Located on one of the highest ridges overlooking Lexington, the house sits alone on 10 acres, only one mile from Main Street. It overlooks the Old Farm where the family had lived since 1900. There are neighbors - in the distance.
By day enjoy the fabulous views of the surrounding mountains, with the lights of town twinkling in the distance each evening. Relax on the screen porch, which seems suspended over the tree tops.
Located on Old Farm Road, a favorite walking and jogging route for many locals, including the VMI cross-country team. Feel like you are away from it all, with neighbor's chickens clucking in the distance. Yet, in moments, be downtown shopping, touring, going to VMI, W&L or the Virginia Horse Center.
This home sits atop a hill with a dramatic view of the Valley. We spent time on the large deck just gazing at the view. It's very convenient to town, but within minutes feels like you've escaped to your own mountain retreat. Very clean and nicely decorated. We'll stay again!
This house is the perfect gathering spot for family or several couples. Although just a hop from downtown Lexington, views from the spacious deck and screened in porch are of the surrounding Shenandoah hills, fields and forests. Breathtaking rain or shine! The house is well appointed and attractive and had everything we needed. The owner's relatives came immediately with ice when we called about a fridge issue. They arranged a repair immediately. Can't say enough about this rental!
We stayed for two lovely nights in this beautiful VERY CLEAN house. The owner was nice and cooperative and the house was equipped with everything we could think of. Our three young boys enjoyed the outdoors and my parents enjoyed the views and tranquility. The house is located in a perfect place for sightseeing, hiking and just relaxation. I recommend it heartily and am planning to return soon!
We took a long weekend with our children, grandchildren and 2 dogs. It was a wonderful time. The house and views were wonderful. It was a lovely home with plenty of room for everyone. Very neat and clean and all the amenities of home. The dogs had a wonderful time running around the yard and loved the long walks too. The grandkids love catching lightening bugs and just playing outside. Lexington is less than 5 minutes away and very easy to get too. Also have lots of things to do in the area. We all are looking forward to staying out there again!
In mid July we had a small family gathering in a place never before visited - Lexington, VA. The family had a great time, in no small part attributable to the lovely furnished and well maintained house and the considerations of the owners. We all thought the house was larger and more modern looking than the pictures and would recommend this property to a friend.
If we meet again in Lexington, this is the place to stay.
My boyfriend and I (along with his parents) fell upon this wonderful country home by chance (ok, we were forced by circumstance) and I couldn't be more thankful for it! After a windstorm knocked out power all over the state, including in the cottage we had originally rented, we managed to secure five nights here. I don't think things could have worked out any better than they did.
Old Farm Road truly is the best of both worlds; my boyfriend and I loved the secluded hilltop location and spent most of our mornings and nights on the back deck. A great view coupled with complete quiet was exactly what we look for in a getaway. His parents loved being so close to town (they're not so used to the woods) and we often took day trips to Lexington and neighboring areas.
The house itself is clean and incredibly spacious; my boyfriend and I stayed in the master suite while his parents slept downstairs. That too was the best of both worlds; we spent long days and lazy nights together as a family but were able to sleep, shower and getaway (if needed) in complete privacy.
We cooked almost every meal of our trip, thanks to a kitchen stocked with all the utensils you could imagine (bring your own spices, etc.). The outdoor BBQ was used every day. Even the two-car garage came in handy when we arrived home in a downpour.
Lexington is a small town (smaller than I thought)... spend a day walking around Main Street and support the locals, then venture out a bit. Driving Goshen Pass is a must, especially if it's summer (you can swim in the river) and Charlottesville is just an hour away if you're looking for more activity; its outdoor, downtown mall has plenty of options for shopping, casual eating and finer dining.
I feel fortunate to have found, during such a hectic time, the perfect respite in Old Farm Road. I have to mention how generous and accommodating Vicki was; she took all my panicked phone calls, made sure her house was in proper working order after the storm, and greeted us with a smile when we arrived.
Thank you for a great stay!
