy it as much as we have. And, yes, I have recommended it to friends and family.

We are located on the 'Gold Coast' of Costa Rica, in the province of Guanacaste, on the the Nicoya Peninsula, Pacific Coast.

The house is ON Playa Prieta, in the town of Potrero, in a gated community of 12 houses on 6 garden acres called Villas Estival.

Potrero is an authentic Costa Rican village in the midst of the region’s rustic ranch land; you might see cowboys herding their cattle past the town square’s soccer field. There are small restaurants, bars and groceries in the village.

Locally there are many activities including fishing, sailing, kayaking, snorkeling, scuba diving, hiking, horseback riding, canopy tours, ATV adventures.

Playa Flamingo is a short 10 minute drive away, with restaurants, shops, nightlife, marina, cruising, deep sea fishing and resort activities. The beach town of Brasalito is another 5 minutes away with more nice restaurants and is a real Tico village. The Conchal Resort and golf course is near here.

Within 30 minutes is Tamarindo and Playa Grande, one of the surfing capitals of the world. There you can surf, take lessons, eat, shop, or just lie on the beach.

From the beach, it's a 1hour drive to the cities of Liberia or Santa Cruz, 11/2 hours to Buena Vista Lodge on Rincon de la Viejo volcano with white water rafting, hot mud baths, thermal springs and much more, 2 hours from the Nicaragua border, and 3 hours to Arenal Volcano, or to the Monteverde Rain Forest.
